the weather helped to make it excellent. visibilty in the harbor was great. there was plenty of room on the boat. the tour guides on the boat and on little brewster island were friendly, knowledgeable and answered questions. the only complaint was that we couldn't go to the top of the lighthouse.

We had very good weather condition. It was amazing. We were sad a bit not to climb to the top of the lighthouse because of the restoration, but it was amazing. Thanks for the crew for the moments.

We really enjoyed our trip out to the harbor islands. All the tour guides were fabulous- friendly, informed, and entertaining! We learned so much of the Boston harbor history thanks to all of them. What a beautiful day- the trip was a total of 3 hours- it was relaxing, and never felt too long.I would certainly recommend this trip to everyone.

Don't go when it's raining!

I was dismayed when I saw the boat pull up - I thought it would be larger and more comfortable. The group was largely senior citizens, and it was raining, so everyone wanted to be indoors - and all the seniors needed chairs, so it was very crowded. I gave up on trying to see. The tour guide had a very monotonous voice (he was not the least bit engaging), and it was hard to understand him inside. The sound was better outside, but you got wet!! The island itself was lovely, but walking around already cold & damp was no fun. I was glad when it was over.

The most impressive thing to me was the availability of information. The park service personnel and volunteers were outstanding in providing information and answering questions.

We live in Boston, have a power boat in a nearby marina and are nature and nautical enthusiasts. This tour gave us an opportunity to learn about this island and its lighthouse. It was very well done. Val was an outstanding guide and we all enjoyed her narration on the islands on the boat ride out. She could answer any question. The lighthouse did not disappoint and climbing to the top to see the lens and the view was wonderful. We had enough time on the island to tour the lighthouse, walk the grounds, ask questions and peacefully envision what it must have been like to live here so many years ago. This tour is a jewel as are the Boston Harbor Islands.

Boston Harbor via the Boston Light Tour

With lovely weather the 45 minute boat ride to the Boston Light gives one an excellent view of various islands in the habor. The on board ranger telling the history and current use of various islands was very informative. The visit to Little Brewster Island and the Light itself was also excellent. Although only one in our party of 4 wanted to climb the light the other three did not lack interesting things to do. There are beutiful views from the island and good stories from the various volunteers and rangers. The lighthouse keeper was delightful, as was her husband.

It was great. Park Ranger "Jessica Renahen" was the best. Very well informed of the Boston Harbour and area. Lighthouse crew exceptional. Needed more time at lighthouse. Departure area needs to be better marked for customers. We did have a problem finding boat.

Boston Light

This is an excellent way to see Boston Harbor, the harbor islands and the open sea. The lighthouse is majestic, set on it's rocky, windswept perch, well out from land. The historic nature of the site was introduced beautifully by the National Park Ranger who accompianied our group. The Coast Guard men and women who keep the light were cheerful and informative. Very impressive place to be. This was altogether a great morning trip.

Fun and Informative

Our trip out to the Boston Light was great and we were provided with a lot of information on the Harbor as we traveled out to the island. The Island itself and the opportunity to climb to the top of the Lighthouse was the best. Of course, the weather for October was fantastic, so I'm sure that added to our enjoyment. Everyone was polite and ammusing. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in history and a desire to see nature (not to mention Boston from the water!)

I had a wonderful time talking with Val, the Park Ranger, and Joe and Irene, volunteers from the Auxillary Coast Guard and the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands, as well as Sally the lighthouse keeper. Full of surprises and enlightening information at every turn. Definitely take advantage of this great outing!

This is a great way to see the harbor in Boston, and is very enlightening from a historical perspective. The guides are all so friendly and helpful. They enjoy sharing the stories about this important landmark! This was the first lighthouse built in America,so it felt very special just being there. It is just a fun experience to take the ferry ride out to the light. There are box lunches available for purchase at the dock, or you can bring your own food. The tour is about 3 hours including the boat ride to and from the lighthouse. We are mariners, so this was especially meaningful to us. We loved it! Boston is a great place to visit!!
