The guide was really cool and divulged an ocean worth of info! There's no doubt that my wife and I couldn't have done the same tour on our own. All the nuances on this section of town were given to us in an informed manner. Plus the guide was so authentic and cool! Well worth it!

This tour was very enjoyable - well-paced and full of intimate stories of the characters that made the area famous. We appreciated being brought up to the present on conditions in the neighborhood. The guide was good-natured, patient and well-informed.

The guide was very knowledgeable and the tour seemed all inclusive of the past and present of the Haight Ashbury area. Pictures were diplayed of the areas past and time was allowed for the taking of pictures of the most historic areas. Being a person who grew up in this era I found the tour of great interest. Safe and enjoyable.

I had a great time on this tour. It was a good mix between hippie history as well as art and architecture. Izu has a contagious personality and really made the tour what it was. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes to walk and learn.

I would recommend this tour for people who want to have an idea of what was special about the Haight Ahsbury area in the 60s and the history and renaissance of that neighborhood that remains otherwise quite rundown and would not be very interesting otherwise. Your guide will ahve for you many anecdotes and knows his botanics (no not only that kind- lol -the neighborhood actually has a huge variety of trees he will eb happy to tell you about), so whether you are a fan of the counter culture movement, architecture, Janis, Jimi or the Grateful Dead or just want a 3+ hour walk (yes you do need to like to walk... A LOT!) you should enjoy this tour. Fun and informative.

August trip

Somewhat disapointed in the tour. The person giving the tour was 1/2 hour late and this put the tour later than expected. It was hard to hear some of the history because of the traffic noise and it was an extremely windy day so the noise factor was an issue. it was interesting and I did enjoy seeing the things I've heard about.

Iszu, the tour guide, was incredible! The tour was well-rounded, providing information on history of the area back to the 1800s, archetecture, the hippy movement, etc. She even brought visual aides ... laminated pictures from the various times to show what the area actually looked like as the day went on. I would highly recommend this tour. I brought my 18 year old sister, a hippy lover, who also thought the day was fabulous. I would say this tour applies to anyone 15 and above.

Fortunately, the walking tour went ahead on a sunny February day. I found the tour very pleasurably and informative. My tour guide was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend the tour to anybody who was going to San Francisco.

Probably the best way to experience the area is with people that were there during the 60's and 70's. Izu (our guide) and Pam (our host) made the experience.

The tour guide is a very interesting/funny man (artist) and has a lot to tell about the Haight Ashbury neighborhood and history of SF. The tour "could" last 5 hour because he has so many stories to tell. You can ask questions at any time; I'm sure you will get a detailed answer. Try it!

Great Albeit a Little Long

Our tour guide was funny and possessed an incredible knowledge of just about everything related to the tour. My only suggestion would be to shorten the tour by about twenty or thirty minutes. Highly recommended. Although my friends were visitors, I am a local of 2.5 years and I learned a great deal on the tour.

I enjoyed the tour but it went over by almost an hour. I thought less information on the arcitecture and more on the 60's and the summer of love would have been better. I did learn more about the city, the Haight and I will come back just to hang out and shop in that area.
