| To me it seemed too long. I could have managed without the talk on the species of trees. The meeting place was in a suspect area as McDonalds car park was full of homeless people and one 'crazed' one threw his pancakes and his carton of maple syrup went all over me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actual 'flower power' details were informative and I enjoyed it. Loved browsing the boutiques afterwards. | ||||||

| The guide was really cool and divulged an ocean worth of info! There's no doubt that my wife and I couldn't have done the same tour on our own. All the nuances on this section of town were given to us in an informed manner. Plus the guide was so authentic and cool! Well worth it! | ||||||

| For those visiting SF for the first time, and unfamiliar with some of the history behind the Haight, this may be a decent walking tour. It does not actually require much walking, and there are frequent stops to discuss the past 40 years of history. The tour does hit the major stops -- including the Grateful Dead house. The people running the operation were nice, funny and, at times, a little bit corny. However, it was simply "O.K." The "museum" wasn't really much of one -- rather, it was a single room at an Inn with some 1960s images and other general paraphernalia. Does the tour provide some flavor? Yes. Does one necessarily need the tour to experience the Haight? Perhaps not. There is available -- online -- information on the various sites -- which one can walk without cost. And, after all, isn't something that is "free" more in the spirit of the Haight? $20? It's your call. I do believe that one can walk away feeling fulfilled -- especially if not motivated to 'do it yourself,' or looking for individual attention and individualized local flavor. | ||||||

| I would recommend this tour for people who want to have an idea of what was special about the Haight Ahsbury area in the 60s and the history and renaissance of that neighborhood that remains otherwise quite rundown and would not be very interesting otherwise. Your guide will ahve for you many anecdotes and knows his botanics (no not only that kind- lol -the neighborhood actually has a huge variety of trees he will eb happy to tell you about), so whether you are a fan of the counter culture movement, architecture, Janis, Jimi or the Grateful Dead or just want a 3+ hour walk (yes you do need to like to walk... A LOT!) you should enjoy this tour. Fun and informative. | ||||||

| My husband and I brought our 2 teenagers on the tour. We feel that our guide, Stan, gave us more information about the neighborhood than we could have gotten anywhere else. It was a good time for each of us. Stan was witty and seemed to know everyone in the neighborhood, past and present. He was very friendly, after the tour was over he offered us tips on how to make other parts of our vacation better. The portion of the tour at the "psychedelic museum" was slightly disappointing, it needed either more time (we didn't get the 'run through' of the black and white photos on the wall that the owner, Pam, said she should do and then got distracted) or less talk about her family and how they bought the house and run the inn. Overall it was definitely worth the time and money to take the tour. | ||||||

| Our tour guide was Izu, who has lived in the Haight-Ashbury since 1971 and also visited in 1967 with her parents as a child. The things she told us could only come from 'the real deal" and everyone was very entertained and came away wanting more, even though Izu didn't finish until we had covered every question. I can honestly say that this was my best part of my trip to San Francisco and I feel more educated about the area and more inclined to walk the area on my own. People like Izu are hard to find because they tell you the truth and the little-known facts. We finished the tour by going inside a house which is actually in the famous Grateful Dead photo with them at the street sign for Haight-Ashbury. Give yourself a more than few hours for this tour but you'll come away thinking about it for years - And if you're a huge fan of the bands, actors and music of the area, it will be glued to your heart forever. Thanks, Izu! - Tim & Malaida | ||||||

| My husband and I highly recommend the tour with Izu. Izu knew the area and the history that made it famous. She was a tiny bundly of energy and enthusiam. Her colleague Pam presented a glimpse into her home as well as her political leanings. I was a little hesitant when I booked the tour but it was worth it, no matter what your age. It is a window into the 60's and 70's. | ||||||

| Probably the best way to experience the area is with people that were there during the 60's and 70's. Izu (our guide) and Pam (our host) made the experience. | ||||||

| dan mentioned something about "we would have time to ask ?s later"...yet it seemed appropriate to be able to ask ?s as we went along, as we all could benefit from the ?s of others. other than that, the tour was grand. seeing the inside of one of the homes was great. | ||||||

| Very informative and the guide was good. It was clear that he enjoyed his job. Too many points of interest were pointed out and therefore, the tour became longer than anticipated. | ||||||

| The original tour leader didn't show up but when we called to report this, a replacement tour guide was called. He came around 15 minutes later and he was excellent as he still lives in Haight-Ashbury. His name was Bruce and, if possibe, request his services. I told Bruce that he took a bad situation (nobody showing up) and turned it into an excelent experience. I would strongly recommend this tour! | ||||||

| Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. He had an enormous amount of information and shared it with the group in a way that always made it interesting. Our Guide was very considerate of everyone on the tour and of the people we passed on the street. Everyone seemed to know him. Not only was the information great, the sights, buildings, stores, and houses etc. were fabulous in and of themselves. | ||||||

| When we knew we'd be in the San Francisco area, we looked for the different and unique tours. We had read about the "Summer of Love" area and wanted to experience the area ourselves. Your guide was wonderful, giving alot of local culture along with his expertise of the subject. We would highly recommend this tour to others and have already to anybody that will be in the bay area.
