| The visit to the groung zero museum was both emotional and inspiring. We brought our two daughters ages 12 and 10 and we all felt the museum was an important memorial to the victims and families of 911. It truly helps people to never forget. The material is presented in an incredibly solemn and respectful way, yet we are reminded of the amazing amount of love and unity which should serve as a great reminder of how to live. | ||||||

| Our group had a cross section of age, myself at 42, My Mom at 67 and my daughter and her friend at 13. We all thought it was wonderful. The movie was touching, emotional and very tastefully done. The artifacts are great to be able to look at in person and hear the stories behind them all. I would highly recommend. Debbie Torrice | ||||||

| A great review of the actual occurrence and the events involving the immediate and extended recovery attempts. Albeit reviewed many time over for days, weeks, and months, it was refreshing to have it rekindled in our minds so that we will "Never Forget". Whatever the reason, innocent people should not perish here or any where. | ||||||

| The exhibit was very good. I particularly liked having the hand-held device which gave you information on all the numbered objects. It was nice to personally meet the author of the pictures and book. There also was a fireman who was at Ground Zero on Sept 11th. After everyone had left the exhibit, I had a chance to speak with him one on one. That made it more personal for me and I couldn't have been more pleased with the overall exhibit. | ||||||

Essential and Moving

| My sixteen year-old son and I had intended to visit the actual Ground Zero. We found the GZMW on the Internet and went there instead. We are thrilled that we did. It is off the beaten path in a great New York City neighborhood, but an easy cab ride down Ninth Avenue. A visit here is essential to developing an understanding of what the WTC attack and GZ recovery were like. The video is both moving and understated, a contrast to the political noise we are all so accustomed to. Though the museum is the size of a large living rooom, one could spend hours there and feel guilty about leaving. You leave wanting to learn even more. The first person testimonials given by both Gary Suson and the NYC fire fighters are of genuine historic significance. Years from now my son will tell his children of what this day was like and how in a brief afternoon he heard, saw and touched history. It is also a rare opportunity to meet an important artist and contributor in a deeply personal context. Also to be noted is Mr. Suson's mention of The Anne Frank House as a model for the exhibits and what the GZMW represent. For lack of an insightful term, one wants to examine the connection between the WTC and the death of Anne Frank more closely. The first thing I did the following Sunday morning was order materials on the Anne Frank House and Museum. As much as the GZMW teaches, it also shows how much we do not know or understand. Humbling. Sad. Enlightening. Absolutely not to be missed. . | ||||||

| The "museum" was a very moving and tasteful experience...With our 8 and 13 yr old daughters we went to the museum after we went to the Ground Zero site and the nearby church. The photographer and a fireman, present at the attack spoke to us, using handheld recorders we self toured the artifacts and photos at the museum and were able to ask questions of both men. A wonderful opportunity to learn more about this tragic event. | ||||||

| Everything was delayed due to the rain..starting with the train into Penn Station, then taking the subway uptown to drop the luggage off and checking in taking FOREVER, then taking the subway down to Ground Zero and arriving at 12:03pm. I called the morning of the tour to see if we could reschedule for Monday, but I was denied. | ||||||

| This was the best tour I have ever been on. I am so happy that I went to this musuem to grieve the loss of lives on September 11th. I highly would advise anyone who is going to New York City to experience this beautiful exhibit of photography. We went here before we went to ground zero and I am so happy we did. This is in such an intimate setting that is gives one time to reflect and really feel what was occuring during the recovery process of Ground Zero. Many people are still suffering from this event today and this musuem helps support these wonderful individuals. I thank them for letting me experience such a moving place. | ||||||

| On a business trip to NYC, I was interested in visiting a museum related to 9/11 and was glad I found this workshop. Only open for daily tours, this workshop is lead by a fireman who was worked on Ground Zero shortly after the 9/11 attacks. His commentaries are very touching and personal. I appreciated watching a commemorative video, seeing all these pictures and learning more about found artifacts. The visit is fairly short (probably 1-1.5h), only includes a one-room exhibit but it is worth one's time. Be sure to register ahead of time as all visits need to be pre-booked. | ||||||

WTC Museum Workshop was Stunning

| I wrote this in my blog: A yellow taxi dropped us in the historic Chelsea meatpacking district. We were there to visit the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. The museum was in a small second-floor loft, and very well done. It contained WTC artifacts collected (not personal belongings) and poignant photographs taken by Gary Suson. One piece was the most chilling for me. It was AA11 aluminum fuselage melted into a warped Dali-like mutation. One photograph portrays a firefighter holding a book with his finger marking a passage. My mother told me not to miss it on the audio tour so I figured it was some biblical thing. In fact, the book was one in the Harry Potter series that his son, also a firefighter, had read to his two young children on the evening of September 10th, 2001. The son never got to read any more… We walked quietly for a long time after visiting the museum, none of us speaking much. About an hour later, after walking a sun-drenched few miles along the Hudson River, my son Kyle and I were looking into the pit where the dust of the dead still rustles in the fall breeze. We grabbed a cab and got out of there. It was the last day of Kyle’s 14th year and it was one he’ll always remember. I’ll remember it too, but I’ll remember to read him Harry Potter even more. | ||||||

Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual Connection

| From two days after 9/11/01 to every year since, I have visited and photographed Ground Zero. I thought I knew and felt everything about that fateful day until my visit to the Ground Zero Museum. I had recently visited the Tribute Center, where I was moved and more enlightened than I had been before. My visit to the Ground Zero Museum was beyond anything I had experienced, known, or felt. It was an intimate and amazing display and narration of the rescue effort and all those connected to it. I was lucky enough to have Gary Marlon Suson, in person, who photographed the rescue effort for nine months, guide us through his unique and emotional journey, punctuating his visuals with his stories and artifacts. To be able to touch and hold these artifacts formed an intense and emotional connection to the recovery effort, the rescuers, and all the victims and their families. From the crosses cut out of the mangled, steel beams to the electric clock that stopped at 10:02 and 14 seconds (the exact time the South Tower fell) , was an out-of-body connection that cannot be described in words. You really have to be there. This exhibit is a "MUST" for every human being as an intellectual, emotional, and spiritual connector to humanity's good that rises from the bad. My female (age 50-59) companion's review is as follows: Ground Zero Museum Workshop is Inspirational I found this experience to be truly worthwhile. As a resident of New York, needless to say, the events of 9/11 will stay with me forever. I continue to visit Ground Zero, as I am still coming to grips with what happened on that horrible day. I had no idea that Gary Marlon Suson had been asked to photograph the recovery effort until I heard about this museum. To be able to meet him and have him share his experiences with our group is something I will always remember. His photographs and artifacts are amazing, and his story needs to be told. I would highly recommend this workshop tour to everyone. I enthusiastically have been spreading the word. | ||||||

| What an amazing experience and i would 100% recommend that anyone considering going to The Ground Zero Workshop should definately go. Gary Marlon Suson was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic. He explained eveything from the heart. It was the most moving and powerful experience i have ever been a part of. I also purchased the book which Gary personally signed and this to shows the scenes in so much detail, I also felt that where the money was going to charity was superb to. Also even the toilet was beautifully set out!! Since being back home i have told all my friends and family about the time i spent in the Workshop and have fully recommended when any of them travel to New York that this attraction is a must. Every penny spent was worth every second spent in the Workshop. The motto "Never Forget" is the most fitting tribute. | ||||||

| When I returned home from several weeks of volunteering in a respite center at Ground Zero in 2001, I was desperate to make my husband understand what I felt. After five years, he finally "gets it" because of this wonderful place. My husband told me that it was the best place we could have visited for him to get a real sense of what I saw and went through while I was serving the rescue/recovery workers. Thank you, Gary, from the bottom of my heart. You have created a beautiful tribute. I feel more healed after visiting your museum and talking to you than I have in all of the five years that have passed since I've returned home. I can't thank you enough and look forward to returning with friends and family soon. | ||||||
