A nice cruise

Cruise: The cruise was very nice and the captain was entertaining. The history lesson was quite informative and we learned a couple of things we didn't know. Plantation: The plantation tour was enlightening also. A side note, because the plantation cut off tours at 5:00 PM, it would have been nice to know what kind of time frame we we working with. We didn't get to do a couple of things (like the carriage tour) that we would have enjoyed. But all of the folks at the plantation were very nice.

Plantation tour was great/Harbor tour was CANCELED

We enjoyed visiting Boone Plantation, seeing the sites and learning the History. We heard about the Gullah lifestyle, took a wonderful, narrated, motorized tour around the Plantation, walked through the House and garden. It was an afternoon we will not soon forget. The Harbor Tour promised to be as spectacular...We were counting on it giving us an historic perspective on the city of Charleston, and transporting us to Ft. Sumter. The tour was cancelled, so we hopped aboard a water taxi and went to see the USS Yorktown instead. I fell like we missed out on a huge chunk of the Charleston experience because neither the water taxi, nor the Charleston Harbor Night Cruise gave Historical information or a visual tour of the entire area. My advice would be to schedule your tour early, if it is cancelled you will still have time to take a later trip.

Great, affordable combo tour

What a great combination tour this was !! Affordable, historic, entertaining and very good plantation and harbour tour operators / narrators. Boone Hall Plantation: We got there at 2pm and left at 5:30pm. In that time frame we took the tram ride (which had Michael as the guide and he was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the historical aspects of Boone Hall, insightful with his own interpretations as well as comical, injecting some humor now and again), toured the mansion with another female guide, who's name slips my mind, walked the grounds including the slaves quarters as well as listed to Mr. Murray's 1 man show. My wife and kids, 16 and 14, enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. Harbor Tour: Our 11:30am tour began on time and lasted 1.5 hours. It was a nice presentation and very scenic. We were taken to the mouth of the harbor a few hundred feet from Fort Sumter, (check out the FREE Fort Sumter Museum, about 1 football field away from the Harbor Tour ticket office) the Destroyers and USS Yorktown air craft carrier, up to and under the Charleston Harbor Bridge and saw 4 dolphins along the way.

It would be very helpful to let people pick up tickets at either the plantation or the harbor.

The harbor tour was informative, a lot of history. My kids liked the plantation tour. They enjoyed watching the planting of the crops at the plantation.

The combination package looked like an attractive way to get a good taste of the Charleston area. We took the harbour tour portion first, and I was some what disappointed. Not sure what I expected, but since the fort seemed to be the biggest element of the tour, I would have like to have sailed around it and heard more details of the fort and the battle. The plantation tour was fantastic. The house tour was very informative even if we were limited to the first floor (the 2nd are actual living quarters for the residents of the home). Everything offered should be experienced, the show, the carriage tour and slave quarters in addition to the house tour to get the full effect. Leave 3-4 hours, and bring plenty of film!

Pleasant Cruise and a must see plantation

The cruise was very nice, especially since we took an early one that day due to the heat. The boat was very stable in the harbor, and hit the highlights along the shore and in the harbor during the cruise. If you have not seen any of the plantations, see Boone Hall. The house is a restoration, but the new exhibit on the slave cabins is amazing, and we abolutely loved the Gullah Theater show.

Our Family Enjoyed Seeing Beautiful Charleston!
Fri, Jun 5, 09   11:30 AM sbarnes Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our family really enjoyed the Harbor Cruise around Charleston. The staff was very friendly and attentive and went out of their way to make our seven-year-old daughter feel special! The captain provided a very interesting narrative during our cruise and the first mate and other crew members were extremely polite and pleasant. The Boone Hall plantation was beautiful. We really enjoyed our tram ride around the plantation and had a great guide who was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The plantation home is lovely, as are the gardens, and our daughter was especially intrigued by the slave quarters and we all enjoyed seeing the plantation home guides in their period-costumes. The Butterfly cafe was a nice suprise, also. Overall, we had a very nice time and I would definately reccomend it to anyone!
