the children will never forget

I took two 10 year old twins to this museum. As we left, the girls turned to me and said, "Can we come back here sometime? " Both girls were touched by the museum...I felt the size was perfect for the girls and the personal, respectful nature of the staff added to their experience. Gary Suson was kind enough to take a picture of the girls with their cell phone which the girls treasure. I am a museum consultant, working on over 100 museums. I will tell you that this place is special because of the sensitivity and humanity that was characteristic of the design decisions.

This experience is a transport back to the very rough times of post 9/11. It was emotional and at times difficult and impossible to hold back the tears.

We are a family of six ranging from me at 57 to my wife, 47, three girls 15-19 and a 13 year old boy. All of us found the experience very special indeed. I well remember that terrible day in September 2001, when I was in Hong Kong and stayed up for most of the night. This was harrowing enough but I had no idea how terrible the aftermath proved to be, nor that more than 10% of casualties were members of the NYFD. We will remember this unique and insightful experience for a long time.

This was my second time seeing this - took my family this time - a very insightful museum, very tactfully done.

A very reverent reminder of that fateful day.

As a member of the Corps family, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to provide assistance to the NY District, USACE in November 2001. As it turns out, it was around the same time that Gary began taking photos of the recovery. While I never worked or was at the recovery site, I worked only a few blocks away. The smell in the air became imprinted in my memory along with the other sites and sounds. When I walked into the Ground Zero Museum Workshop all of the memories came flooding back along with the tears of that fateful day. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to see how Gary had documented what took place, and to meet and thank him for what he had done for all of us. It is through his work that we will never forget that day.

We didn't know what we expected to find, but we found a reverend museum of expression for what occurred on 9/11. Talking to the photographer added a layer of more emotion we weren't expecting. To go here first and then to go to Ground Zero made the day emtionally draining, but definitely special. I think it is a very special museum. Thank you so much for offering it.

Non political. About the rescue effort and following year, Not about the event. Artistic. Sensitive. Extremely well done. Meet the ONLY photographer who was allowed into Ground Zero.

We loved the museum. There is and will be no other like it. It is very tasteful and respectful to all that were involved in the disaster. If you have even begun to forget, this is a must for all. I thank Gary for the love it took to create a place to think and remember the days of and following the bombings. He was also very kind to talk to us, since we were so very lucky to meet him.

provided healing to the pain of the past

I have wanted to do something and know more of how to pray for the families and friends of victims. This was a wonderful tribute to our fallen heros and has given me a history lesson and a reminder of how good Americans are - deep down inside. The reverence provided to the victims, the support to the families, the memories shared all were done very tastefully and respectful of those gone and those remaining. I highly recommend this. it's an intimate setting where you can remember and not be jostled and shoved around as you are on the streets and in tourist attractions! REMEMBER and take you kids (recommend 9 or older) and tell them of the day we were attacked.

Ground Zero Museum Workshp Tour - Excellent
Sat, Dec 1, 07   11:30 AM jdmaylath Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We were lucky to have Gary Marlon Suson introduce the tour. He and Lou (the other FDNY fire fighter that hosted the tour that day) were very personable and willing to answer any and all questions. It's an intimate experience, and I'm glad they're keeping it that way. It was powerful to hear the various stories, see the artifacts, and remember the events of 9/11 and the years of recovery that have followed. Would publicze to future participants that this tour does NOT actually involve a visit to Ground Zero. Thanks. We enjoyed and appreciated the experience.

Something Everyone should view

As time passes, we tend to forget the significance and impact the attacks on 9/11 had on the lives directly impacted, the businesses, the City of NY, our country and the world. Many things will never be the same due to the events that took place on that infamous day. The photography and exhibits displayed in this small but extremely meaningfull museum, is something EVERYONE should see. There is an interactive (audio) message to all of the photos and artifacts -- some describing incredible stories about courage, heroism, etc. There is also a 20 minute video of the story behind the designated WTC photographer who was able to access many areas of the site that no one else was permitted to access. Well worth the trip. Not suitable for very young children.

Reverent Remembrance Evoked In Close Encounter
Sat, Nov 17, 07   2:30 PM JoanBurke Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
It is as close to being in the "footprints" in the aftermath of the 9/11 WTC tragedy as one can get. It is ,literally, a tangible close encounter of unspeakable horror and grief. There is a sacredness to the exhibit of appproximately 70 artifacts and close up photography. Holding that small section of Flight 011's wing ,and glass and steel from the towers was a profound sobering experience never to be forgotten. It is certainly the most important historical artifacts interactive experience in my 59 years. I want to go back, and am encouraging everyone I know to visit the Ground Zero Museum Workshop followed by a trip to the WTC site, and St. Paul's Chapel for the deepest understanding of the events of those terrible days. Allow a whole day to take it all in, to reflect, and to pray.

Gary was not there on our tour day. However, our two guides were personable and knowledgeable. It was a learning experience and a very intense emotional experience. The photographs, stories, and items recovered made 9/11 real for us once again. The room may be small but what is contained in that small room is amazing.
