Intensely emotional
Fri, Nov 30, 07   11:30 AM AnneOS Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I thought I could not get any more emotiaonal than when I saw the attacks live on the news but this was an intensely emotional experience but not all of it sad. There were some humourous situations as well as the tough, sad, and depressing. The tour guide was actually Gary himself and I think this helped because everything he showed or explained he had experienced first hand. When I initially entered the room I thought how are we going to pass 1.5 hrs here but the truth is I could have sat there for a lot longer than the 2.25 hrs I did and not noticed the time going. If you want to feel like part of a piece of history (sad though that piece is) this tour will do that for you. I wanted to take all the exhibits with me and when I return to New York I will probably take this tour again and again. Anne

If you have any feelings for the events of 9/11, whether it be curiosity, involvement, passion, questions you need answered, then this experience will appeal to you. Touted as the biggest smallest museum in the world, it is just that, a simple room but filled with more stories and artifacts than time will allow you to fully grasp. This experience will reduce you to tears. It certainly did each person in the room with me. Touching actual pieces of the towers, listening to stories which accompany each of Gary Suson's brilliant photographs, all overwhelming experiences. Had the pleasure of meeting Gary on my visit and he was entertaining and humble, a pure gentleman. I highly recommend a visit to this museum when next in NYC. I know I will be returning. I went before we ventured to the site itself and feel better for the experience.

Something Everyone should view

As time passes, we tend to forget the significance and impact the attacks on 9/11 had on the lives directly impacted, the businesses, the City of NY, our country and the world. Many things will never be the same due to the events that took place on that infamous day. The photography and exhibits displayed in this small but extremely meaningfull museum, is something EVERYONE should see. There is an interactive (audio) message to all of the photos and artifacts -- some describing incredible stories about courage, heroism, etc. There is also a 20 minute video of the story behind the designated WTC photographer who was able to access many areas of the site that no one else was permitted to access. Well worth the trip. Not suitable for very young children.

Presentation allows for individual contemplation

Our group consisted of 13 and 14 year old Canadian female ice hockey players. The unique format of the exhibit allowed me to introduce/present what I, an adult, know to be important information in a way that was not obviously "educational".

This was great for all of us, from my 12 year old son up through the adults in the group. It was hopeful, yet very real about the emotion and pain experienced by those touched by the event, which is really all of us. The hope in the situation is what shone through. Thank you for showing that side of things.

Best time spent while in NYC.

While visiting NYC for the first time, my family and I did a lot of sightseeing. We enjoyed the Ground Zero Museum the most. It was very informative, thought provoking and tastefully done. It was great to be able to hold some of the pieces. The stories were truly touching. I would highly recommend the museum. I brought home books for my husband who didn't get to go with us. The museum is well worth the nominal admission fee.

I'm glad that we decided to visit the workshop as afterwards we visited the ground zero site and it just felt like any construction site. The workshop is very well done and I don't think you can visit New York without taking time to reflect on what happened to the city.

My mom, sister and I went to the Ground Zero Museum Workshop and were so glad we did. The photos were beautiful, moving and thought-provoking. We learned so much about that day that changed the lives of all Americans. I encourage everyone to go.

Reverent Remembrance Evoked In Close Encounter
Sat, Nov 17, 07   2:30 PM JoanBurke Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
It is as close to being in the "footprints" in the aftermath of the 9/11 WTC tragedy as one can get. It is ,literally, a tangible close encounter of unspeakable horror and grief. There is a sacredness to the exhibit of appproximately 70 artifacts and close up photography. Holding that small section of Flight 011's wing ,and glass and steel from the towers was a profound sobering experience never to be forgotten. It is certainly the most important historical artifacts interactive experience in my 59 years. I want to go back, and am encouraging everyone I know to visit the Ground Zero Museum Workshop followed by a trip to the WTC site, and St. Paul's Chapel for the deepest understanding of the events of those terrible days. Allow a whole day to take it all in, to reflect, and to pray.

Gary was not there on our tour day. However, our two guides were personable and knowledgeable. It was a learning experience and a very intense emotional experience. The photographs, stories, and items recovered made 9/11 real for us once again. The room may be small but what is contained in that small room is amazing.

Very Emotionally Moving

My wife & I and both adult children were very impressed by the Ground Zero Museum. Great video to start the experience. We were fortunate to have Gary Suson present & he spoke for 10 minutes & his insight was greatly appreciated. The photos are top-notch & the audio system that allows you to hear the story behind each photo, in Gary's own words, made the photos come alive. We would encourage anyone to visit this museum. It has an amazing ability to bring you very close to the reality of what this recovery process was like. It will enable you to appreciate & admire the dedication, bravery & sensitivity that was a part of every individual involved in the process.

An informative glimspe into history

We didn't know what to expect as we approached the museum. We were happy with the reverence respect shown to the families of the disaster. It was a good way to (if you will) ease us into visiting the actual site. I have been telling my friends and family about our experience and I would highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting the city,. -Carol Sobolewski

So worthwhile!
Sun, Nov 11, 07   12:00 PM fishfor5 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My two daughters (seventeen and twenty) and I visited Gary Suson's museum and workshop. We were impressed with the respect and care Gary showed for the victims, survivors and the countless people who helped with the recovery. Through his photos, collection of artifacts and commentary the miles between our home in the west and Ground Zero were diminished. We felt a connection to the loss, the grief and the hope experienced in the months after 9/11. Each photo is numbered and corresponds with a commentary narrated by Gary on an audio wand. With each of us in control of our own wand we were able to pick and choose those photos that were particularly touching or interesting. The room was large enough to accomodate our group but small enough to feel more like a room in a home than in a museum. We all agree the time spent at Ground Zero Museum and Workshop was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC.

We are a group of women from ages 26 to 72. We all enjoyed this museum, it was fabulous. We were lucky enough to have the photographer be at the museum while we were there. This is a must do, while you are in New York!
