An experience that will stay with you forever.....

We weren't really sure what to expect. However when we got there we were overwhelmed by what we saw. This is not a large museum but more of an intimate insight of what it was like during the aftermath of 9/11, a photographic journey in to the hearts and minds of those involved. Believe me when I say its a real tear jerker and well worth seeing.....

A powerful reminder of the 9/11 disaster.

The presentation was very informative & the attendant very helpful. But be prepared for an emotional gut punch , you may need a few minutes after the presentation to gather yourself. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

THOUGHT PROVOKING
Mon, Dec 1, 08   2:00 PM 08nytrip Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I thought that the workshop was truly thought provoking. I think that any and everybody that sees ground zero, should also attend this workshop. There were many things that I saw that were not in the news when this terrible event occurred. This is our history and everybody should understand this event so that we do not forget it and so that it does not happen again. Thank you for the insight and for all of the truly thought provoking facts of this terrible event that occurred over seven years ago. We will never forget.

A very touching tribute

Gary has assembled an amazing collection of intimate photographs accurately depicting the sacrifices and the suffering of those who helped in the rescue efforts following the collapse of the towers. His project concentrates on the firefighters' and police officers' work. The workshop is very small - could be TEN times the size and still fill it all. I assume the future permanent memorial will be larger and will incorporate memoirs of the civilians who never made it out of the tower, those in the aircrafts, and those at the sites of the other attacks that same day. This tour is worth every penny and every minute of one's time in the city.

My husband and I took our two sons age 24 and 21 on this tour as part of a weekend in NYC. It is at times, difficult to find activities that appeal to both of our sons as our oldest has a learning disability and our youngest is a junior at an Ivy League school. They BOTH loved this tour! Likewise, so did my husband and I. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in this very significant part of American history. It is moving, thought provoking and well presented. Definitely on of the highlights of our weekend.

The day we went was a special day as Gary Suson was there. It was a special treat to meet the man who took all these rare photos. This is a must see, the museum is small but the impact is very real. It will leave you speachless.

One of the best experiences I have ever had learning about 9/11 and remembering the events that changed our way of life forever. I recommend it 100% and we even had a chance to meet Mr. Suson who was such a wonderful person!

An interesting and very worthwhile tour but very hard to describe in words - you have to see it yourself in person.

Worth a visit

This Tour was booked by accident as a result of a miscommunication between our group of friends. Having said that we were all glad that we had made that mistake as we found the experience extremely worth while. The information available was from first hand experience of being at Ground Zero and this was presented in such a clever, well thought out way. We all said that we would recommend this to anyone we know who is planning to visit New York as it gave a different perspective than just going to the World Financial Centre and overlooking the Ground Zero Site.

An excellent presentation by both our guide and the headphone commentary. Very moving and real insight into the bravery and tenacity of the men and women who excavated the site.

An absolute MUST do without hesitation

The Ground Zero Museum Workshop brings reality, sadness and comfort together to remind us all to "Never Forget". Mr. Suson's photgraphs are remarkable and the artifacts and untold stories are breathtaking. There are no graphic displays of the horrors that took place during and after 9/11. The Museum is a place where you can go to honor and to respect the thousands of lives that were lost. It is suitable for children as they can learn about about a tragic event that changed the world they live in without bringing fear to their hearts. The fact that you can actually hold some of the artifacts is such a concrete way to bring reality to those of us that weren't there. There is one piece in particular, not to touch, not to photograph. It is the only remains that one gentleman has of his daughter and what Mr. Suson did for him is the most poiniant, heart touching act of kindness one can imagine. You absolutely must do the right thing and visit The Ground Museum Workshop.

Great pictures, good narration from the tour guide

I was surprised on how small the museum was and lack of professionalism of the setup. I felt like I was going into someone's apartment...not to sure about going in. I did like the humbleness and the sincerety of the photography. The photos chosen to use were in good taste and mindful of the feelings and privacy of the families involved.

Powerful and Impressive - Do not miss...
Fri, Nov 28, 08   1:00 PM sbirdsong Female 30-39 Local Family Without Children
As a local NYer I surprisingly had not heard of this incredible museum. My family visited and were staying at a hotel near the museum and suggested we go. Of all of the tours and museums in the city, this is a must visit. 911 is an event that impacted the world and Gary Suson's photography is powerful and tastefully displayed. The museum is actually a small room which appropriately creates a sense of intimacy in a caring environment. The beginning of the visit to the museum is part talk/part video introduction and then you are set free on a self-guided tour which allows each visitor to have private moments with specific photos and items on display while listening to Gary describe in detail. The experience is moving and I couldn't recommend more highly.
