Healing

What an amazing collection of photographs, artifacts and stories from that day. I'm from the Midwest, but my love of New York City made the events of 09/11 feel as though it hit much closer to home. The stories, the photographs went a long way in helping me to heal.

A few of my friends were wives of firefighters. The presentation was very well done. Sean was the host on September 22. Being able to listen to explanations of specific pictures was to me a great idea. The host was to the point and seemed enthusiastic to answers questions.

The museum was fantastic! Considering the subject matter, the information and artifact were presented in a very intimate way. You were able to explore artifact and stories at your own pace and then a very knowledgable, understanding tour guide offered further explanations as needed. This was a very powerful, emotionally intense experience that brought forth the untold stories and truths of such a memorable day in history. I will never forget... I highly recommend this experience to all...

I was disappointed that my friends wanted to go to a see this when we flew to NY. Little did I know how much I would enjoy this experience. I have to say it was the highlight of my trip. The people at the site did a wonderful job. I would recommend it to anyone going to NY. I already did. Hopefully, they will follow my suggestions.

We had the privlidge of having Mr. Gary Suson lead our tour. The museum is well thought out and a tribute to all of those who lost their lives on 9/11. We will definately visit the museum again when we are in NYC. Thank you Mr. Suson for taking the time to lead our tour.

Small, but sets out a world of Knowlegde of 9/11

This is a small gem in the meat packing district of Manhattan and worth every penny and minute. You could visit the WTC visitor center and get a glimpse of 9/11 and the future of the WTC site, but you must visit this workshop. I room not much larger than my bedroom but full of so many things to see and listen about. The stories of each item and photograph reach out to you. Even if you did not lose someone in the events of 9/11 you will still feel the sadness of that day through the stories told. Muson was the only person allowed down at the site to take photographs that now echo around the world. He also has pieces he collected in rememberance of the families who had lost. This is a great stop on any one's trip to Manhattan and strongly recommended.

Moving

It was very moving and it gave me and my boyfriend an insight to/idea of the impact September 11 had on America and its people. It's remarkable that Gary and all these people came together in such an inspiring way and even more inspiring that Gary chose to put his whole life and soul into making this museum and thereby keeping the memory of this amazing recovery alive. In my opinion, the museum deserves all the attention it can get and I'm just thankful that I was fortunate enough to find out about it on www.viator.com Vicki, Denmark

A Must See
Fri, Sep 21, 07   11:30 AM VBeamguard Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
The museum touched me in a very special way. It showed the "after effects" to every day people. I liked it because it wasn't about the dreadful day itself, but the tough and touching moments after. I felt seeing the recovery in the eyes of one compassionate man instead of the media was the key ingredient in making this museum a must see. As a first time visitor to New York, I could have missed the other sites and my trip would have still been great, not going to this museum would have taken away from the "trip of a lifetime" feeling I had after we returned home.

Moving 'experience' and worth ten times the price!

This experience was moving, inspirational, rewarding and interesting. You see, hear and feel the experience of the 911 recovery. You move thru the museum at your own pace, with an electronic museum guide narrated by Gary Marlon Suson himself. This tour is truly tailored to your view - you can spend lots of time looking at one thing, bypass whatever you like, ask questions and hold some of the artifacts in your own hands. And, if you're lucky, the artist himself will be there to guide your tour and answer any questions. This was the best museum experience we have ever had - bar none.

Spectacular

I did not know what to expect after arriving at the location. Once you enter the room it is like you enter a part of history. Seeing the pictures and all the relics that were recovered from Ground Zero made you feel sad but overwhelmed by everything. It is unbelievable. A must see by everyone. Helps you inderstand more of what happened that day and for months after that fateful day. Gary did a wonderful job. I hope it stays open for a very long time. I want my grandchildren to see it. I stll can't stop talking about it and what I learned that day. The earphones and the ability to hear the stories behind the pictures and items from Ground Zero is the greatest idea. Thanks for the best part of my day trip to New York.

It's a rare thing to have such individual guidence in a museum. The space is small and therefore you are able to really begin to process the magnitude of 9/11. It's a very special and unique experience compared to larger museums and gives a feeling of what that day must have been like for people who were actually in NY as oppossed to what people saw through the media watching from around the world.

My son has read and watched many documentaries about 9-11. He is 30 years old and lives in Colorado. He and I attending the workshop and it was the highlight of the trip to NY. We were especially moved because the photographer and curator of the museum was out guide for the experience. His knowledge, openness, warmth, and emotional connection brought the experience to a highly sensitive level. We are recommending it to as many of our acquaintances and friends who may be traveling to NY in the near future. It is an incredibly moving experience and I can't give it a high enough rating!

It was humbling to actually be able to hold and touch things from that day. Most of us have no idea what people went through, but this tour helps you to realize. I have not stopped talking about it since I was there.
