For tourists like me who would like to see another side of Boston, take this tour. You will not only get to an island, you also get to meet several locals who are taking or helping the tour.
I would also recommend this to locals who haven't been here and who have growing kids. Not only will they have fun at the island with the help of the "Friends," they will learn how to love Boston more.
The "Friends" who coordinate and supervise the trip are very kind and helpful. You will enjoy the trip and help the "Friends" in their preservation efforts as well. Proceeds earned from the trip help them in their conservation efforts and help ensure that locals and tourists continue to enjoy the Boston Harbor Islands. |

This was a fun tour. Although it was very windy and the water was choppy. The people driving the boat had a diffiuclt time getting it to dock on the island. We were able to walk aroud on the island and check things out. If you like lighthouses then this is the cruise for you. |

I primarily went on this trip because my mom was visiting & she loves lighthouses. I was surprised that it was such a great trip. Although I wasn't able to climb the tower, easily understandable with the restoration, the staff on the island made up with their knowledge and enthusiasm for the lighthouse.
Next time I have more family coming into town, I will definitely recommend the tour!
The only thing I would suggest is checking the wireless microphone on the boat. It was hard to listen to at times. |

The weather helped make this an excellant daytrip. It makes me want to visit and spend more time on some of the other islands. The lighthouse staff and coast guard volenteers are capable and enthusiastic. It would have gotten five stars with a trip up to the top for the view and a look at the lens. |

This was a great way to spend a sunny, summer weekend day. It was fun to hear the history of the Harbor Islands, which we previously knew little about. It was nice to get off the boat for a while at Boston Light, and we got some spectacular pictures. We will definitely be back next year when we can climb up to the top! The Coast Guard Auxillary staff and the NPS guides were all great to talk with. A great day all around. |

The Park Rangers were outstanding...especially Valerie Wilcox. She loves her job! The auxillary Coast Guards were also great. |

Our family thoroghly enjoyed our day on the tour. All of the guides were informative and friendly and my children actually enjoyed an activity that we picked. Being a local resident I learned quite a bit about the history of the area that is right in my backyard. I would highly recommend this activity to locals and tourists, plus if the weather is perfect (as was our luck) there is no better place to spend the day but out on the ocean. |

Although no one can pick the weather for the day (ours was perfect), most tours are made or not by the guides. The ranger and the Coast Guard volunteers as well as the lighthouse keeper relayed a wealth of information and kept things interesting. They made themselves approachable for additional questions and knowledgable about the harbor and about history. My friend and I have always decided to participate in some kind of special activity rather than exchange birthday presents (who needs more things?). We'd both recommend the tour of the Harbor Islands and plan to take another trip to one of the other islands for a day to hike and picnic. |
