An incredibly informative experience

When we initially stepped into the museum workshop, we thought it appeared very small and wondered if we would be able to fill an hour but quickly found that we were totally engrossed. The audio tour system that explained each photograph and exhibit was very moving and Gary Suson was a delight to talk to. He kindly let us stay for over two hours and was happy to answer any and all of our questions. We felt very moved as we left and would recommend this museum to anyone visiting New York. Gary kindly dedicated a copy of the Requiem book to me. The last time we were in New York was a few months before the 9/11 tragedy and we were standing on top of the World Trade Center so it is still almost unbelievable to us to see a large void where the towers had been. We would be most grateful if you could pass on our thanks to Gary Suson for putting together such a brilliant and respectful exhibition. He is a very talented man. Kind regards. Jean & Andy Tuck, UK

A Must See.....

Our group had a cross section of age, myself at 42, My Mom at 67 and my daughter and her friend at 13. We all thought it was wonderful. The movie was touching, emotional and very tastefully done. The artifacts are great to be able to look at in person and hear the stories behind them all. I would highly recommend. Debbie Torrice

The "museum" was a very moving and tasteful experience...With our 8 and 13 yr old daughters we went to the museum after we went to the Ground Zero site and the nearby church. The photographer and a fireman, present at the attack spoke to us, using handheld recorders we self toured the artifacts and photos at the museum and were able to ask questions of both men. A wonderful opportunity to learn more about this tragic event.

WTC Museum Workshop was Stunning

I wrote this in my blog: A yellow taxi dropped us in the historic Chelsea meatpacking district. We were there to visit the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. The museum was in a small second-floor loft, and very well done. It contained WTC artifacts collected (not personal belongings) and poignant photographs taken by Gary Suson. One piece was the most chilling for me. It was AA11 aluminum fuselage melted into a warped Dali-like mutation. One photograph portrays a firefighter holding a book with his finger marking a passage. My mother told me not to miss it on the audio tour so I figured it was some biblical thing. In fact, the book was one in the Harry Potter series that his son, also a firefighter, had read to his two young children on the evening of September 10th, 2001. The son never got to read any more... We walked quietly for a long time after visiting the museum, none of us speaking much. About an hour later, after walking a sun-drenched few miles along the Hudson River, my son Kyle and I were looking into the pit where the dust of the dead still rustles in the fall breeze. We grabbed a cab and got out of there. It was the last day of Kyle's 14th year and it was one he'll always remember. I'll remember it too, but I'll remember to read him Harry Potter even more.

Amazing Experience

What an amazing experience and i would 100% recommend that anyone considering going to The Ground Zero Workshop should definately go. Gary Marlon Suson was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic. He explained eveything from the heart. It was the most moving and powerful experience i have ever been a part of. I also purchased the book which Gary personally signed and this to shows the scenes in so much detail, I also felt that where the money was going to charity was superb to. Also even the toilet was beautifully set out!! Since being back home i have told all my friends and family about the time i spent in the Workshop and have fully recommended when any of them travel to New York that this attraction is a must. Every penny spent was worth every second spent in the Workshop. The motto "Never Forget" is the most fitting tribute.

A place of healing..

When I returned home from several weeks of volunteering in a respite center at Ground Zero in 2001, I was desperate to make my husband understand what I felt. After five years, he finally "gets it" because of this wonderful place. My husband told me that it was the best place we could have visited for him to get a real sense of what I saw and went through while I was serving the rescue/recovery workers. Thank you, Gary, from the bottom of my heart. You have created a beautiful tribute. I feel more healed after visiting your museum and talking to you than I have in all of the five years that have passed since I've returned home. I can't thank you enough and look forward to returning with friends and family soon.

As a firefighter returning after 9-11, I was deeply moved and appreciative of Gary Suson's work. The sharing of his experience at ground zero is something all of us should see so we may heal but "never foget "

One of a KInd, Must See

This exhibit is the epitomy of humanitarianism. The Photograher/Owner/Curator, Gary Suson, displays in pictures and in actual items from ground zero the carnage left behind. However, this exhibit is not about the bad which occured on 9/11, he has managed to memorialize the event and honor the victims of 9/11. While the potential for tears is always surrounding that event. I found myself not so overwhelmed to tears, but rather observing and trying to answer as many of my unanswered questions as possible. I was fortunate to have Gary Suson give us the actual tour, which was very moving and very apparent just how passionate he is about his work and full intention of the museum, to help heal himself, the other firefighters who worked the recovery sight and American hearts. Highly recommend,

Highlight of our trip to New York

We visited on Friday 27th October 2006. We were lucky to be given our tour by Gary Suson and we were very impressed with the museum. It was very sensitive towards the issue. All the photos were taken with the utmost consideration for all those involved. The artifacts gave an insight into the events of that terrible day. We would recommend this museum to anyone visiting New York as it is a very special place.

I could not connect the artifacts I saw with the facts of that day. The images in documentaries are much stronger in my opinion. Also it is not like a museum, it is a small room and you have to be there at the correct time, you are not allowed to get in a few minutes before. Not recommended

This museum is about Heros! Those true American Heros that gave everything they had to find the injured. You will get a true look inside the tragedy, you will see pieces of history & you will hear the stories of those that were there day after day... It is truly a Once In A Lifetime experience! Seeing the images, hearing the stories & touching the past. This is a special place & it will touch your soul on so many levels. No matter where you are from or how old you are - you should take time out of your day to day schedule & make this a must see! My mom, my daughter & myself - 3 generations- spent the afternoon at the Ground Zero Museum. What we felt will stay with us forever! Thank You!

I wasn't sure what to expect when arriving at the Ground Zero Museum. The outside of the building is deceiving and so is the inside. When you first enter you may think it's small, but it packs a powerful emotional punch. I left emotionally drained and glad that I stumbled upon the website that led me to the museum. We spent over two hours going over the pictures there and I hope that the museum continues to grow and that people will never forget what happened on September 11th.

This was an inspiring and interactive look at ground zero from the eyes of the only photographer allowed to take pictures. It was interactive because we could touch pieces of steel and pieces of rare glass found at the site. It has a personal touch as only a handful of people can go at one time because of the size of the exhibit. Don't be suspicious of the means to get in to the exhibit. You need to go at noon and be buzzed up to the second floor in the meat packing district. It is on the up-and-up, and done that way because of the small size of the exhibit. To sum up, it was sensative and touching. Proceeds from this exhibit go to help charities associated with 9-11..
