We loved our hippie tour with Izu. She was great fun, and we along with our adult daughters thought it was great to be guided by someone who actually lived throught the times and events. Great job.

Best tour in the City!

An authentic "trip" into the San Fran of the late 60's. This is the kind of raw, real history they DON'T teach you in school (but should). By far the coolest, most unstuffy tour I've ever been on - and actually one of the most informative. And a MUST for any Dead Head, Joplin or Hendrix fan.

REVIEW OF HAIGHT ASHBURY FLOWER POWER WALKING TOUR
Tue, Aug 7, 07   9:30 AM DAVIDBRYSON Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My wife and I participated in the 9:30 tour onTuesday 7th August. We enjoyed it thoroughly. All the contents listed on the yellow advert card were covered/visited, the guide was very knowledgeable and courteous and he gave very good value for money. We liked the warm way he greeted and was greeted by the locals, further underpinning the credibility of his local knowledge. I have no criticisms of the tour. In terms of enhancing it further I have only two suggestions for the "summer of love" section: California has a proud history of developing the folk rock music culture which was such an important ingredient of the mid 1960's period. While some of the major influences such as the Byrds, Mamas and Papas and Buffalo Springfield were not directly linked to San Francisco, they emerged from California and it might be useful to mention them as part of background information. The second point is that some songs 60's songs paid homage and and were strongly linked to the flowerpower era. Several of these have San Francisco in their title. Examples include "San Francisco" by Scott Mackenzie, "San Franciscan Nights" by Eric Burden and the Animals, "Lets go to San Francisco" by the Flowerpot Men. These again may merit a mention. I wish the Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour continued success in the future.

The Haight Ashbury Tour was great fun. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the neighborhood and its history. For those of you that enjoy walking tours, you know that many can be accomplished with a guide book. We definately benefited and learned more from having a guide. (She was absolutely fabulous!) The people in our group ranged in age and were great company . I would highly recommend it.

If you enter the tour from the perspective that you a part of a bit of role playing, it is very enjoyable. Certainly much better than walking the neighborhood alone

We did this tour on the last day of our San Francisco vacation. It turned out to be the best tour we had all week thanks to our tour guide Izu. She is a cool lady who was actually in Haight Ashbury as a young girl during the 1967 Summer of Love and has lived there ever since. She recalls a lot of personal stories and actually knew many of the musicians that became famous such as members of the Grateful Dead. By the end of the tour when Izu gives you her signature hug you feel as though you are getting hugged by the entire Hippie Generation!

The best tour in town

My wife and I came to San Francisco on our honeymoon for about a week and a half. In that time, we packed in every activity possible. I rented a Harley and rode through the wine country of Napa and Sonoma, and also down to Monterey and Carmel. We toured Alcatraz, went on a boat tour under the Golden Gate Bridge, and explored many of the area's neighborhoods and parks and other various attractions. We loved every minute of our vacation, but the true highlight of the trip was the Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour. Whether you're a fan of the music scene and counterculture movement that made this area famous in the 60s, interested in the beautiful architecture that San Francisco is noted for, or are just looking for a fun way to spend a couple of hours in one of the city's most interesting and eclectic neighborhoods, this tour should be an absolute must on your itinerary. Our tour guide, Izu, was not only extremely knowledgeable, but also a true entertainer. Her personality and enthusiasm in describing the sights and stops on the walk are simply not something you can read in a book, and make for a truly enjoyable and fascinating experience. Izu's not your typical hired-gun tour guide who's been given a crash course in the subject. She's a real long-time resident of the neighborhood and knows the real stories behind the things that you may have read, heard, or thought about this historic area. I guarantee that you will not get this kind of first-hand knowledge or passion from any other guide in the city. So if you're in the area, please do not miss this rare opportunity at a peek behind the scenes of one the greatest neighborhoods in one of the greatest cities in the USA. It's an amazing bargain that you'll absolutely love. Thanks again Izu!! Damian & Kristi Vaccaro Pittsburgh, PA

This tour was absolutely awesome! Our tour guide, Izu, was so much fun! She was very interesting and she had so many stories and lots of historical info. that she shared with us. I was very excited for this tour, and it was above all of my hopes- it was so much fun and I had a great time. I highly recommend it, and if I have the opportunity to return to San Francisco again, I would love to do the tour again.

Waste of time - tour guide

We had a local woman guide us through Haight-Ashbury. The group found her quite funny (laughing at her rather than with her), but she found it hard to string a sentence together after too many years of hard partying. We stood at the meeting point for 45 minutes at the beginning of the tour (it took her this long to collect the tickets, as she kept forgetting what she was doing), and was a couple of hours before we even reached Haight-Ashbury streets, which is only a few blocks from the starting point. Tour was a complete waste of time and money, we learnt very little about the area and spent most of the time reminding the tour guide what she was talking about.

broken ankle tour guide??
Sat, Aug 7, 10   9:30 AM dagoat31 Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Tour was way too long. Tour guide had a broken ankle, and had to use a wheel chair to get a round. This made the tour way too long. The tour it's self was okay. she did explain things pretty well, but again the broken ankle really slowed the tour down and got a little boring. She also interjected to many political thoughts of her own. I was there for the history, not her political thoughts. At one point on the tour, I became totally bored at went outside, was bored listening to her, and about her and the politica crap. All in all, wouldn't do it again, unless was a shorter, and a more well thought out tour

A definite must do on your San Francisco trip!

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Isu, the tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining. It brought back lots of memories about that special time in our lives and the Summer of Love back in the late 60's. She told tale after tale about the happenings in "the Haight", about Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix, and lots about the history of the area from the 1800's. She has an unbelievable memory and is a superb story teller. I would recommend this tour to everyone. We're still talking about it!
