Stan knew the history of the neighborhood, all about the architecture and other interesting tidbits on the summer of love and our rock roll legends ...Janis Joplin, Andy Garcia and others. |

This tour was very enjoyable - well-paced and full of intimate stories of the characters that made the area famous. We appreciated being brought up to the present on conditions in the neighborhood. The guide was good-natured, patient and well-informed. |

For those visiting SF for the first time, and unfamiliar with some of the history behind the Haight, this may be a decent walking tour. It does not actually require much walking, and there are frequent stops to discuss the past 40 years of history. The tour does hit the major stops -- including the Grateful Dead house. The people running the operation were nice, funny and, at times, a little bit corny.
However, it was simply "O.K." The "museum" wasn't really much of one -- rather, it was a single room at an Inn with some 1960s images and other general paraphernalia.
Does the tour provide some flavor? Yes. Does one necessarily need the tour to experience the Haight? Perhaps not. There is available -- online -- information on the various sites -- which one can walk without cost. And, after all, isn't something that is "free" more in the spirit of the Haight?
$20? It's your call. I do believe that one can walk away feeling fulfilled -- especially if not motivated to 'do it yourself,' or looking for individual attention and individualized local flavor. |

It was lots of fun. Enjoyed the walk & the talk. Talk was very informative, with plenty of first hand stories shared. I brought my foreign exchange daughter (age 21) & she like it as well.
Thanks! |

What a wonderful tour. Izu was such an incredible tour guide. She provided us with a wealth of information with such a great personal perspective. If more people were like her the world would be a better place. My children absolutely loved the tour and the Haight. The button says it all; THE HIPPIES WERE RIGHT. Thank you for such a wonderful time. |

This tour was probably my favorite part of my week long trip to San Francisco. Izu was fantastic and added so much energy and fun to the tour. The Haight-Ashbury area is such a unique area and it was great to hear the history behind it from someone who has lived there for awhile. I cannot recommend this tour enough! |

The Flower Power walking tour is absolutely excellent and incredible value. Isu, our guide, was very funny, informative, sweet and so enthusiastic. She kept us all enthralled even on a colder than usual San Francisco day. The tour tells you so much more than you would find in any guide book and it is really enhanced by Isu's personal knowledge and experience of the area. She is easily the best tour guide I have ever come across. The tour is just the right length and an easy walk even for those who aren't very fit. Isu also provides useful recommendations for shopping and eating in the area - we chose to eat at the Red Vic which provides delicious cheap food and very friendly service. Recommended with no reservations at all - a wonderful experience! (but dress warm in case the weather is as chilly as it was when we went ;) ... ) |

Izu was fabulous. I enjoyed her personality and also the personal detail that she was able to add to the tour. I don't think it would have been the same with someone just speaking about the occurances and not actually living them. I stayed on Haight street so it was a good way to find out more about the area I resided in for 7 days. I am so glad I saw the tour on the internet. |
