Hudson River Adventures

Awesome weather and a great time. It was comfortable, informative, and friendly. It was a great way to enjoy a class reunion. The changing colors of the trees made the trip even more enjoyable. I am considering a family weekend around this cruise, next spring or fall. It was clearly stated that there is NO smoking for the sake of safety, yet a male crew member stood at the bottom of the stairs and smoked. Since it is truly a question of safety, no one should smoke, especially a crew member.

They were very prompt. The boat was clean and calm. The historic tour was educational and enjoyed by all. The best day we could have had, however, I know you were not responsible for the weather..ha I would recommend it to anyone.

Had a fun cruise on the Hudson, the fall colors were great. refreshment area girl Nicki was great and serves good coffee and Best Hot Dogs!!!

The tour is a must for anyone visiting the Hudson Highlands, or who are interested in military or NYC history. The views from the island are unsurpassed.

A great trip for a person, Family or group.

Unfortunately I picked a day that was extremely wet! I still enjoyed the sail but would like to try a day with better weather. It was a perfect time to see the Fall colors if it had not rained so hard. Length of sail was just about right and the refreshments were fine. I found it a little difficult to find the actual location of the boat. It would help if you mentioned on the tickets that the location is right behind the statue of Christopher Columbus. Will definitely sail again with Pride of the Hudson.

Great views of the Hudson from the boat and the island, moderately strenuous hike around the island, historically interesting, and ticket price contributes to its stabilization and preservation. Too bad it's too dangerous to enter the buildings (hopefully available in future). A printed brochure with story and photos would have been nicer than the passed around photos we received on the guided tour. Afterward, enjoy the quaint town of Beacon and the waterfront restaurants of Newburgh.

We had a wonderful time on the cruise... from the boat ride to the walking tour. And to think I have lived in NYC for over 40 years and never knew this gem was there. Highly recommend the outing.

We came from New York City to Beacon to take a very enjoyable boat ride to Bannerman Castle. We had frequently seen it from the train and were curious about it. The train in Beacon stops right by the dock so it was very easy to get there. The "castle" was actually warehouses for munitions. Who would have thought it???? Quite fascinating and an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. We were able to walk around on the island with knowledgable guides so we saw the buildings from different angles. There is even a residence. The fee for the trip goes to restoring and stabilizing the buildings.

Loved the cruise. The weather was a plus. It was a beautiful day so it made the day more relaxing. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to relax for the day and enjoy the wonders of NY. I recommend checking for the foliage. The leaves on the trees had not yet turned to their vibrant colors. We went on Oct. 14, 2012. Perhaps the following week would be better. Overall the trip was fantastic!!!!

We enjoyed the wonderful scenery and historic references given by our guide on this tour of the Mid/South Hudson. We recommend this trip. We were lucky to have had marvelous weather, which allows you to take advantage of the top deck of the tour boat. The waterfront was having an Octoberfest, which added to the fun. We recommend you get there at the time they allow you on board, about an hour earlier, to "claim" a seat on top as many later arrivals did not have seats. Do bring a cooler of beverages (non-alc) and snacks. ENJOY!

The tour of Bannerman's Isand is a must see for visitors and locals alike. It is so important to protect our local heritage, but even if you want just a great trip with breath-taking scenery, this is it! I have been recommending to all of my friends that they take the time to check out and support this Hudson Valley treasure!!

I have wanted to tour this island for many years and finally got the opportunity to go. We had beautiful weather and learned quite a bit. It's a great place! Wish we could get closer to the ruins, but I'm sure there are safety issues...

After viewing the castle from afar for so long to be able to walk on the island and see all the interesting parts is truly unique and an almost forgotten part of NYS history. Take this tour while you can as while preservation techniques are underway to save what's left of the castle, it may not be long for this world. A must do.
