Best thing we did in Manhattan

The ground Zero museum is very hard work emotionally. It shows in photographs what happened after the cameras went away during the clean up. It is a small intimate setting, but don't mistake this for a lack of value for money - there is masses of information and photographs to help you to understand what the recovery workers went through as they cleared the site ready for redevelopment. You book in advance, and there were only 11 people in the museum when we went, which made it easier to cope with all the detail. The video footage makes even the toughest cry, but somehow, it is done in such a positive way that for all the emotion, you are glad you went. Lewis is lovely, and very helpful, and if you are lucky enough to attend when Gary is there,as we were, then he will sign your books and pictures for you, and spend all the time you need to make this the best value activity of anything we did during our stay in Manhattan. It isn't for children, but for the right group of adults it is a remarkable story told in photos, and I would recommend it to anyone. |

I was amazed at the level of effort that has gone into this Museum. It tells stories that we would otherwise be unaware of. This Museum is a must to see, as it captures the physical effort and the emotional effect on everyone that was involved in the 9/11 tragedy. I found it to be a very powerful and yet uplifting experience. |

Definitely a must see if you are at all interested in Ground Zero and/or 9/11. Very well done with plenty of pictures displayed. Short but concise descriptions given of each photo and item. We weren't rushed to leave the "workshop". |

Glad I took this Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour. I visited Ground Zero in 2004. When I read about this tour this year, I thought it sounded interesting & definitely wanted to do it since I was going to be in NY Sept. 12-18, 2007-6 years since it happened. Nothing gruesome but of course, some sad moments when you hear the stories behind the pictures. |

This is a must see. Alot of the items are all but inches away from a hand. Respect and trears keep them save though. This is a must see and nothing like anything on such a personal level where I lost my fire fighter brother. The stopped clock hit me HARD and the rest let's just say was a new river I unleased.
Thank you for making this personal and getting a real feel of items found and a story to go with each iteam. Simply push the code number into a a box and the head phones do the rest. I was smilply AMAZING
Thanks again,

The photos brought me into 9/11 & the recovery, making the "surreal" real. Something I believe everyone should experience. We had the honor of having the photographer/ artist as our tour guide. He has incredible talent & a heart to match! He knew & shared the story behind every photo. |

At first glance, the room of this museum workshop didn't look like much, but little did we know all of the photos, treasures and artifacts that would be revealed to us in the next 2-1/2 hours. It's obvious Gary Suson put his heart and soul into this project, and we are thankful for the opportunity to meet him and to see his work. |

This was a very emotional experience. The small scale and the personal interaction of the museum serves the viewer very well. It is as close to being "there" as I would ever want to be. |

The Ground Zero Museum was my favorite activity of the whole vacation. What an amazing piece of work put together by Gary Suson! Listening to the descriptions of each picture, and seeing the efforts put into the recovery of Ground Zero was unbelievable. The museum is just 1 small room, but is FULL of loss, sorrow, hope, happiness, and memories that will make you NEVER FORGET! I highly recommend visiting this museum. |

This museum is a must see for anyone in N.Y. It will bring the humaness of the tragedy of 9/11 to you in a very real way. Mr. Susson did a fabulous job in his photography and stories. Don't be fooled by the size of the museum, there's so much there you will be there the full time. I highly recommend taking this tour! |

I am an Australian firefighter touring the States in Sep 2007. I came across the museum while researching Ground Zero on the internet. It was one of the highlights of my trip.
I would recommend a visit to all. It is displayed in a very tasteful manner and in a very relaxed environment, plenty of time to take it all in. So many interesting pieces and the fact that most of them can be handled added to the visit . It is difficult to put my experience into words. All i can say is if you are considering a visit DO IT !!
You won't get to see this display anywhere else in the world. |

My husband and I really enjoyed the Ground Zero Museum Workshop tour. This is a must do. While the size may fool you, there is so much to see and learn! The pictures and artifacts are amazing! This is something that you must do when you go to NYC. |

It was nothing like we expected. The "smallness" of the environment only made the overall experience more touching, meaningful, and real. The guide was informative and honest. Although touching some of the reminants just didn't seem right to me, being in such close proximity to everything was surreal, amazing. I would recommend this to anyone visiting NY. |

Was not senstionalized, yet very sensitive & thought provoking. Helped realize what the recovery workers went through--although you could never realize the full intensity unless you were actually there.
Thought the project was done with a great deal of dignity & respect for all involved. |
