Discontinued Cruise on the Carolina Queen

Extremely disappointed. The story was juvenile and disjointed; poorly written and executed. The female actor was mediocre and could not project her voice so if she turned around, you could not hear her. Two of the four actors were fairly entertaining despite the lousy script. It was worse than an 8th grade production. I would have been mad if I'd paid $10, never mind $32 !!! The weather was lovely; the boat ride pleasant. The "murder mystery" was a disaster.

Discontinued Cruise on the Carolina Queen

On the whole this was a fun night out mainly because i was with a group of friends. The flyer states to come as your favorite femme fatale and spy but then the ticket and instructions state that we should wear warm and comfortable clothing. There was a disconnect between the two. Thank god i did not wear my femme fatale outfit or I would have really stood out. I feel that more atmosphere could be accomplished by simply making the bartender dress in period. maybe play period music through the speakers. Also on the video it just shows people wearing shorts and tshirts, this did not entice me to dress in costume although until seeing the video my whole group was ready to come in full 40's costume. I thought the actors were fine and fun. It also said there would be snacks abord ship and we had to beg the bartender to find us a pack of crackers. When people pay $30 for a cruise and $6 for a drink they will not be averse to paying for a little cheese plate or nibble. this could be greatly improved. I think most of these things could be changed or improved with very little effort or cost with much to enhance the trip. Make a new video and have the actors friends dress in period and have a snack or two especially when selling alcohol( i think it is a law that if you sell alcohol you must provide some type of food) all in alit was a nice evening out and the actors were fine and funny. I think if everyone just carried the theme out one more step it would have gotten a rave review. I look forward to improvements! thank you

My husband and I started off with the Harbor tour and was very happy with the information and tour overall. However, if you aren't upstairs on the deck, it's difficult to take pictures and get a different perspective of places as opposed being downstairs in enclosed area with windows. Information was great as was staff. Carriage ride had a minor glitch getting on but they were most gracious and got us on when we were overlooked. Our driver was most entertaining/knowledgeable and basically couldn't ask for a better tour guide. How he could share historical info, maneuver around with the carriage and deal with traffic and still be attentive to all of us on the ride was amazing! Great trip and would definitely recommend to others. In fact have a friend going next month and giving him info. Thanks!

Very good tour of a portion of Charleston (although we really wanted to see the mansions along the harbor) which went through some historic areas with lovely homes, cobblestone streets, gorgeous gardens, churches, etc. The Guide was lots of fun and kept our interest for the entire hour. Would recommend to others who visit. We also did the harbor tour (combo) which was delightful as well. Many thanks!

I enjoyed both tours, however I would go to the Plantation first thing in the morning as there is a lot to see. Maybe catch the harbor cruise late in the afternoon or on another day. Very relaxing cruise.

I wouldn't take the boat tour again, very disappointed. We were too far away from everything to really see it. Some of the information was interesting, and gave us ideas on other things to do in Charleston. The carriage tour was very good, enjoyed the guide and the sights. Also disappointed to find out that the tickets cost more online than if we purchased them at the boat tour location. Live and learn.

We loved both the harbor cruise and the carriage ride. Unfortunately we never made it to Boone hall. My suggestion is to start EARLY. We did the cruise at 11 and the carriage tour immediately afterwards. We chose Lunch over the drive back to Boone hall with only about 45 minutes of browsing time.... The harbor cruise was beautiful however I did wonder if there was a way to reserve a table aside from joining a bus tour (they had the best indoor seats). Despite the weather, it was a beautiful tour and the crew was fantastic. Loved the carriage ride and our guide was very knowledgeable.

Sort of hard to see when you are sitting down and in the middle row. Afraid to stand up cuz people behind you would not be able to see then. It was nice and something different to do.

We took advantage of seeing Charleston via water and carriage. The two tours provided a great wealth of information from very different perspectives, and both were very enjoyable and entertaining. I would strongly recommend these to other visitors to fabulous Charleston.

Positives: excellent bbq, good music, nice boat ride Negatives: drunken people monopolizing dance floor, not much seating upstairs, so had to stand the whole time, band member smoking (don't like that on a boat)

I was initially upset with Palmetto Carriage tours because my friend and I were not going to be able to get on the first carriage ride although we were the first ones in line. However, Palmetto went out of their way to put on an extra carriage for us and a few other people. They also offered to drive us to the Harbor Tour. In fact, they went out of their way to make up for what did not occur. I really appreciate the treatment that we received from them. Also, Sean our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the tour. Sincerely, Lisa
