I had the most wonderful 2 weeks in New York, LA & San Francisco & possibly the most enjoyable part was this walking tour of Haight Ashbury.
We were a small group of 3, 2 friends & myself a stranger, helped by our wonderful guide Izu's exuberance & joy we bonded quickly and all enjoyed the tour. The time flies past & the highlights include the beautiful Painted Ladies of The Haight (including The Dead House), street architecture and a bubbling, insightful commentary on the highpoints of 20th Century pop culture from someone who was & continues to be there. Our guide Izu, knows the stories & the people behind them (see who you recognise in the 40th anniversary picture with her).
In short, go, take part, & enjoy. It'll be fun. |

A great insight into the centre of the Summer of Love revolution which subsequently permeated my early childhood over in the UK. This is a real tour for the hippy afficionado rather than the casual or passive tour browser. It's a pity we didn't take account of how cold the local area can be - there is a lot of slow ambling and standing around on this tour so wrap up warm! A tour I would do again if I ever get back to the area. Many thanks to Isu, Eco and Benny! |

Great tour. We were a small group and had a great time listening to the tall tales and true of our guide. Learned lots and were thoroughly entertained at the same time. Have already recommended this tour to friends heading to San Francisco soon. |

Such a fab tour from someone who actually lived at the time. Very enjoyable and entertaining and would recommend it to everyone considering a tour of the Haight Ashbury area who would like to learn a little more about the flower power era. |

Izzu has such a passion for the neighborhood and the 60's and that passion really comes through on her tour. My wife and I had a blast! |

It seemed a bit long for a walking tour (my feet got a bit tired from standing around) but it definitely was 'vintage hippie'. I don't mean just the content of the tour but the way the tour was organized if you get my drift :-) Nicely un-organized and ad-hoc with an interesting end to the tour at the 'psychedelic museum' which turned out to be in someone's dining room full of books, posters, etc. from the Haight-Ashbury hippie era. Would have like to have spent more time there (too bad it is not a real museum where someone walking by can drop in and look).
Our guide ("eezu", I'm not sure on spelling here) was very knowledgeable being someone who lived in the neighborhood during the 'summer of love' and many years afterwards. She knew quite a few of the bands in the neighborhood at the time. At each stop, she had a large of repertoire of stories which tended to make the tour a bit longer than the advertised 2 hours. But I highly recommend it for a wonderful 'trip' (without the drugs) through a unique time period in history. |

Our tour guide, Yzu totally made this experience for us. She was knowledgeable and A LOT of fun! Her knowledge of the area along with her personal stories made for the best tour I've had. I've traveled all over the world and I've had good tours and not so good tours but this one was the most fun. If you have teenagers this is the tour to take them on. THANK YOU YZU FOR A GREAT AFTERNOON!!! Roll on....Chloe and Tess |

Had a great time with Izu leading the tour and explaining the era of the Summer of Love. She obviously knows her stuff because it was very clear that she lived it.
Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in the life, times and music of the 60's embedded in the Haight-Asbury district of this great city. |
