Fantastic 40th birthday treat.

Being a numbers man I'm not gifted at writing great works of literature. However I do feel compelled to convey our utter enjoyment of being shown around the Haight Ashbury district by our guide Stan. Unbeknown to Stan there was a certain amount of pressure attached to our Flower Power walk. It was my 40th birthday present from my wife. What a fantastic way it was to usher a new decade in! Stan's knowledge of the Haight and it's history was fascinating and compelling. He simply lived and breathed every square inch of the place. I can't recommend a the Flower power walking tour enough. Thanks Stan. Peace and Love...

I did this tour on Saturday 23rd Sept '06. There was a small group of 5 doing the tour that morning. The guide is a lady called Izu who has lived in the area for about 30 years. She is quite a character. We bumped into several of her friends while doing the trip and almost felt part of the community by the end of the tour. The tour is scheduled to last 2 hours 30 mins and does not involve a lot of walking. Izu will bring you to the main points of interest in the area and explain the history surrounding them. The tour also involves a stop off in the "psychedelic museum", a friend's house with artifact's of the 1960's. Not being American, I knew only a little of the Haight history. This tour gave me a great insight into the area & period - I've even ordered a Grateful Dead CD as a result of it! I strongly recommend this tour.

Guide's knowledge of the area, belief in the topic and general interest were a real treat. Couldn't believe we lucked out and got her!

Fascinating!

Stan was incredibly knowledgeable about this famous section of SF. I loved hearing about the history of the buildings and all the famous folks who lived there in the past. He also included history of the Bay Area and California and events that occurred many years ago. I highly recommend this tour. It lasted three hours instead of two and a half, which we loved--more for our money!

Turn On Tune In Drop Out

I turned on when I arrived in San Francisco on July 13 in 2006 and read your yellow flyer. I tuned in the next day when I booked your tour. And I dropped out when I took part in that fabulous Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour on July 15. Our great guide Izue (?) supplied us with a cornupia of information concerning the Haight-Ashbury's yesterday, today and tomorrow. There was enough to savour for everyone, from the Dead Head to the Victorian Head, and we all became de(a)-dicated Gossip Heads. The tour time just flew by and many of us spent the rest of the day in the Haight-Ashbury, sadly without Izue - but very grateful. And I got a violet tour badge!

We weren't able to complete the tour, because it started 40 minutes late, but the part that we did get to see was entertaining.

Delightful tour and guide

Really enjoyed our tour guide Izu -- an old time hippie that really enthusiastically showed us the various different homes that the musicians lived in. The pictures she provided on the tour and the museum we went to were also fun as was her knowledge of so many happenings. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

Our guide was funny, zany, interesting, and had lots of first hand personal experiences to share with our group. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and learned a lot.

A first time walk through the Haight

This tour gave me the unique first time opportunity to walk through the Haight. I had only driven through parts of it and seen very little of the sights. Izu talked about many interesting things and countless tidbits of information about the artists and where they lived. She explained in detail the "Summer of Love" and the many concerts and performances that were held in the area. Even though I was a bit older than most of the young people in the area at that time, I have developed a stronger appreciation and knowledge of all the things that had occurred then. Thank you for this unusual tour of the Haight.

Stan was a great guide and I really felt like he enjoyed taking the group through the different parts of the neighborhood and sharing the history he was aware of third person and first person. I highly recommend this tour. It's not at all cookie cutter and really provides a person with more perspective on the history of the area and how it plays into the San Francisco story.

The tour was better than I expected as there was a lot of San Franciso history in general. I really enjoyed the horticultural aspect...learning the trees and local vegetation. The visit into the historical museum was an added bonus. I will definitely recommend to friends. Thanks PS will probably go on some of the other tours next time I am in SF.

Have Fun in the Haight

I have just returned from San Francisco where I took the Haight Ashbury Flower Power tour. Our guide Izu was amazing. She was filled with amazing knowledge and zeal for all the history that the Haight area had to offer. Her first hand stories were interesting and we learned so much about the area that a tour book never would have provided. Her detailed stories and tour were really cool. She also pointed us to the best places to eat and shop in the area. I recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in the Summer of Love, or would like to see more of the Haight than the store front hype.

We signed up for the tour with much hope and enthusiasm, We wanted to step back into time for a short period. Much to our joy, the walking tour provided much more than what we expected! Our tour guide was a local celebrity that knew the area like the back of his hand... so much nastalgia...so much history! We recommend to all... thanks Stan for a job well done.

Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

I found out about this tour either on TV or in the newspaper. WHAT FUN! Iszu was just that, as well as very informative. Her passion for the 60s/70s and pride in the neighborhood shined through with psychedelic colors. We learned a lot of the hippie era, the community, architecture, etc... In fact, we are going to the recommended Cha Cha Cha's tomorrow for dinner as we were short on time Sunday (it's football season, ya know). What a great destination to visit and hang out on a weekend afternoon. I highly recommend this tour for all ages. I hope the Flower Power Tour stays around for a while! I would do this tour again. I have a feeling this is not a canned tour and you will learn something new each time.

We had a great time!

The tour was interesting and fun. Izu was both entertaining and knowledgeable. My 15-year-old son who usually dislikes walking tours had a good time and had absolutely no complaints (I think that's a first for him!)
