If you were in new york on 9-11 its a reminder ...

I was here on business during 9-11. Stuck in the city for 3 days...I will never forget that SMELL as long as i live! Enought time has passed to look back and rememberi the events in an objective way. Did anyone is the USA sleep soundly for weeks afterwards? Was CNN your obsession?? Did you think about what happened constantly?? We all wanted to understand WHY??? I cant immagine the trauma for the families and those that lost love ones...it will be part of whom they are for the rest of their lives. this museum is a fabulous, well presented, gentle but poinant reminder for us " to never forget that day in world history "and how it effected every single person in the USA if not the world. I will never forget that day and this museum honors those who died in an appropriate respectful way. God bless ever one invloved in keeping the spirit and memories of those alive who dies in 9-11 and whom since died as a result of their selfless efforts in the recovery.

Very worthwhile museum

Both my husband and I were VERY IMPRESSED with the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. It was tastefully and respectivefully put together. We highly reccommend everyone to see it to get a better understanding of what happened on that tragic day of Sept. 11, 2001.

Very moving experience

My husband and two sons (age 18 and 21) went to this exhibit during our visit to NYC and we were all very moved by the emotion and personalization of the 911 terror attack. The museum is small but presents a "big" realistic view of the event and the aftermath of the attack. The facts that you learn are mind-boggling...would recommend this for anyone over the age of 16.

This is a very small museum, yet one of the most powerful museums I have ever been to. A chance to touch items from Ground Zero and get a feel for the people involved after the towers came down.

As a survivor I was interested in seeing this museum and many of the original images captured. Although it was emotional, my family and I really enjoyed seeing the very different perspective offered at the museum. The remnants and images were tastefully presented in a very intimate and thoughtful way. Every American should see this to learn more about this tragic event from a different viewpoint.

Very Touching!

Very well organized and in order fashion. The only problem I had ,was to find the building because considering location, need sign on side walk ,I was not looking high enough. It was very well made, and by the end I wanted to see and hear more stories.! After my tour I went around the corner to the bar and left and probably still there a pamphlet about the museum and raved about all afternoon to whoever walked in! The most touching museum I ever being!!!! God Bless! JP

small museum with big heart

Don't visit if you want to be voyeuristic about the actual 9/11 disaster. This is a personal collection of artifacts and photos from the days after the disaster with emphasis on the ones who lost lives and providing physical reminders and comments from the people invloved in the rescue operation. Don't worry that the Museum is not at Ground Zero.

Wonderful tour

I did not know anyone killed on Sept. 11, but the museum helped me feel like they were all family. I would recomend this place to all citizens to visit and learn what happed that day. The photographs were wonderful and the audio tour helped me understand what it must have been like during the recovering period. Thank you.

The museum was moving and very well done. Our whole family learned a lot and while the kids did not express a lot emotionally, I feel it did have an impact on them and provided and excellent lesson. We visited as part of a 11 day family vacation. This year our vacation had a verse from the bible to frame what we saw and served as a discussion started each night in our hotel room . The verse was "Finally , brothers and sisters, whatever is true, is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Philippians 4:8 The evening of the day that we visited the Ground Zero Museum, the kids recounted several things that they saw and experienced at the museum fit into the things that this verse tells us to think about. Nobility - of the men and women who responded to the cry of the innocent. Right - the rescue workers treated the victims with respect as they attempted to find their remains. It would have been easier to bulldoze the whole thing instead. Lovely. The photos of what was meant for evil but brought out the good in NYPD, NYFD and mankind. Pure - The look of pure love on the face of brothers and fathers searching for the remains of their loved ones. Also the rescue workers lined up to show respect for the fallen heroes as their remains were carried from Ground Zero. Admirable The valiant efforts that lasted not a day, not a week or month but over years to respectfully reclaim the WTC site. I am grateful that these are the things that we are able to think about after visitin. Thanks for the opportunity to have a little taste of all that was done on our (America's) behalf and thank you for the experience that help us to take good from what was intended for evil. "Best thing my daughter and I did in NY!"

As part of our 18-year-old daughter's high school graduation gift, we decided to have a mom and daughter getaway to New York (we're from California). When planning our trip, I wanted to make sure we scheduled some more meaningful activities other than shopping. Luckily, during our research of things to do in NY, we came across the Ground Zero Museum Tour. We had never heard of it, but was quite impressed with the write-ups and the interview with the man who created this museum. So, I bought tickets and hoped for the best. To call it a "tour" does not do it justice... it's an intimate "experience", where you actually "feel" the emotions that existed during this significant and devastating event in history. Words sometimes cannot fully express the emotions that visuals can. Gary Suson, the sole photographer and owner did an amazing job capturing and sharing the heart and soul of September 11th. We were very fortunate to meet him during our visit and be able to thank him personally for educating us beyond what we saw and read in news coverages. Both my daughter and I agree that this Museum visit was one of the best things we did in NY! We definitely recommend this to anyone who will be visiting NY.

The museum offers a large collection in a small, yet comfortable, space. The museum focuses on photographs taken by the Official FDNY 911 photographer. It is excellent for the whole family and offers explanations for all of its over 100 articles including photographs and real objects from the site.

Amazing Museum

This might be the smallest museum in terms of square footage you've ever been to, but It's the biggest in terms of information and heart!! Amazing photos, information, and assorted items all connected to The World Trade Center attack. We had the good fortune of meeting the photographer / owner of the museum. You can still see how it still affects him. Be prepared to shed a few tears, but don't worry, they have plenty of tissues and chocolate to help you get through it.

This museum was fabulous. New York offers other amazing tourist hotspot museums like madame tussauds and ripleys, but the ground zero workshop topped it all for me. You get to witness artifacts that you never thought would be shown to the public. The people there are kind and generous, they really treat their guests with respect and gratitude. It is DEFINITELY the biggest small museum in the world. 100% recommend, you would be missing out if you didnt go!
