I WAS A GREAT DAY

i would like to see much more of the arsenal, I understand that it is deemed unsafe. It would be nice if it could be stabilized to see it from the back.

I realize that the buildings are dangerous and in disrepair however I wish we could have gotten closer to the structures. Also wish we could have gone down and spent time by the "breakwater" area. I think tour could have been longer.

We came from New York City to Beacon to take a very enjoyable boat ride to Bannerman Castle. We had frequently seen it from the train and were curious about it. The train in Beacon stops right by the dock so it was very easy to get there. The "castle" was actually warehouses for munitions. Who would have thought it???? Quite fascinating and an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. We were able to walk around on the island with knowledgable guides so we saw the buildings from different angles. There is even a residence. The fee for the trip goes to restoring and stabilizing the buildings.

Highly recommend the tour. Our guide was passionate about the Island, the area, and the history surrounding the Bannerman Family. Great way to see the area, and learn about our past.

Every thing was great, loved the tour and the boat ride, although it was such a beautiful day, I wish the boat had outdoor (above deck) seating!

Guide was informative with the background and a great storyteller. The castle is beautiful and it's great that they're doing this to conserve it!

We had a lovely adventure and were very lucky to have a beautiful day for our trip to the island. My only suggestion would have been to give us a few minutes to take pictures between stops because I felt a little rushed. Other than that, it was a great trip and would recommend it to friends. Our tour guide, Margaret, was very knowledgeable and kind.

For those visiting this area for the first time, this trip on the Hudson River is a great opportunity to view the magnificent Hudson Valley from a unique perspective. But ultimately the tour was quite boring. I have no problem with the fact that the tour uses a recorded narrative. But surely there should be a facility so that someone could interrupt the narrative with commentary of what is actually happening on the river which can change from trip to trip. In addition, the narrative could certainly use some spicing up by a professional writer. For example, did you know about the "Ghost of Bannerman" castle which I looked up myself. There must be some similar stories surrounding West Point and its architecture as well as some of the history of this area dating from the Revolutionary War. On the positive side, the boat was quite clean and the crew were unfailingly polite and friendly.

all was delightful...only one drawback for me....time of sailing not clear...web site said 2:30, ticket said 1PM. tried to phone for clarification but was unable to get through. result? running to catch the boat...not a good start but otherwise a perfect day! thanks!

My husband and I were reading Newsday and there was an article on this castle - so we took the drive and what happened was a wonderful surprise. It was amazing to see this castle - the boat ride there was great and very comfortable. Then when we got to the Island - our tour guide was a woman and she was fantastic, knowledgeable and you could tell she loved what she was doing (I apologize - I dont remember her name). We were so excited to go home and share with friends and family how really great this trip was. Thanks Bob and Theresa Vandermark Coram, Long Island

For anyone who has ever wondered about this castle, as have I for many years, this tour is for you. Makes for a perfect day trip for those of us living in the city. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, giving us not only an account of the castle's unique history, but also history of the surrounding area where the island is situated. Next time I have friends visiting from out of town, I'll definitely be dragging them out of the city and up the river to see and experience this treasure on the Hudson.

The cruise was informative and enjoyable, and the facilities were clean and in good condition. Our only complaint was that the recorded sightseeing information was much too loud and provided more historical details than necessary or desired! Other than that, the captain was very nice and we had a great time.
