This tour was wonderful! We took the tour on August 7th with Izu . She was energetic, smart, funny and more entertainment that we paid or bargained for! She went above and beyond and made our experience something we will always remember. She created a personal tour along with the site seeing and major historical locations - she was able to tell us many stories about her life and what it was like living as a Hippie and knowing some of the famous folks from the Haight. If I make it back to San Fran I will take it again! Thank you and blessings! |

Tour was way too long. Tour guide had a broken ankle, and had to use a wheel chair to get a round. This made the tour way too long. The tour it's self was okay. she did explain things pretty well, but again the broken ankle really slowed the tour down and got a little boring. She also interjected to many political thoughts of her own. I was there for the history, not her political thoughts. At one point on the tour, I became totally bored at went outside, was bored listening to her, and about her and the politica crap. All in all, wouldn't do it again, unless was a shorter, and a more well thought out tour |

We did this tour on the last day of our San Francisco vacation. It turned out to be the best tour we had all week thanks to our tour guide Izu. She is a cool lady who was actually in Haight Ashbury as a young girl during the 1967 Summer of Love and has lived there ever since. She recalls a lot of personal stories and actually knew many of the musicians that became famous such as members of the Grateful Dead. By the end of the tour when Izu gives you her signature hug you feel as though you are getting hugged by the entire Hippie Generation! |

We did many tours while in CA and by far this was the favorite of myself and my husband and also the least expensive!
The tour guide's knowledge was fantastic!
We brought back many great memories of this tour.

This was an incredible opportunity! Our guide (Stan) was humorous, and throuroughly knew his history! It was amazing to learn all about the Haight Ashbury District in all of its splendor and glory. As S.F. is an easy drive (less than 2 hours) it was a wonderful beginning for our "Date day"! The stop (at Pam's house) was a wonderfully warm touch (and a very welcomed potty stop too!) as we had the opportunity to take a "peek" in a H/A residence. Thank you for opening your home up to us Pam!!! The tour was very modestly priced and well worth the time to do! My question....when are you going to begin doing tours of all the different areas of SF?! It would be a welcomed endeavor! Thank you for a great time and keep on "rockin"! :) |

I saw an article in a local newspaper about the tour. It seemed like it might be fun,
especially as I actually remember the days of "Flower Power" - in a vague sort of way.
I showed the article to a co-worker who suggested we go. We did. The tour was at 2:30 in the afternoon in late July. Sadly, the weather was not on our side. And it got
colder as the tour progressed. Bittingly cold. The tour guide's name, I believe, was
Izu - an admitted hippie from New York, who has lived in the Haight for many years.
She had lots of marvelous tales to tell and certainly knew lots of people along the
trail the tour took. The tour guide was hors de combat, as they used to say. She
had suffered a severe ankle injury several years before and had some trouble getting
around. This probably led to the tour running quite a bit over. And it impacted the
schedules of a couple of people who wound up leaving earlier than they probably
would have liked. Izu showed us where the Grateful Dead lived, Janis Joplin lived, and even where Charles Manson briefly lived oh so long ago before becoming a permanent guest of the State of California (he's not dead yet). Towards the end of the tour we had an opportunity to get warm at the Psychedelic Museum which is in a room of a small hotel/bed & breakfast type place. There were lots of great pictures to see - mostly of people no longer with us (Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Jerry Garcia....) If you're planning to take this tour - or just visit San Francisco - remember to bring some WARM clothing (just in case). And, in case you were wondering, I didn't see anyone wearing flowers in their hair. There were, however, plenty of youngish people on Haight Street who look very much like their forebears 40 years ago, and, yes, they're still panhandling ("small change?") after all these years. |

Having grown up in the 1960's, sheltered in a small Texas town, I knew very little about the musicians and movers of the time. I did know their music and loved it! I am now a university professor in Ohio. I took this great tour with my 19 year old son who knows the 60's music better than anyone I know! We were met by our guide Isu and her dog Benny. They led us on a tour of almost 3 hours that took in two decades in Haight-Ashbury. My son and I were fascinated and the time flew by. We could have listened to Isu for hours. She had facts, photos, inside stories, and anecdotes about the characters, music, and architecture that characterize this unique neighborhood and the era that made it famous. What amazed us even more was the fact that everyone in the neighborhood knew Isu and Benny! This even added more to the experience. Quite frankly, Isu made the experience come alive! Her enthusiasm and genuine love of the era and its people were infectious. Our entire tour group loved the tour. This tour is appropriate for anyone with an interest in 1960's music and about the era. The next time I return to San Francisco, I will take the tour again. There is so much more to learn from this enthusiastic, fantastic woman who lived through the era and actually knew the people who made the history! |

We had a great tour with guide, Izu. She was so fun and had so many stories to tell and places to show us. She answered all of our questions and gave us plenty of time to take picture and take in the sites. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the Haight and what is was like to live there during its heyday. |
