thought provoking - not at ground zero itself
Fri, Dec 26, 08   1:00 PM jfessler Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The workshop is a collection of about 100 photographs and artifacts from the recovery efforts at the world trade center site after 9/11, along with a self-guided audio tour. Each photo / artifact has a number and you enter the number on the audio device and listen to the photographer's narration about it. The narration is fascinating and adds immensely to the photographs. I brought my 12-year old son who had just started kindergarten when 9/11 happened and I think this was a meaningful way for him to connect with the events that helped shaped his start of school and probably his generation. They opened with a short very "produced" video that wasn't that interesting, but the museum itself was very good, and I was recommend it to anyone who wants to reflect seriously about this. I am very glad that I did it with my son. Children with short attention spans might lose interest quickly - this is not that "hands on" other than a few artifacts and the fact that you can pick which photographs to hear about. I did probably 2/3 of them in the 2 hours and that was heavy enough for me!

Most amazing museum we've ever been to!

This museum was fantastic and quite unlike any other in that you can interact with the exhibit by holding many of the objects. It provided such a visual reminder of the horror of 9/11 and while reliving some of that horror it also offers many poignant stories. It is these stories that stay with you and provide a human face to the tragedy. We'll certainly be telling people in Australia that it is a must do when visiting New York!

Emotional Experience

The experience brought a new understanding of the events following 9-11-01. This was my second visit and was as emotional as the first. The photographs of Gary Suson tell the story without explanation. You will understand the work of the New York Firefighters and their life's journey to help the victims and come away and not be the same!

SMALL PLACE, BUT ENOUGH TO MAKE US KNOW, REMEMBER AND LEARN MANY THINGS, DETAILS AND UNKNOWED HISTORIES ABOUT THAT DAY, THE PEOPLE WHO DIED, AND THE HEROES BORNED FROM THE TRAGEDY. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED.

I could feel what happened after 9.11
Tue, Dec 23, 08   11:00 AM takutan Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Other
the size of museum is pretty small. but I felt how people helped victims and felt. there are many pictures and stuff listenning to explanation. most of us must know this fact through media. but you can feel the fact that happened near Ground Zero. because new world trade center is under construction at the same place, you can't feel anything there anymore. that's why I recommend you guys to visit this museum.

One member of our group 23 yrs old, was not interesting in going. she came out of the musuem, with such emotion for the victims, volunteers and all the firemen and polceman, and was very appreciative of the musuem and what it has captured for the families and workers. It was great.

WONDERFUL HEART AND LOVE AND RESPECT OF 9/11
Sun, Dec 21, 08   2:00 PM PAMELASIMON Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
THIS WAS THE MOST RESPECTIBLE EXHIBIT OF CARE AND CONCERN FOR THE 9/11 VICTIMS AND FAMILIES THAT I HAVE SEEN. IT SHOWED MORE UNSEEN ITEMS AND PHOTOS BUT YET MAINTAINED SUCH A RESPECT FOR THE ONES WHO LOST LOVED ONES AND WERE LOST IN THIS TRAGIC ATTACK ON OUR COUNTRY. MY DAUGHTER AND I VISTITED NYC (SHE IS 15) AND SHE FOUND THIS MUSEUM TO BE ONE THAT SHE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS WORK. THIS IS A DON'T MISS.

A New York "Must See"
Sun, Dec 21, 08   12:00 PM LindaDavis Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We accidentally happened upon the museum - with no expectations we entered (mom, daughter 21, daughter 20) - It was an excellent portrayal of what it must have been like during the days following 9-11. I loved the fact the museum is small - not overwhelming - but well done. IT gives it a personal touch that many museums lack. We highly recommend this museum - we feel fortunate we happened upon it by accident - but it remains in our memories - long after we have returned home. Linda Davis - Missouri

A Sobering Reminder..............

Location, Location, Location. If that's what turns you on don't go. If you want to re- experience the feelings of 9-11 and see some amazing artifacts then go. The tour was primarily self-guided, but with a very professional intro and explanation by our guide. My daughter and I spent nearly the full two hours experiencing "first hand" what it must have been like that horrible morning. It cements my foritude to encourage the new administration to agressively continue the Bush Doctrine of a "no holds" barred in our fight to combat and bring terrorism to its knees, in spite of the "inconveniences" here at home occasionally. Thumbs up to Gary for the personal sacrifice to bring this to the public. Well worth the price of admission, as we both learned many things that we did not know about the attack and its aftermath.

Very Impressive

I will recommend this biggest little museum in New York to anyone who wants to learn more about the days after september 11th. The museum is very impressive and the photos inside the museum do all have their own story which can be learned by using the audioguide. This museum gives the victims a face, a personal story.

Excellent

This was an excellent museum, very well organized. So much enjoyed being able to go at my own pace, by using the earphones. Needed a little more than 2 hours to hear all 100 stories. I only got through #77. Would recommend this to anyone!

Holy Ground
Tue, Dec 16, 08   11:00 AM beckydean Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
I appreciated going at my own speed from exhibit to exhibit. I have been to Ground Zero numerous times since October of 2001 but I found this experience more spiritual and reflective than being at the actual site. Ground Zero truly is Holy Ground.
