Great Views, Wonderful Trip

The scenic Hudson views were so beautiful with the fall colors on the trees and the beautiful blue sky as we sailed along the Hudson River. Some in the group went upstairs to take picutres while others of us stayed and visited below. I especially liked that we could bring our own drinks and food on board. For anyone on a special diet, or budget you did not feel any presured to buy anything on board. However there was food and drinks and postcards that you could get if you wanted them.

Great Way to Spend an Autumn Afternoon
Sat, Oct 22, 11   1:00 PM jaqhammond Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Nine of us gathered together on a beautiful autumn afternoon and enjoyed this scenic sail on the Hudson. We brought a box of hot cider, cups, napkins and donuts. We spent most of the time gathered around one of the large tables in the enclosed area chatting and admiring the view, stopping our discussion when the intermittent sightseeing narrative would point out a landmark onshore. Some of our party ventured upstairs to enjoy the fresh air and the view from a different vantage point. It was nice to have the option of enjoying the sail outside on the top deck or inside the large windowed lounge below as not everyone in our party wanted to go upstairs. It was certainly well worth the price. Everyone agreed this cruise is a wonderful way to appreciate the beautiful Hudson and its surrounding vistas. Would definitely do it again. Next time I will bring my binoculars.

We had a wonderful day. Enjoyed the boat ride. Docent on Bannerman Island was well informed and interesting. The steps and trails were easier than expected to negotiate. The weather was perfect and the extra added attractrion was the migrating Monarch butterflies which were in great profusion! It was a very good time of the year for this trip.

We were told about this tour from a relative who was very enthusiastic about it. So my husband and I along with another couple decided to take it. The tour was a pleasant find. The tour on the island was about an hour and a half. It was very informative. If you are interested in the history of the New York area, you will enjoy this tour. Nice way to spend the day.

My husband and I took our son (who is going into the Army in 5 days) and our daughter and fiancee on the cruise. It was such a nice 2 hours to share, looking at some of the most amazing landscape in this country. Absolutely beautiful! The crew was very nice, and I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon with your loved ones.

Cruise on the Hudson River
Thu, Oct 20, 11   2:30 PM Ronaldlenox Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My wife and I took a cruise on the Hudson River on the "Pride of the Hudson" in mid October, 2011. The day was quite windy and the river appeared a bit rough with whitecaps. While we thought the cruise might be a bit unsettling, it turned out to be quite smooth and well run. We both had a most enjoyable time watching the scenery pass by and listening to the narration that described the many sights along the river. The highlight was seeing the USMA at West point from the river. While older, the craft was clean, well crewed and left the dock promptly at the scheduled time. Crew were helpful and available. We would most certainly recommend this cruise to anyone who would enjoy a 2 hour river cruise and sightseeing tour.

Something out of the ordinary!!

A very enjoyable way to capture another view of the Hudson River and the Hudson Valley. We were looking forward to the narration but that barely existed. Fortunately, some of our group were familiar with the valley and could explain and point out the sights. Shame the sound was so poor on the boat.

We live locally and have taken the tour with our grandson and loved it. We had guests from southern N.J. visiting and planned to impress them too. I purchased the tickets in advance and rain or shine we were committed. It did rain, however, we had a full picnic basket (tablecloth and all) and set up downstairs near the bar area. It turned into the perfect rainy day activity. The bartender was engaging and full of wonderful information that held our interest. His presence truly made us feel welcomed, as did the entire staff present. This is an adventure in our own backyards that's not to be missed. We look forward to sharing it again and again.

Great tour guides, disappointing access to site

The tour guides were amazing and enthusiastic. Understandably, the structure is unstable but I was disappointed by the distance kept from the buildings and the very little physical movement around the island. Maybe the description could be more clear that the tour will only include walking on a 1/2 mile path for the photo ops.

Needed improvement
Bannerman Cruise & Walking Tour Departing Beacon

I think the tour was great. However, I think a set of stairs would be very helpful, especially when you decend to the water by the grotto. Several seniors and women had a difficult time going down and up the slippery dirt path. Some flat stones or handrails would be a great improvement!

The "castle", the manor, the island itself, are absolutely enchanting. The history of the island is so very interesting. It's sad to see how much has been lost in its recent history. I am glad that work is being done to stabilize what is left of the buildings and restore the gardens as they once existed. I plan on going again in the Spring to see the gardens in full bloom.
