Birders, bring your binoculars, and take part in a winter discovery cruise on Boston Harbor! Boston Harbor Islands national park rangers and Wayne Petersen Mass Audubon’s director of Important Bird Area will be on hand to give their expert advice on cold weather birds such as sea ducks, mergansers, guillemots, cormorants, gulls, purple sandpipers and more.
There will be plenty to see even for non-birding cruise-goers, including:

- Three harbor lighthouses, including Boston Light, the first and oldest lighthouse station in America, Graves Light, and Long Island Head Light
- Fort Warren, a National Historic Site that was once home to famous Civil War prisoners like Confederate Vice President Alexander Stevens

The Boston Harbor Islands national park area is considered an Important Bird Area (IBA), which is a site providing essential habitat to one or more species of breeding, wintering and/or migrating birds.
