Disappointed!

I don't call this a museum. I thought it was a personal photographer's showing of his pictures. You play on peoples' emotions and probably pass yourselves off as firefighters when in fact you may not be. I was disappointed!

I would strongly recommend this tour. In an intimate setting, it is very moving and interesting to hear about and see the photos of the recovery efforts through the point of view of someone with such intimate knowledge and access. It is hard to describe the feeling that comes over you when you see the twisted metal from one of the planes, or when you see some of the items that survived pretty much intact, e.g., a pair of glasses, a magazine, a blush compact; items you use or see everyday and don't give a second thought to but which develop a new meaning because of where they came from. Being close to these items really puts a face on those poor people who thought they were just going to work as usual on a beautiful fall day without knowing that would be their last. God bless the recovery workers who had to deal with that on a daily basis.

I learned so much about the cleanup and aftermath of the attacks and thought it was well worth the money. I actually met the man who took the photos and bought a book and he signed it for me.

A Classic Intimate Experience

My experience was very touching. I can't describe in words what this museum meant to me. Seeing the tragedy of 9/11 on television can't begin to describe the emotion packed into this museum. I highly recommend that anyone visiting New York take the time to come experience this museum first hand. Thank You, Jeremy Work

If you want to find out all about 9/11 then this is the place to go! Each tour is done in small groups so it is very personal. Its very moving and I recommend it to everyone visiting NYC.

Emotional,a must see for every traveller.

My husband and I were struck by the emotion we felt once we entered the Museum, The pictures the photographer took told the devastating tragedy and terror of that terrible day in New York. You are given a phone to use as you walk around the room and listen to his words. The young man there on the day told a lovely story about one of the husband's arriving there to look at articles and in particular a piece of the plane that hit one of the buildings. His wife had been killed on that day as she was high up in one of the Towers. There were tears running down several peoples faces including my own............... It has been put together so well and anyone who is travelling to New york this is a must . We travelled from Australia and it was one of the "must do's" on our list, and we weren't disappointed. 9/11 was a terrible, terrible day in everyones life wherever one lives around the world . It has changed our lives forever and this very special Ground Zero Museum enabled my husband and I to spend time there to just look, feel and listen to what went on that day and try to feel in some small way what that terrible day meant to all those families involved. I would highly recommend taking the time to visit Ground Zero Museum Workshop. My husband and I will never forget it.................

WORKSHOP VERY TASTEFULLY DONE

MY SISTER AND I TOOK A DAY TRIP TO NYC TO ATTEND THE GROUND ZERO MUSEUM AND ALSO VISITED GROUND ZERO AND ST. PETER'S CHURCH AFTERWARDS. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE MUSEUM. FIRST OFF, THE SIZE OF THE GROUP WAS VERY INTIMATE (WE HAD ABOUT ONLY 8 PEOPLE WHICH INCLUDED MY SISTER AND MYSELF) WHICH WE ENJOYED. THE TOUR GUIDE EVEN GREETED US AS WE GOT OFF THE ELEVATOR WHEN WE ARRIVED. COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT THE MUSEUM CONSISTED OF ONLY ONE ROOM, HOWEVER, WE WERE THERE FOR 2 HOURS LISTENING TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER TELL THE STORY BEHIND EACH INCREDIBLE PHOTO THAT HE SNAPPED ON 9/11 AND DURING THE PAINFUL RECOVERY EFFORTS. I COULDN'T HELP BUT BREAK DOWN DURING A VIDEO PRESENTATION. THE ARTIFACTS WERE INCREDIBLE AND WE WERE EVEN ABLE TO HOLD A PIECE OF GLASS FROM THE WTC IN OUR HANDS. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES IN THE MUSEUM WHICH I BROUGHT HOME TO SHOW MY FAMILY. IT'S SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T BE OVERLOOKED WHEN IN NYC. MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA.

AMAZING & HEART-WRENCHING!!!!!
Fri, Apr 25, 08   11:00 AM troglon1 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I was skeptical about this tour because I had never heard of the museum and alot of New Yorkers aren't aware of it either. My husband and I were there for three days and this was the most amazing, heart-wrenching, wonderful, tragic experience of our lives. Gary went through alot (God Bless Him) to show the American people that Recovery can happen. I believe this museum needs to be more well known. It really hits home!! People need to see this so they don't forget!! It not only helped us remember what happened on Sept. 11, but also made us more aware of what it was really like and what Gary and all the other Recovery workers went through. People need to remember this tragic event. ..Dale & Cherie Tweedie, Alton, IL

Very moving expereince- tells the human side.

I brought my 13 year old daughter to the Ground Zero museum to help her to remember what happened that day. There are no graphic materials in the museum. The focus is on telling the human side of what when on for the 9 months of the recovery. We spent 2 hours viewing the 100 items that were in the museum. I know this will sound strange, but you should look in the bathroom because they are letters from the children around the world and a poster of the Band of Fathers that is very moving. After visiting the museum, we walked down to Ground Zero, which is pretty well covered up for construction. We also found St. Paul's Chapel, right across from Ground Zero very moving as well as going around the block to St. Peter's and seeing the cross that fell from the 67th floor of the WTC.

I found out about this workshop by searching the internet. I'm from Vancouver BC and remember waking up September 11th after most of the events had already taken place (due to the time zone and my sleeping in). It was extremely emotional to see the footage and actual artifacts from that day. I thought it was very tastefully put together and they definitely keep the best interests of the families effected at heart. I have already recommended the workshop to a friend travelling to New York in August.

Too Much Self Promotion
Thu, Apr 24, 08   11:00 AM dpierce125 Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The WTC Museum was worth the trip - particularly since the WTC site itself is under construction with not much to see at all. A visit to the WTC site followed up by the museum was worthwhile together. However - there was far too much self promotion on the part of the photographer! The tapes that you view at the begining was more about how hard it was for the photographer at Ground Zero - and how he had a hard time coping with the event - and not enough about how hard is was for everyone else. Take away this shameless self promotion and it will be a more worthwhile museum.

A moving subject gently and bravely presented
Tue, Apr 22, 08   1:00 PM harrisonplj Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
The simplicity of the presentation and surroundings adds to the impact of one man's experience through his collection of images and artefacts. Amongst the group I attended with were two young women in their early twenties who found the exhibition to be both painful and inspiring to view. If you, like me, are having the personal debate of whether to visit the exhibition is voyeristic or in some way too soon after the tragic event, please be assured it feels right; it feels respectful.
