Activity Description
Departing from the Race Village of the Volvo Ocean Race at Fan Pier, join a National Park Service ranger for a one-hour narrated harbor cruise of the Boston Harbor Islands national park area. Boston, with its rich Irish heritage, is the only North American port in this exciting race around the world, and is the launching point for what is predicted to be the fasted leg of the race, heading to Galway, Ireland.
Explore the hidden secrets of the harbor islands, one of Boston’s historical hideaways for both famous and infamous activities. During this unforgettable experience, your dedicated park ranger will weave together the connections between Boston and Ireland in a modern day context, marrying history with present day lore. Your trip will include: - A cruise past the same islands Boston’s Irish immigrants saw on arrival: Rainsford Island, Deer Island, and Nixes Mate, among others
- A comfortable 100-person capacity boat with comfortable climate controlled seating, and expansive external decks for prime harbor views
- A state-of-the-art sound system to broadcast your ranger’s narration throughout the boat
Take a break from the crowds at the Volvo Ocean Race while learning more about Boston and Ireland’s connection through people and places. Your tour will return you directly back to the Race Village.
