A Moving 9/11 Tribute.

Tour Length : 1-1:30hrs approx.
Tour Location : You stay in the building (You DO NOT visit Ground Zero on the tour)
Restroom : Yes
Having read recent customer reviews, my sister and I decided to book this tour to see the up-close-and-personal photos/artefacts following the atrocities on 9/11.
What followed was emotional. After being greeted by the guide (usually a person who was there that day) you are invited to watch an interview with Gary Marlon Suson (the OFFICIAL photographer at Ground Zero) and then a montage of photos dubbed over with actual phone/radio chatter from that fateful day.
After this you are given your own personal electronic 'story-teller'. All around the room are photos taken by Gary and arfefacts from Ground Zero, each has a number, you tap the number in your 'story-teller' and a clip of Gary himself telling you the inside story of that piece.
You are actually allowed to hold certain pieces frowm Ground Zero, this allows you to have some sort of connection.
This is a very well put together workshop, and any money made from sales of books/posters/cards will be shared among the victim's families.
There is no rush to get round and listen to every story of every picture/artefact as you can easily get round before the next tour starts.
Our tour guide was Lou (who volunteers at the church across the street from Ground Zero, St Paul's I think - another must see) and Gary Suson was also there to give an introduction.
All-in-all this is a must see workshop if you want to see photos that have never been seen in public. |

Sensitive Portrayal

This small initimate museum portrays sensitively the events of 9/11. The self guided audio head sets allow you to take in what you want from the displayed photographs around the room, order is not important. It is the overall experience that counts. Although sad it is an important collection with a message to the viewer that we should never forget the day that the world lost its innocence.
It was a bonus to meet the photographer on the day we attended. |

I was planning a trip to New York City with my youngest daughter as part of her 16th birthday celebration. I used the internet to research the areas we wanted to see. Having not been to NYC since the WTC bombings, it was one of the destinations on my list . I saw information about the Ground Zero Museum Workshop on a WTC site. After reading about Mr Suson's experience while visiting the Anne Frank home, I knew I wanted to bring my daughter to the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. Since she was 8 years of age at the time of the WTC bombings, I felt at age 16 she would be able to have a better understanding of this historical time. The presentation of this event was on a level which the media completely missed. It showed the true grit of those involved in the recovery and the dignity with which they carried out the unimaginable. We learned more in just two hours about this tragic event (even though I had watched the media coverage), its' effect on those living in New York City and our own connection with this part of history, more than I thought possible!. My daughter questioned me afterward about why her history classes have not be able to convey this information in the same way. I told her sometimes you have to hear from someone who was there, just as Anne Franks' diary brought that part of history to us, Gary Suson gives voice to this historical event through photographs, artifacts and his personal descriptions. This was the most memorable time we spent in NYC and in the months to come it will be described and discussed with many family and friends. |

This was such a tasteful and intriguing exhibit. The tour guide was very friendly and the museum provides such an insight into 9/11. There really aren't words to describe this museum, it is truly one of a kind. I recommend that everyone who goes near New York City stops into this museum! I will never forget my visit to this museum. |

This museum really brought to life what happened on 9/11 and the months afterward. My family is from New Orleans and understands the impact of a catastrophe, even though ours was unpreventable. This museum may be small, but what is has to offer is so much greater. Listening to the stories behind the pictures on our own headsets and at our own pace, gave each individual time to reflect in their own way. It was an honor to meet Gary and thank him for his work. The Ground Zero Workshop Museum is highly recommended! |

I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for an up close and personal view of September 11, 2001. What has been done in this small loft apartment will live with you for a lifetime. I cannot give enough praise to the creator and the staff members at the 9/11 Workshop Museum. Prepare to leave with a very deep, emotional impact that will have been embedded in your mind. A good experience for children as there are no unhealthy images of the impacts or collapses. |

A very sensitive and moving exhibition of photographs and artifacts from one of the most terrifying and devastating days in U.S. history. The FDNY granted full access to the World Trade Center site to just one photographer. This is his work. There is a story behind each picture, which he narrates with compassion and sensitivity. You will be moved. |

What a wonderful way to pay tribute to 911. It was respectful, informative and intriguing. My stepmother was nervous about coming, having grown up in New York. The museum is done in such a tasteful manner that it brought up a good memory, the last dinner she had with her parents was the restaurant at the top of World Trade Center.
Thank you so much |

Not so much of a workshop (which I associate with activity) but more of an opportunity for quiet reflection on a tragic event brought to life through beautiful photographs and commentaries. Numbers are limited. Take it at your own pace, touch exhibits, take photos. The atmosphere is fittingly sombre yet peaceful. They describe it as being part of a "healing process". Do not miss. |

Actually meeting Gary (the photographer) made the experience that much more meaningful. i was impressed with how much was in such a small space. being able to touch artifacts from the recovery really brought it home for me. it must offer a healing experience for those who knew someone that was lost as a result of 9/11. wonderful! |

This museum has been put together with a tremendous amount of thought and respect towards the victims of 9/11and their families. Very, very interesting and being able to hold some of the artifacts was an honor. We had the privilege of meeting Gary in person as he was at the museum on the day of our visit. He is a wonderful, caring person and it was a real treat to be able to talk with him and listen to his stories. I will visit the Ground Zero Museum Workshop again on my next visit. It's a must see!
