Loved the tour !!

My husband and I were in San Francisco celebrating my 50th birthday. One of my dreams has always been to visit the Haight-Ashbury district, because I've been so heavily influenced by the "summer of love" and its philosophies. I have to say that our tour guide, Izu, was the best. She made this so much fun! It was great to go on this tour with her, since she actually lived in this area during the 60's and had much insight into what was really going on in that era. She showed us much of the history of the area - of course we saw the homes that the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and other musicians of that time lived in. Izu really made the tour - she was very witty, kind, fun, and knowledable - and the ultimate hippie! Thanks to her, this was the highlight of our trip. We thoughly enjoyed it. We highly recommend it. Thanks so much !! Peace, Sophia from Baltimore

The tour takes you back to the 60's.

The tour guide provided many little or unknown details of the "Summer of Love". There was much information that we would not have known if we had simply walked around the Haight Ashbury district. Our tour guide was very attached to the hippie era, and provided a good insight. Although I am a liberal minded person at heart, it would be good to keep in mind that not everything was great about 1967, and that many artists of that time did not live very long afterwards.

My teenage daughter and I did this tour recently on our trip to Northern California. Man, what a treat! The tour guide was awesome and was quite knowledgable of the area and the local residents of Haight-Ashbury, having lived there for some time. The tour even went over and no one in our little group noticed, as we were so consumed with the stories, etc. that he was giving us. It was a very nice tour and I would highly reccomend it!

When we knew we'd be in the San Francisco area, we looked for the different and unique tours. We had read about the "Summer of Love" area and wanted to experience the area ourselves. Your guide was wonderful, giving alot of local culture along with his expertise of the subject. We would highly recommend this tour to others and have already to anybody that will be in the bay area. Stan's the Man!

This was a terrific tour for any audience: the music fan, the history buff, the neo-hippie, the architecture buff, or the just plain curious. Our tour guide Stan Fluoride was a neighborhood resident of nearly 20 years, greeted frequently along the way by locals. He was knowledgeable, funny and objective about the area and its history, focusing not just on the late 60's but on the periods prior to and since that time. His passion for the topics and the place stretched our two-hour tour to three hours, so I'd say that Stan gave us our money's worth and more.

The guy was knowledgable, but spoke too fast and used too much hard words.(My TOEFL grade is about 100) As a foreigner, I could barely understand him. What really made me unhappy was that I have reminded him of my uncathing, but nothing improved. So if you are not a native speaker, I don't recommend you to take part in this activity.

And I have taken many, particularly in London. Rich in history, culture, detail and not just on the 1960s music scene. Must emphasize that it is also very, very entertaining -- funny. Thanks to the incredible Stannous Flouride. He said he had enough material for five hours. I said his is the first walking tour that I would consider following for five hours. Really, he is a treasure and so is his tour.

Essential If you really want to see the Haight

Stan Flouride was an engaging, funny, detail-oriented tour guide--one who knows the Haight inside and out. In fact, Stan pointed out everything from the '60s residencies of the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane to Charles Manson and the Hell's Angels. He also knows the early history of the Haight, and elucidates the various architectural styles of different periods--the Victorian to the Edwardian to the faux-Victorian. And he presents it in a way that is both accessible and fascinating. The three hour tour felt too short. We wanted it to go on for another three hours! Next time we go to San Francisco, we'll take the tour again. Yes, it's that good.

Summer of Love 09

Growing up in the late 60's and early 70's the counter culture seeped into my life albiet about 5 years to late. having been raised in Boston we also had alot to do with it all as well. I felt like this tour put another piece in my life. The tour guide was extremely informed and friendly. My imagination began to run wild as i thought of those streets in those times! To stand in front of the houses that some of my Influences have walked was just awesome! We stayed after the tour and ate lunch and did some shopping. We plan on coming back again. job well done! Peace and love SJC and RMC
