Access the Soul of the Sixities & the Haite,Peace

ALOT of FUN. Very informative, we learned a lot of new things about our history, even as one of us, was a child of the Sixties.. ISUZ, our tour guide, is extremely passionate about her neighborhood. The tour is full of the neighborhood's/communitie's history, architecture, and the "Summer of Love." Personal accounts of hippies added to the tour's fun factor. Favorite moments include understaning why the clock stays put at 4:20, how the diggers sponsored free meals, and where the Dead, Janus lived and loved. ISUZ is the tour.

A highlight of our trip

My 21 year-old son and I took the morning tour on Feb. 20, and we both thought it was fantastic, and the best value of all of the San Francisco tours we did. Isu was an incredible tour guide - very knowledgable, enthusiastic and so funny! It was just the right mix of hippy history and architecture. I particularly enjoyed being able to go inside one of the houses. We took Isu's advice and had lunch afterwards at a local restaurant (Cha Cha Cha) - it was one of the best meals we had in San Francisco. Not only would I recommend this tour highly, if I ever come back to SF, I'll probably go on the tour again! Gina Cunningham

Highly recommended. I used to think hippies were just a bunch of slackers who did nothing but smoke up and laze around. The tour gave us a great backgrounder of how the whole movement started and the mindset behind it. Great bits of trivia as well.

Fortunately, the walking tour went ahead on a sunny February day. I found the tour very pleasurably and informative. My tour guide was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend the tour to anybody who was going to San Francisco.

Our tour guide, Izu, transported us back to the heydays of Haight-Ashbury. Her knowledge of the area from the late 1800s to early 1900s brought that period back to life. Her willingness to share her rich, personal experiences from the 1970s made us long for the positive energy that was driving that period. This will be an experience I will always remember.

Izu was our guide through the haight-ashbury neighborhood. We learned alot about the wild 60's/70's in the neighborhood. The shopping was awesome and recommendation of lunch was absolutely delicious. We learned of the Grateful Dead, janice Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and others who either did something or lived there. Our guide was friendly and excited as she spoke of the past. i recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco!!!!!!!!!

We were only in San Francisco for a very short weekend and this tour was the bulk of our sightseeing. The tour guide, Isu, was unbelievable! She was extremely knowledgeable, humorous, and very entertaining. I recommend this tour to all, including any SF natives!!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour with our enthusiastic guide, Isu. She really took us back to the Sixties! It was especially fun for our grownup kids in their 20's who learned a little bit about what their parents' generation experienced at that time. Great restaurant recommendations, too.

What an incredible 1st Wedding Anniversary!

All I can say is WOW! My wife & I were both blown away. I booked the Haight Ashbury Walking Tour online as a surprise anniversary gift and she absolutely loved it. Our tour guide Izu, & Pam (the tour creator) were just incredible and two of the kindest people we have ever met! They both have 1st hand experience in the Haight because they LIVED it! This is a very entertaining & informative tour. I recommended it to everyone who enjoys music, history, architecture, art & pop culture. If you’re a classic rock music fan (& who isn't?), I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. If you're interested in the Summer of Love and it’s impact on the world in which we live today, please do yourself a favor and fly Trans-Love Airways (or any transportation available) to San Francisco USA. It will be worth it! Brad & Stephanie

More than just a hippie tour...
Tue, Nov 7, 06   9:30 AM ufl1998 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This is more than just a hippie tour, our guide also described the houses with focus on the Victorian homes. Our guide was very familiar with the area, lives and works in the Haight. He was even recognized by the neighbors. His enthusiasm was appreciated and he was happy to answer questions. My only comment was the length of the tour, it lasted over three hours! We were all a little weary after that much walking!

A walk through our generation's neighborhood...

Isu was awesome...the girl from the 60's still evident in what she knows and how she loves her neighborhood. We are children of that generation too, and there's a little love for the Haight in all of us. We loved the small group, the easy walk, the beautiful day, and the Cuban restaurant - Cha Cha Cha was a great way to end the morning.

A far out trip!

This is a wonderful tour. I went with my 16-year-old stepson. Even though he's fascinated with the 60's I had to literally drag him kicking and screaming to this tour. His cries of "why'd you sign us for this stupid tour with strangers and waste your money" subsided instantly once the tour started. He clung to our guide Izu's every word and entered into a trance state that only ended when the tour did, at which point he called everyone of his friends to tell them about how this really cool lady had showed him the places where the Dead, Janis Joplin, Country Joe, and lots of other 60's luminaries used to hang out. Oh, and by the way, I liked it too. Izu mixes in a good amount of plain old neighborhood history along with the 60's stuff. It's very colorful and never drags. The museum visit near the end is a real treat. Don't miss it!
