This is well worth doing. The boat is well-maintained and comfortable, you get a different perspective on the city, see some of the surrounding area, and learn a fair amount of history and geography. That said, the narration is a bit pedestrian -- mostly a fairly dry recitation of facts and dates. (This in contrast to our guide on a carriage tour the next day, who was full of quirky facts, funny anecdotes, and delightful Charleston trivia.) Still, we'd absolutely recommend the harbor tour as part of your visit. You'll increase your knowledge of Charleston...and you'll see bottlenose dolphins!

We enjoyed the informative tour very much. It was good to see Charleston from the other side of Ft. Sumter.

This was an amazing 1.5-hour event that anyone visiting Charleston (whether for the first or 100th time) should take. My wife an I traveled with our daughter (15-months old) and had a blast. The crew was incredibly nice and accommodating, plus we had excellent weather. The Captain and First Mate were extremely knowledgeable of the history of Charleston. We also went around the broader area of the harbor, not just by the battery. We saw a few Bottle Nose Dolphins and Pelicans fishing; it was a great time. Definitely take your sunscreen if you plan to sit on the top deck. I caught some "unexpected" rays, but it was still an incredible time.

The captain was hilarious, the crew was friendly, the drinks were cold, and the hour and a half trip was relaxing and very informative. As we just moved to the area it was good to get an idea of Charleston's history. However, it felt as if they overbooked the boat. Most likely though no one wanted to sit on the enclosed lower level and many opted to stand topside. In my opinion that should not be allowed as they blocked a lot of the view for those of us who arrived early enough to find seats on the upper level. Also, I read another review stating that the cruise was "one sided" and I can see where they get that from as almost everything pointed out is on the right side of the boat. But, given the route they take (following the coast) it is kind of understood. I recommend getting there early enough to be in the front of the line and sitting on the top in the front on the right side.
