The Ground Zero Museum was Awesome

I was fortunate enough to spend 4 days in New York this summer (2006) and had the opportunity to tour the museum, and I was totally amazed at the amount of effort that went into putting together this museum, the tasteful way that he displayed the portraits was awesome. I am an EMT in Washington and spent almost 2 1/2 hours talking with them and listening to the emotional stories that they told in reference to the picture that were displayed in the museum recounting this horrible day and what those families went through. I have since then, told everyone I know and especially anyone that I know will be going to New York, to make sure that they spend some time at the museum, cause they will be absolutely amazed at the outstanding job that was done with this museum.

Both me and my girlfriend agree that this was one of the best experiences we had on our holiday. It may be just a small museum bit of has plenty in it and every little thing or picture has a story. It was very moving and we got quite emotional but everything is done very tastefully. We would recommend this to anyone who is travelling to New York as it is one of the best museum trips you can do!

I would recommend this experience to anyone. It was very emotional but incredibly informative. They all should be very proud of the work they have done to document this historic event.

The museum is nothing extravagant, so don't expect multiple rooms spread across a few floors. It's one small and intimate room, but the quality within that room is pretty astounding. Every piece in the room whether it be photo or actual artifact is accompanied with an audio explanation, and it's a very emmersive experience because of that. If you weren't there during the period 9/11 happened, this museum makes all those stories a true humanistic reality and I felt more in touch with the event than I ever did before, and I'm from California. Great museum and I recommend it to anyone who wants more than just to look at something and call it a day.

Definitely recommend this. It was insanely moving and provided great knowledge and exclusive photographs and artifacts spoken about through first hand stories. Worth every penny

Nicely scaffolded and moving exhibition

The museum succeeds in creating an intimate space where the stories about the recovery of Ground Zero are beautifully conveyed through pictures and accompanying audio-telling. My mum, my sister and I all thoroughly enjoyed the museum although the theme is very strong and it is not an uplifting experience.

Honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. It allowed me to understand 9/11 in a way that I never had before. It also allows you to understand what actually went on at Ground Zero for the months that followed the attacks. The museum is focused on healing, not on despair. I was moved as an American and as a human being to see the love that was outpoured as a result of so much tragedy. Truly beautiful.

Great Little Museum
Mon, Nov 19, 12   2:00 PM TarynNeyman Female 20-29 Local Family Without Children
This Museum is called New York's "Biggest Little Museum" and that is completely true. I was very surprised when I was led into the museum and realized it was only one room. This one room, however, is jam packed with photographs and artifacts from ground zero. When you enter you are given a short overview of the museum and the man who was the official photographer of ground zero. There is then a few video clips and interviews from September 11th and the months afterwards. After the videos you are given a tour mate audio player and headphones to complete the self guided part of the tour. You can easily spend an hour or more listening to the descriptions on every photo or artifact. Even though the room is small the images and artifacts are very powerful. They have actual artifacts from ground zero that cannot be found anywhere else such as iron crosses burned from downed beams and a small piece of one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center. Overall I think they have done a great job and would definitely recommend attending this museum. My only wish is that they had more to show.

An emotional journey to 9/11
Mon, Sep 24, 12   2:00 PM Romisigal Female 20-29 International Tourist(s) Individual
It's a tiny museum with many many artifacts and great photographs that capture a moment. The guides don't talk much, leaving most of the explanations to a dvd played in the beginning of the tour and then an audio guide you use with headphones to explain photographs and items. I would like to hear more from the guide... a bit more. other than that it's a good thing to see, you definitely don't need all the time they give you (3 hours), because you'll be done in an hour and a half max (including intro from guide etc). All in all, would recommend to see. Good memorial for 9/11
