I highly recommend this walking tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip to the bay area. Our tour guide "Izu" was simply wonderful. Her knowledge of the area past and present was very informative. She provided detailed description of the past and discussed the current struggles of the area. You will see many points of interest and relive a little bit of the past only seen in documentaries. If you have the time take this tour, you won't be sorry.

The Flower Power Walking tour was a fun and unique experience while still managing to be informative and historical. The tour guide was spectacular -- engaging, funny and a perfectly genuine fit for a "hippie tour". Our group loved this tour and would recommend it to anyone who wants to not only see Haight Ashbury but truly experience and understand it. Peace :)

Flower Power Tour takes you to another world

Flower Power Haight Ashbury tour July 13 2008 Led by Izy 415-252-7901 What was really great about the Flower Power Haight Asbury tour is that the guide, IZY, was fantastic from the first moment that she greeted us. Her attitude and enthusiasm were contagious. She was not a phony at all. She had a genuine love for the people and environment of Haight Street, having known personally many of the musicians and participants of the scene from the 60s. Her tour created a world that was so fascinating and so real that it felt like being back there in the 60s. When the tour was over I felt like I had to wake up from a wonderful dream and return to the ordinariness of modern day San Francisco. A UNIQUE TIME IN HUMAN HISTORY The Haight Asbury scene lasted for several years in the late 60s was a unique time in human history. It was an extremely rare time when a true feeling of good will and human brotherhood (and sisterhood) existed for a very brief time. Haight street in San Francisco, I learned was worldwide capital of the hippie movement. All the greatest musicians of the day were influenced to some extent by the Haight Ashbury scene, where positive human values and a true feeling of service, expressed by helping one's fellow man (or women). At the end of the tour, she showed us how the ideals of hippies still live on today in various ways. There were also numerous books and pictures of famous people that she showed through out the tour and also at the end when we went inside a house in the area. Read the Hippie dictionary.

Must Do Tour

I loved this tour, our guide was so familiar with the history of the Haight Ashbury neighborhood and the hippie movement that everyone enjoyed themselves. My family really got a kick out of her talks about Jerry Garcia, Janis Joplin and Hells Angels- it gave a great overview of the area, and included history from before the Summer of Love and how the current state of affairs in the "hood" is.

Izu provided a lot of information. Loved the old photographs too. But more than anything I loved the tour for who she is - a real character.

Highlight of our San Francisco Trip

My husband and I took the Flower Power Walking Tour right at the end of our trip to San Francisco and it truly was the icing on an already very groovy cake! Izu was a fabulous guide... Fun, informative, and best of all, authentic (to coin a Digger term). She relayed plenty of colorful facts and interesting personal stories, making the Haight of the Sixties come to life before our eyes. The Hippie Museum was fascinating as well. Thank goodness you all are keeping the dream alive. Power to you! Not only will I recommend the tour to others, I will gladly do it again next time we visit the city.

Recently, my 2 friends and I set out on our Senior Trip after our Graduation from High School. I am a nostalgic individual and I have been fascinated with the hippie counterculture since I can remember. I came across the Haight Tour on the internet and I thought I would give it a try. Although, I was unaware that this tour was going to be one of the main highlights of our trip. I completely recommend this tour for anyone that is interested in history, especially the 60's. Izu, our tour guide, was amazing beyond all reason. She really made the experience a great one. Izu is a unique person with a big heart and I would recommend having her as a guide any day. Her knowledge and natural connection with the love generation makes the tour a great one! This tour really made my senior trip and I am totallly amazed that I was able to view and experience what I did. It has always been a dream of mine to take a time machine and travel back into the sixties, this is the closest I could've gotten :o) Highly HIGHLY recommend. Amazing!

It was a very nice walking tour with a perfect guide, Esu? We come from Denmark, very far from San Francisco and for us it was fantastic to be in these areas, where the hippie movement started. There were many good stories, maybe some of them were lies, but that does'nt matter. It was very entertaining. And we had many good pictures from the houses where Grateful Dead and Country Joe lived many years ago.

Izu our tour guide was a hoot and the highlight of the tour. Her personal perspective of the era coupled with her knowledge and stories made it entertaining and informative (and FUN). Would be nice if you offered private tours...we would have signed up for one if we knew about it.
