UNBELIEVABLE!!! Highly recommend it to EVERYONE

This event is an AWESOME experience. It made the whole 911 event so much real for me. I was in Atlanta when it happened and had to get home to Louisiana without air travel. All I could think about was getting home to my kids who were with my Mom while I was out town on business. My drama was nothing compared to the folks in NYC. The biggest impact to me from this workshop was the realization that after the news stories slowed down and the rest of the US and world went back to our daily lives, the rescue efforts continued for 9 months! I had no idea how long, how intense and how overwhelming it all was. Being so far away, it is just not easy to imagine the horror of it all. The families and the fathers and sons impacted along with the long lasting affects blow my mind. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to the workshop, but it was worth the effort to get there, the time away from "fun" stuff on vacation and the time spent inside listening and looking. I looked at and listened to every picture I could fit in to the almost 2 hours I was there. And I still didn't get through them all. I applaude Gary for his efforts in putting this together, for being present when we came to the workshop and all he is still doing for families impacted. Him being there was very special in that it made it so much more personal an event. His personal stories and input were invaluable. I will recommend this museum/workshop to everyone I talk to about my vacation. I've already started! The 2 friends I was traveling with had very similar thoughts and feedback. They were both tahnking me for finding out about the workshop and getting the tickets. All I can say is WOW! It was amazing!

We didn't know what we expected to find, but we found a reverend museum of expression for what occurred on 9/11. Talking to the photographer added a layer of more emotion we weren't expecting. To go here first and then to go to Ground Zero made the day emtionally draining, but definitely special. I think it is a very special museum. Thank you so much for offering it.

Non political. About the rescue effort and following year, Not about the event. Artistic. Sensitive. Extremely well done. Meet the ONLY photographer who was allowed into Ground Zero.

Fantastic insight to the pain suffered by so many

It was a real opportunity to see the other side of things not shown on the TV or documentries. It gave a great insight into the work, stresses, tears, and laughter of the people searching for remnants of thier loved ones.It was one of the highlights of our visit to New York.

On the day we visited ( Sunday 2 Dec 2007) we were fortunate to have Gary Suson head up our tour. The room was smaller than I imagined but so much information and emotion came over during our time there. The tour was due to last 1.5 hours but 2 hours later we were still there. The pictures, audio comentary and artefacts that you're allowed to hold or see tell you so much you might never have known. Gary freely talked to us about his role as photographer and it's clear to see the whole experience has taken its toll but the results of his work are amazing. We'd already been to the ground zero site the day before and it wasn't at all what I expected. However this museum and Gary explained so many things and makes us feel that people will never forget the heroes of 9/11 as long as this museum is there. It's not on the normal "tourist" routes but well worth your time off the beaten track.

A very special and unique museum

We were very fortunate to have Gary Suson himself as our tour guide. We are from The UK, and whilst we were not personally affected by the tragic events of September 11th, we have been touched by the emotion and stories ever since. On arrival you receive an audio headset full of stories narrated by Gary Suson. There are at least 100 exibits each telling their own story, which are both fascinating and sometimes very moving. If you have an interest in 9.11, for whatever reason, I would strongly recommend a visit to this very unique and special museum.

We loved the museum. There is and will be no other like it. It is very tasteful and respectful to all that were involved in the disaster. If you have even begun to forget, this is a must for all. I thank Gary for the love it took to create a place to think and remember the days of and following the bombings. He was also very kind to talk to us, since we were so very lucky to meet him.

I have wanted to do something and know more of how to pray for the families and friends of victims. This was a wonderful tribute to our fallen heros and has given me a history lesson and a reminder of how good Americans are - deep down inside. The reverence provided to the victims, the support to the families, the memories shared all were done very tastefully and respectful of those gone and those remaining. I highly recommend this. it's an intimate setting where you can remember and not be jostled and shoved around as you are on the streets and in tourist attractions! REMEMBER and take you kids (recommend 9 or older) and tell them of the day we were attacked.

Ground Zero Museum Workshp Tour - Excellent

We were lucky to have Gary Marlon Suson introduce the tour. He and Lou (the other FDNY fire fighter that hosted the tour that day) were very personable and willing to answer any and all questions. It's an intimate experience, and I'm glad they're keeping it that way. It was powerful to hear the various stories, see the artifacts, and remember the events of 9/11 and the years of recovery that have followed. Would publicze to future participants that this tour does NOT actually involve a visit to Ground Zero. Thanks. We enjoyed and appreciated the experience.

This tour was put together with an amazing amount of respect towards the families and victims. There is nothing else like this. I was moved by the pictures, artifacts, and stories. I want to go back to see and hear more. I HIGHLY recommend this!!

Intensely emotional

I thought I could not get any more emotiaonal than when I saw the attacks live on the news but this was an intensely emotional experience but not all of it sad. There were some humourous situations as well as the tough, sad, and depressing. The tour guide was actually Gary himself and I think this helped because everything he showed or explained he had experienced first hand. When I initially entered the room I thought how are we going to pass 1.5 hrs here but the truth is I could have sat there for a lot longer than the 2.25 hrs I did and not noticed the time going. If you want to feel like part of a piece of history (sad though that piece is) this tour will do that for you. I wanted to take all the exhibits with me and when I return to New York I will probably take this tour again and again. Anne

If you have any feelings for the events of 9/11, whether it be curiosity, involvement, passion, questions you need answered, then this experience will appeal to you. Touted as the biggest smallest museum in the world, it is just that, a simple room but filled with more stories and artifacts than time will allow you to fully grasp. This experience will reduce you to tears. It certainly did each person in the room with me. Touching actual pieces of the towers, listening to stories which accompany each of Gary Suson's brilliant photographs, all overwhelming experiences. Had the pleasure of meeting Gary on my visit and he was entertaining and humble, a pure gentleman. I highly recommend a visit to this museum when next in NYC. I know I will be returning. I went before we ventured to the site itself and feel better for the experience.

Something Everyone should view

As time passes, we tend to forget the significance and impact the attacks on 9/11 had on the lives directly impacted, the businesses, the City of NY, our country and the world. Many things will never be the same due to the events that took place on that infamous day. The photography and exhibits displayed in this small but extremely meaningfull museum, is something EVERYONE should see. There is an interactive (audio) message to all of the photos and artifacts -- some describing incredible stories about courage, heroism, etc. There is also a 20 minute video of the story behind the designated WTC photographer who was able to access many areas of the site that no one else was permitted to access. Well worth the trip. Not suitable for very young children.
