Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour

Our tour leader was outstanding in all respects and especially entertaining by her very nature. The tour was both educational and humorous.

My husband, myself (we are in our 50's) and our 15 year old daughter and 11 year old son took the tour with Susie(back wards) hard for me to remember except this name as I am Susie also! She was very informative and knowledgeable about the 60's and 70's "Summer of Love" era and what all was going on in the "haight". She was able to show us many historically "cool' places where persons of interest lived and hung out. With her varied experiences and colorful past she was able to interject numerous anecdotal extras that no one would read any where. Susie was enthusiastic,funny,loving to all in the group. The tour we were on had a large group-varied ages, nationalities,and probably desired objectives for the tour. It may be helpful at the beginning of the tour for the tour guide to ask each group if there is any thing they really are wanting to see(we had been very interested in seeing the home of the Jefferson Airplane on Fulton St but did not get to that). It was wonderful to meet Pam. She was truly the embodiment of a hippie despite the era. She tried to impart ways the continuation of the movement might be possible even now in this crazy materialistic time. I enjoyed her opening up her home to us, sharing her past with photos, books, memorabilia. Overall the tour was wonderful and my only comment of constructive nature would be to try to keep a little closer to the time frame and focus on the content (which I say could be more or less agreed on by the group at the beginning of the tour) so there is a more finalized ending with perhaps a message ??such as the death of the hippie movement has not occurred and that we can continue to carry the message to others?? Spoken in the true old "hippie" manner,hey--- Well peace and love to all involved with continuing to live, love and keep the "haight" alive and prospering in the fashion that will promote harmony for all!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with our entertaining and informative guide Izu. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area. She shared so much of the "behind the scenes" aura of the time period . We have seen most of the typical sights of San Francisco on previous trips, so dedided to do this tour for a unique event - that it was! I would strongly recommend this for adults and teens. Too much nostalgia and walking for younger kids. Izu is very interactive with the group and does a great job of giving you a feel and sense of the Haight Ashbury community of both the 60's and today.

She kept our group engaged with her vast knowledge of historic facts about the important and most influential people, places and events of the surrounding neighborhood. We would highly recommend this tour to people of all ages. If you plan to visit San Francisco make this tour a high priority on your list of things to do.

My boyfriend and I have always wanted to see the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco and thought that we should sign up for a tour rather than try to do it on our own. Our tour guide, Izu, provided so much more information than we had expected. She was fabulous, friendly, funny, enthusiastic, passionate, warm and inviting as well as extremely knowledgable about the Haight-Ashbury district and surrounding areas. Talk about get your money's worth from the trip!!! This lady works very hard and has a passion for what she is doing. We were in San Francisco for eight days and had taken several tours and this one was the very best. I would highly recommend that people meet up with her and have her show you the points of interest and beyond. We had a great group of people with us and everyone truly enjoyed themselves. By the end of the tour we were all hugging and laughing. We will always remember the fun we had and the history we learned. Thank you, Izu for making our tour memorable. Izu was a terrific guide. Had a great time. One of the highlights of our trip for sure.

Having been a college student in the 60's, I thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the memories. So much of the Haight is the same as yesteryear so that I could still feel the ambiance as our guide, Izu painted the vivid pictures of the times. She was very knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend this tour!!

Isu was informative , entertaining and cool! We were happy to share this wonderful time in our history with our teenage daughter, who loved it. I have already recommended it to my brother and his family who are coming west i August as a "must do"

Super informative and entertaining tour that also provided us with the vibe/flavor of the San Francisco summer of love experience. Highly recommended!

My wife, daughter and I were on a morning our with Izu. She was absolutely fantastic, she helped make our trip to SF memorable, years from now I'm sure Izu will be the only thing we remember, and also Nureyev's breasts on the wall mural.
