We had a great time. Lots of good stories from someone who has been there. And done that! Maybe not for small kids but older yes. Bring the camera. Cool stuff.

Authentic Flower Power tour guide made all the dif

Our tour guide (Izu --) made all the difference to our enjoyment of this tour. She conveyed the spirit of the flower power generation and her enthusiasm was contagious. Haight-Ashbury is now a prettified shadow of its former self, so you really do need a tour guide who was there during the height of the hippie days, to make sense of it and appreciate what is still there. I am a Republican, but this was not always the case, and the tour brought back memories of the 60's. It would be interesting to understand better the political climate of the time--- what is it about San Francisco that attracted hippies? Was the city of SanFrancisco more welcoming than other places? What was the political structure within the hippie community? Less emphasis on the Grateful Dead would be good. I had never heard of them as a teenager and they did not really achieve commercial success until the early 70's. I enjoyed the tour immensely and would recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Wonderful peek into Haight Ashbury

This neighborhood has such a unique flavor and an incredibly rich history. The tour is very informative and provides great insight. You'll learn so much! The information is coupled with historical photos. You'll see homes of Grateful Dead, Charles Manson & Janis Joplin. As you walk you'll enjoy architecture as well as the people. I even cut out a little early to shop at some great boutiques. I would highly recommend this tour, as it takes you into a neighborhood unlike any other in the city.

Thought it was very informitave possible a little too long, not hard just long and hard on the back. Loved our guide! He was very interesting, funny and knowledgable. I would recommend the tour but maybe just a little shorter,

A not to be missed tour for boomers visiting SF

This tour is not to be missed if you are a baby boomer from the 60s or 70s. You will see every part of the Haight Ashbury section of San Francisco including the house where the Grateful Dead lived right across from the Hells Angels. Especially interesting if you are a music fan of the Dead, the Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, etc., or have read Tom Wolfe's "The Kool-Aid Acid Test". Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The only downside was the length of the tour. 2 1/2 plus hours was really too much for most of our group, especially younger people not so knowledgeable about the hippie era. Also, we wanted to eat lunch and shop and after 2 hours and 45 minutes, it made for a long day when we stuck around for those activities after the tour. I recommend lunch at Magnolia and shopping on Haight Street for great Dead (and other rock) t-shirts, vintage posters, etc. Be prepared for street hustlers and seed looking characters in the neighborhood. This tour is not for children under the age of 13 (the age of our youngest who did pretty well but does like the Dead!).

Really enjoyed the history of the area and as it evolved through time. Would highly recommend to others. One comment, could the leader request no smoking? It was very distracting to have 3 people smoking the entire tour. That is my only request since I do avoid smokers due to a personal health problem. Thanks for an enjoyable morning.

The Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour was very interesting and much fun at the same time! Our guide took us with her into the San Francisco of 1967 and showed us the feeling that was so special about that time. It is really worth doing the tour, because it is an unforgettable experience!

A must thing to do, right up there with Alcatraz.

Out of all the top site seeing things to take in around San Francisco, such as Muir woods, Alcatraz, Angel Island, Golden Gate, We found the Height Ashbury tour to be the most fun and interesting. We were proud to introduce our fifteen year old son to this beautiful sub culture of the sixties. Our guide Izzu was the best, we will never forget her. Respectfully, David S. Crook

Enlightening, engaging ...one of the best tours

Izu is a spite fire that just keeps on rolling while providing a look back as she described the historical events in shaping the Haight-Ashbury district and the various groups of people that called it home through out the years. Her insider stories portrayed the sense of community, philosophy, culture, values and difficulties that was experienced by the hippies. A balance of the good, bad and the ugly as well as the forces that impacted the hippies and that era was presented so we walked away with having gained insight and a better understanding while being totally entertained. This is a great tour for adults of all ages, older children and teens. Izu can keep everyone in engaged! All that is missing is a book.

We enjoyed the tour very much. It really made the area come alive, learning about old history plus the famous Summer of Love and after. Just visiting the Haight area without any background wouldn't have been as interesting or meaningful. Our tour guide was very kind and thoughtful and full of energy, sharing from her personal experiences with a sense of humor. If you want to know more about this area, I highly recommend this tour as a starting point!

Summer of Love 40 years later-Thanks Izu

A refreshing nostalgic look at the neighbourhood that spawned dreams, horrors and enlightenment 40-42 years ago. Our guide, Izu typifies the energenic spiritual force necessary to reconstruct the Haight-Ashbury for those of us who read or heard of the beatniks, hippies, diggers, original deadheads in the state that also had Hollywood and Disneyland. My only suggestion is that someone in the new Haight-A$hbury reconstruct the Herb Greene Egyptian-Hieroglyphic wall for photo-ops. Maybe the etchings could replace some of that gaudy Methodist church mural . Oh yeah!

We enjoyed the tour of the Haight-Ashbury. We found it to be very informative and fun. The tour guide Izu was very high energy and pleasant. She made the tour exciting. We would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys walks and has an interest in learning about San Francisco's history and San Francsico in the 60's. Sincerely, Courtney Cranton and Michele Demichelli

This is a fantastic walking tour...highly educational and interesting (even if you knew nothing about the Haight before!). Tour guide lived in the area which made for an even more personalized tour. Would definitely recommend this!
