Val, the Park Ranger, was informative and enthusiastic about the Harbor Islands. It was enjoyable to arrive at Little Brewster Island and see the Innkeeper dressed in Colonial clothes. I appreciated the history that she shared. Inside the Lighthouse Museum, we appreciated seeing the Small size of the light and realizing that it shown for a distance of 27 miles. The goldenrod garden outside and the butterflies were beautiful. The boat ride was cooling on a very lovely and peaceful day.
Rating: 5 Great trip, even if the weather is iffy.

Cool foggy day, and a rough day at sea, but the ranger, Lighthouse Keeper and "Friends of the Harbor Islands" made it worthwhile. A totally different perspective on Boston Harbor and great history at Boston Light. Who knew!

The boat ride and the crew were well worth the money. One of the best tours I have been on....and would recommend to all interested in light houses and local Boston history. Thoroughly enjoyed the time spent, which I cannot say about many tours.

Our trip through the Boston Harbor Islands to visit Boston Light was everything we had hoped for. The picture-perfect weather (clear, blue skies, dry temps in the high 70s, and a gentle breeze) made for a great afternoon at sea. Our tour guides were informative, entertaining, and eager to answer any questions we had. Most of them were volunteers with the Coast Guard Auxilliary. Everything about our trip was well-organized and carefully explained, which was certainly to the benefit of the multitude of senior citizen passengers. Once on the island we were able to visit with guides who were set up at various "stations" to answer questions in-depth about the lighthouse, coastal tidepools, shipwrecks, and other structrues on Little Brewster Island such as the fog horns, keeper's house, and electrical/generator house. Adding to our beautiful boat ride was the opportunity to see aquatic birds, other lighthouses, and jets looming large as they cast shadows over us on their runway approach at Logan. The only unfortunate part was not being able to climb Boston Light, but this was not a surprise to us by any means. Public access has been restricted since the first-order Fresnel lens had to be refurbished in the lantern room earlier this year. A warrenty on this expenisve item prevents tour guides from bringing visitors up to the top of the lighthouse. Perhaps this decision will be reconsidered in the future to enable other lighthouse lovers to enjoy a "view from the top."
Rating: 5 History, fun facts, and magnificent views!

This time I went alone to satisfy my personal interest in lighthouses. I will return and bring others on future visits. The guides were extremely helpful, friendly, and kind. Everyone involved gave 110% to the tour visitors. While it was a momentary disappointment to learn of the moratorium on climbing up into the lantern room, there was so much to see and learn that it did not spoil the trip. Making that climb is another reason to return next year. This "three hour tour" is highly recommended - you'll learn a lot and enjoy the ride.

This trip is highly recommended for individuals who live in the area as well as for visitors. I am local and had a friend in from out of state where we attended over labor day weekend. This was a very informative tour with knowledgeable and friendly tour guides. It was so worth it!

Nice boat ride to and from the island in a late summer afternoon. The lighthouse itself was very interesting, and the view of the water was excellent. The tour was guided professionally, and the total length of the trip was about right for young children.

This was a great trip. I bought the tickets for my father-in-law who couldn't make it so I went with my 5 year old and 3 month old daughter. We all had a great time. The scenery was beautiful and the guides were wonderful. The island was interesting and my 5 year old had a blast. We ordered lunch through the tour boat ahead of time which meant no packing anything. Well worth it and would do it again. My father-in-law missed out.
