Hudson River Adventures

Our tourguide, Wes, was wonderful - gracious, friendly, amazingly informed. It was quite interesting to learn the history of this island especially because for decades (prior to the dawn of the internet) my husband and I would see it and wonder.............what??? Thank you Zerve and thank you Bannerman caretakers.

I have been to this site in 1976. I was there as a treasspass. I have waited a long time to see the site again. It was worth every dime. The guides were great and careing and knew thwere stuff. I have been to a lecture on the Island and knew it's history but our guides made it come alive.

This is great escape from NYC for a day that doesn't involve renting a car, just a quick trip on the Metro North. The tour is interesting, the island and ruins beautiful. A great change of pace!

This was our first trip to the area and we greatly enjoyed the tour. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The boat was very clean and not too crowded. It was very nice to be able to have a cocktail on board while touring the sites along the Hudson! I would highly recommend. We will be back for sure!

Very relaxing ride with very friendly staff. They made sure that our 2 year old was occupied during the ride. I highly recommend this excursion.

Well run tour with great tour guides. The absolutely gorgeous weather certainly helped, but our tour guide, whose name I believe was Wes, was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the island, the Bannerman family, and the challenges in preserving the island and its structures today. Truly an interesting, informative tour - one that I'm sure I'll do again in the future.

The island is special and the buildings are fragile so, if you want to see them standing, don't delay. Make sure you eat your picnic lunch on the boat before the island. Great tour guides - very dedicated.

I recommend to all, a piece of history that should not go unnoticed.

This proved to be a very pleasant morning, with a nice boat ride to an interesting location that I had little knowledge of before the tour. I enjoyed the docent who was very knowledgable about the history of the island and the Bannerman family. I got some good photos as well.

Lived locally forever. Never take advantage of local activities. Out of town company spurred me to find someting to do. Will be taking my whole family in the next week or so and yearly after that. Great great day!

This is a pleasant ride down the Hudson River to the area of West Point, and then the boat turns around and comes back. There is some taped narration that explains some points of interest along the way. This ride is very relaxing, and I would highly recommend it!

While the boat ride to the island was relaxing and pleasant, the tour itself on Bannerman Island was disappointing. If you enjoy standing in one spot for 30 mins at a time listening to a guide repeat all the history you just heard from watching the video on the boat and not allow for exploration, you will love this. Unfortunately, I had regret purchasing the guided tour and desperately wanted to just walk around the island a bit to explore it for myself. We literally stepped 4 feet away from the group as the guide was promoting his book mind you, and were snapped at to return. We were still in clear sight and just wanted to see the castle from a nicer angle and make the most of the time that was left and we were not allowed to. I was very upset that we had paid $32 to stand and listen to a very monotoned guide and not see much of anything only to rush back down to board the boat to return. I wonder what the self guided tour would have been like. Keep in mine the island is very small because most of it is restricte, so you are seeing everything from afar. We had higher expectations and were not impressed. I am person who enjoys history and very much admire castles but this was far from the enjoyment I was seeking. I hope this review is taken seriously because simply put this tour is not for everyone and it may be helpful to some to know this information prior. I certainly wish I had read a review so truthful.

Our tour guide Thom was the co author of the book on Bannerman's Island and its history so we could not have asked for a more knowlegeable person. He was helpful and funny. The boat ride over to the island was also fun and informative as they showed a DVD going to the island and coming back to Beacon about the history and background of the island. The guide on the boat was able to answer all our questions and was also very knowlegeable. The Island tour is 1 and 1/2 hours of walking but nothing difficult and the 72 steps up to the top are made of wood and had handrails. I would recommend it to anyone but not to very young children. There is a lot of steep slopes and could be dangerous. I have mentioned it to a few more friends and told them it is worth their while to go see the beautiful ruins of the castle. Hopefully one day it can be stablized and we can go again and see the inside.

The staffs of cruise are courtesy and care ,Like music were played
