Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour

Izu is a spite fire that just keeps on rolling while providing a look back as she described the historical events in shaping the Haight-Ashbury district and the various groups of people that called it home through out the years. Her insider stories portrayed the sense of community, philosophy, culture, values and difficulties that was experienced by the hippies. A balance of the good, bad and the ugly as well as the forces that impacted the hippies and that era was presented so we walked away with having gained insight and a better understanding while being totally entertained. This is a great tour for adults of all ages, older children and teens. Izu can keep everyone in engaged! All that is missing is a book.

The tour was very interesting. The tour guide did point out some interesting spots, but was very quick with a political comment. He also needed to have a mic to speak into. With traffic and all at times it was hard to hear him.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable not only about the history of the neighborhood but also about the trees, architecture, and churches as well as the rock and roll history of the haight ashbury district. I also noticed that he was well known by the people who live there in the neighborhood who often stopped to say hello or wave to him. Our guide loved his neighborhood and it was obvious because the tour ran overtime at least 35 minutes! I would highly recommend this tour to everyone and will definately take my visiting family or friends on this wonderful and colorful tour!

We saw all the places we wanted to see on this tour, plus much more. Our tour guide was a nice guy who told interesting stories & answered all questions with ease. Highly recommended!

It was a nice, informative tour. I only wish that we would have had the chance to stop in one or two of the shops along the way. After completing the 2 1/2+ hour tour the thought of walking all the way back to a store (ie Positively Haight) seemed dreadful, especially for some older members of the group. Our tour guide, Iszu, was charming and seemed very knowledgable.

Would strongly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in the influence that "Haight Asbury' had on the culture of the 60s and early 70s. Our tour guide was outstanding. She brought life to how things took place, and the interconnection of the various personalities. Besides that she was a real hoot to spend several hours with her. This was the one of our high lights of our trip to S.F.

What a wonderful tour. Izu was such an incredible tour guide. She provided us with a wealth of information with such a great personal perspective. If more people were like her the world would be a better place. My children absolutely loved the tour and the Haight. The button says it all; THE HIPPIES WERE RIGHT. Izu, you are outstanding! Don't ever put the suits back on.... - your real life experiences and stories add something to this tour that make it one-of-a-kind. I really enjoyed this walk through history of the Haight Ashbury district. The most memorable experience of San Francisco I will take back with me to Canada. Love and Peace.

Wasn't sure what to expect but without this tour Haight Ashbury would have been just another neighborhood in San Francisco. IZU brought it to life back in the 60's and 70's. Would highly recommend it! My husband an i laughed a lot and it did remind us of great music and memories.

This was a great walking tour. Izu is a trip and a half all by herself. She is knowledgeable and calls it like she sees it. One of the best tour guides I have ever had. The Haight was never about being politically correct. It was about expressing yourself. She certainly does and it adds a great touch to the whole tour. Kept us all laughing while showing us around. It will run long. So be prepared to walk a lot and spend extra time. DSM

My boyfriend and I really liked this tour, and eventhough he is not really into hippie stuff, he did get a lot out of it. If you walked around Haight-Ashbury on your own, you wouldn't come nearly close enough to finding all the cool historical details that were pointed out to us. Our guide Izu was great. She really knew the area and made the tour as personalized as possible, pointing out things she experienced in the 60s and 70s. She also had run-ins with Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin, and had mutual friends with the Dead and the Hells Angels, so stories about these guys abound. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys history or architecture, or who is just looking for a unique, colorful tour in the area.

Minus the rain, the tour was very interesting and full of fun facts and tidbits. The tour guide was a fireball of energy and her experiences in the neighborhood made it even more fun and exciting.
