Recommendation for boat and carriage tours
Tue, Jun 4, 13   11:30 AM jack_boss Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I would highly recommend the boat and carriage tours. Both were enjoyable and educational. The tour guides on both were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and articulate. The guide for our carriage tour was a history student who seemed to know nearly everything about Charleston's history, buildings, homes, and churches. She was exceptional. Both tours were great values.

Shrimp City Slim ( keyboard) is one of the leaders of the Charleston blues scene and with the harmonica of Juke Joint Johnny and their drummer and guitarist, performed authentic blues with a little topping of ad lib improvisation. With great barbeque , an awesome cruise around the harbour made a fantastic experience for our group many of whom were from out of town. We were all blown away,.

Very nice combo of the carriage ride and boat tour
Fri, May 24, 13   3:30 PM Jimctravel Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Very nice tours. Our carriage ride of a small portion of Charlston and boat tour of the bay was very nice and informative. Our carriage was guided by a very pleasant young lady who had to both control her mules and tourists. Only problem was the large amount of tourists the day we were there. The boat was a little old, but it worked well for a 45 min tour of the bay. The boat guide/speaker was pleasant and informative as we'll. Overall it was a nice package. I recommend doing the carriage ride early in the day so you can have time to shop the market as it closes about 5:30 pm. Then get a lunch and do the boat tour to relax and cool down a bit on the bay.

Captain Dave provides an informative and entertaining tour of the Charleston Harbor. The boat is well equipped with comfortable chairs for viewing, a snack bar, and bathrooms. Good for the whole family. You might even spot a couple of dolphins while you're out in the harbor.

This was a very enjoyable and informative tour of the Charleston Harbor. The captain was very knowledgable of the history of Charleston and the surrounding areas. We had great weather. The soft drinks were reasonably priced. A very good thing. There are 2 tables with chairs at the rear of the boat. We were lucky to sit at one of them. The chairs were very comfortable and the table provided extra room and a place to put our drinks, camera and other items. The view was good. Get there early and go for one of the tables. We ate lunch at nearby Fleet Landing after the tour. The food was great. We also took the Palmetto Carriage Tour. We have taken 3 carriage tours over the years and this was one of our favorites. All in all, we had a great time in Charleston Saturday May 18, 2013 and the Harbor Tour was a big part of it.

This is a worth while tour if you luv America and its history like I do.The thing I would suggest is take the plantation tour by its self and spend plenty of time there because there's so much history to take in. and you will need more than a few hours.

Awesome!

We thought we would enjoy the Harbor Tour, but were initially hesitant about the Carriage Ride and Plantation Tour. Since attending each, it would be very hard to name a favorite. The narratives on the Harbor Tour, Carriage Ride, Plantation tour of the house, and Plantation ride were informational with just enough humor to hold your attention. Each of the attendants offered suggestions of additional sites to see. We took two days to do these three activities and were glad we did!!! I cannot think of a better method to get an overall concept of Charleston; its history; and, its present.

The Harbor tour was great. Very educational, nice weather and the boat was comfortable. The crew onboard was very pleasant and helpful. A great tour of the harbor and everything which surrounds it. A lot of history. The Boone Hall Plantation was very nice also. I have been on many plantation tours but none provided as much information about the lives of the slaves as did the Boone Hall Plantation. They provided much information stuggles of the African slaves during and after slavery. The Plantation grounds tour was very good showing all the different vegetables still grown on the plantation. I was not impressed by the main house since it was not the original and was built less than 100 years ago but if you like antique furniture, then you may enjoy it a little more. Plan to spend several hours here. There is a lot to see. All in all, this combo tour was well worth the price.
