Activity Description
Come aboard the Carolina Belle for a fun filled evening with the Lowcountry's best blues and BBQ. This sunset cruise is catered by Charleston's best BBQ and Ribs restaurant, Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ. You'll also enjoy the blues musical stylings of Juke Joint Johnny and his rockin' band.
Juke Joint Johnny (aka John Soden Winkler), blues harp par excellence, originally from Upstate NY, blew into Charleston, SC on the skirts of Hurricane Hugo in 1989. JJJ joined Slim's band Blue Light Special and stayed on with them from 1990-1992. Since that time, he has performed throughout the Southeast with other artists such as Slidin' Scott Perry, Bradford Station, and most recently Drew Baldwin and Silky Sam Owens.
While aboard the Carolina Belle listening to the blues, you'll get close-up sunset views of the Holy City's most famous and charming sights, including:
- Fort Sumter: One of Charleston's most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired
- Confederate and Union army Forts Moultrie and Johnson
- USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady”
- St. Michael’s Episcopal Church: A surviver of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target
- Stately homes on the Battery: Symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance
- the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge: A state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world
Party to the blues the way the locals do... with Juke Joint Johnny and Home Team BBQ and the Bridge at 105.5!
