A wonderful opportunity to revisit 9/11 from a completely different perspective - these objects, photos and their narratives capture more than words alone could ever describe and give a true sense of what it was like being part of the recovery efforts. Highly recommend it!

A powerful reminder of our nation's resilience

I attended this workshop with 5 teens, ages 15-19. All but one (15 yr old boy) really responded well and got a lot out of the experience. I liked the focus on the ordinary heroes among us who sacrificed so much in the aftermath of 9/11. I think we too often focus on the actual event. We left with a feeling of reverence and gratitude. Not your typical New York experience, but definately worth the time and money.

Never forget!

Because 9/11 is the most horrifying event that I have ever experienced, I felt I had to visit The Museum. I did not loose anybody close to me that day, but my sadness remain even after so many years. At The Museum I couldn't take my eyes off the different exhibits... That horrendous event gave such profound meaning to objects that otherwise would be discarded or even ignored... I know that I'll go back and visit this museum again.

Very moving

The Museum was very highly recommended and certainly fulfilled our expectations. It is rather difficult to put into words, the experience of seeing the World Trade Center workers through the eyes of the photographer, and also seeing the artifacts from the fallen towers. It was a very moving experience for myself and the 3 other members of our party and we had no regrets about heading to the area in heavy rains. It was well worth finding it on 14th St. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was wonderful also, to have the speaker system at each exhibit to be able to hear the story behind each photo and exhibit. We highly recommend this Museum.

Interesting photos. Did not like self-guided portion. I could have got that information off of the internet.

A tasteful and intimate journey

When I visited New York I found it difficult to "feel" what had happened at the WTC. At the moment, it is a building site. Although this museum is located away from the WTC, it is a tasteful and intimate journey. The museum is a small room with comfy chairs and lots of photographs and real artefacts, a dvd presentation with extracts of emergency services' radio transmissions and a self guided commentary of the artefacts on display. Well worth a visit, although a little away from the "action". However the meat packaging district is easy to get to by subway, with coffee shops/deli to enjoy in a town centre patio whilst you wait to go the museum.

This is an interesting museum mainly done with photography. It also has some artifacts that are very detailed. They encourage you to handle them and to study them. This is a small but very complete type of museum that is will bring you close to the people that worked with the recovery of the bodies. Since it is so very personal it can get emotional so be prepared to immerse yourself.

My wife and I came away from this museum with a much greater knowledge and appreciation for what the rescue workers and citizens of New York City went through in dealing with the aftermath of those senseless terrorist attacks on Sept.11th. The audio tour was excellent. Listening to the narrative while staring at the picture it pertained to was moving to say the least. I think everyone world wide is well versed in what happened during the first two hours of the attacks on the Trade Center. It is what transpired during the following two years that very few people know much about. After visiting this museum you will have a better understanding of the sacrifice and perserverance the people of this great city displayed to rise up from the rubble of those two collapsed towers. Also for anyone making their first trip to New York and having a hard time comprehending what once stood at the World Trade Center site. This museum will allow you to look at and actually touch numerous artifacts from the towers themselves which makes this a fascinating tour.

After nearly 8 1/2 years since 9/11, it is hard to remember sometimes what it felt like when we watched those events unfold. As time has passed, many people forget the sadness, the hatred, the anger we all felt watching so many innocent people suffer. Our trip to the workshop this past weekend brought back so many of those feelings in all of the ways that it should; the slogan "never forget" may seem cliche to many people, but if you can blow off the tragedy that easily, I ask you to take a look at the piece of Flight 11 in that museum and not tear up. I hope many more visit your exhibit and come to know the hard work of the FDNY, NYPD, and others during those critical first months.

I am the director of a college choir and visited the Ground Zero Museum Workshop with fourteen college students from North Dakota. It was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC and deeply touched everyone. This is a must see for all who either live in or visit NYC.

Everybody should visit

The museum wasn't at all what I expected. It is very small but at the same time very powerful. A collection of photographs, artefacts and very moving stories from the aftermath of 9/11. It doesn't share the horrors of the tragedy itself, more the story of the recovery phase. Prepare to have an enormous lump in your throat. It is very moving and extremely humbling. Everybody should go to this museum when in New York. We should never forget the atrocity that took place on 9/11.

A very touching memorial to victims of 9-11
Tue, Mar 16, 10   1:00 PM BethDarrow Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
All the pictures and memorabilia collected tells the story of what happened on 9-11 and the tragedy of that day. It also tells a little about the people who were killed and the people who helped with the rescue. The pictures tell of the emotions and the compassion the rescuers have in searching for the victimes. The museum is a tribute to the firemen and police of New York City who saw so much but did not give up in the hope of finding a survivor. It is a touching memorial.
