Booking Problems with Horse-drawn Wagon Ride Combo: Charleston Harbor Tour & Carriage Ride |
|||||
| Sat, Jul 5 3:30 PM | RBauserman | Male | 50-59 | Domestic Tourist(s) | Family Without Children | |
| We bought the Harbor Tour and Horse-drawn Wagon Ride combination package with Charleston Harbor Tours. We checked in as directed at dock area and was assigned a Harbor Tour time, and a Horse Drawn Wagon Ride time. We went to the Horse Drawn Wagon Ride stables, but were told that they were full for the day, with no chance to get that ride in. After some "discussion", the young lady was kind enough to refund part of our money for the Horse Drawn Wagon Ride. We then paid an additional $16, above our refund amount, for a Horse Drawn Wagon Ride with another carriage company (Old South Carriage Rides), and was loaded onto the next wagon ride. This left us plenty of time to return to the dock area, and to complete our Harbor Tour with Charleston Harbor Tours. Had it not been for the young lady's bending of the rules and refunding our money ($68), we would have lost that amount, plus the $16 extra, for a total cost to ride on a Horse Drawn Wagon Ride of $152 for 4 people. Nice break from the walk Historic Charleston Harbor Tour |

| We have been to Charleston many times and thought this would be a nice break from all the walking. It was a chance for us to view the sights from the water. The only problem was there were too many people on board and we never really had a good view and could enjoy it as much as we would have liked too. They did offer snacks which was nice. It wasn't too expensive, however, I will probably not do it again. | ||||||

| The tour of the harbor was well received by my group. I was surprised to find out that I would have made a better deal on the price of the tour had I simply purchased the tickets vs. buying through Zerve. Since I had a group, rate would have been $13.50 per ticket, however since I purchased through Zerve, my rate was $17.50 per ticket..$4 per ticket more! I think this is an unacceptably high premium of over 20%. So while I recommend the tour, you will be better off purchsing directly from the tour company. | ||||||

Couldn't hear a thing. Historic Charleston Harbor Tour |

| I always like to take a guided tour of areas that we visit. This tour seemed perfect since we know that Charleston can be very hot during July. The tour boat had a lower level that was climate controlled where we would be able to get out of the sun if we needed to. The problem came when a small handful of us were put on a boat with a very large family reunion group. Not only did they get full use of the lower level with tables for eating and socializing, they really were not there for a harbor tour. They were more into talking and having fun with the family. I honestly don't feel as though we received what we paid for. We were unable to hear the narration( including the part about where the life-jackets were). Big parties on this boat are a great idea. But tell other customers what is going on. Give us the option of getting on a tour with just tourists like ourselves. I will be asking for 4 free tickets or a refund. | ||||||

4th of July Fun in Charleston Combo: Charleston Harbor Tour & Carriage Ride |

| We truly enjoyed the Charleston Harbor Tour especially the gentlemen that was the commentator, he made the trip exciting and fun. We were surprised how far into the harbor we went, which made the tour worth every dollar. We had a great guide on the carriage tour and he had a wonderful "Low Country Accent". He was extremely knowledgable with a great sense of humor. Being a horse lover I am always concerned with the well being of the horses. It was a relief to see that the horses were well taken care of, otherwise I would not have gone on the carriage ride. Thanks for being such a fun part of our 4th of July trip to Charleston.... | The carriage ride was with the Old Towne Carriage Company- they were great. The harbor cruise was on the Carolina Belle and it was just okay. I would suggest a different harbor tour and just skip the combo purchase. There are five different carriage companies and if you plan to travel during high season it would be better not to have a reservation. Just find the one with the shortest wait time...it gets crowded. | ||||||

| If you've ever been out on a boat before don't bother with this one. The narration is silly... I don't think we needed a description of how the container ships were loaded, and that there was a modern building on the point of Mt. Pleasant that housed lawyer's offices. Some of the sites that were pointed out near theBattery (Rainbow Row for example) you can't even see from the boat.They noted there would be refreshments served on the tour, the girl behind the counter was no where to be found for half the trip. It was extremely hot ( first week of July) and we were very thirsty and could not get a drink. Your money would be well spent elsewhere. | ||||||

A PERFECT AFTERNOON Combo: Charleston Harbor Tour & Carriage Ride |
|||||

| The Captain on the Harbour Tour was so informed, you could tell he loved Charleston and his job, it was easy to get caught up with everything he had to say. Our entire Family loved this Tour, and we had a 4 year old with us.The Captain pointed out dolphins dancing alongside the boat, his southern speech and hospitality made you want to stay forever and listen to him talk. For our Carriage Ride, we had a History buff, his excitement was contagious, he had no problem pulling over and getting into the History of the City. the delightful part of both tours, is we would (and will) do them again next time we are in Charleston. Highly,highly recommended..... | ||||||

Nice lecture on tour Historic Charleston Harbor Tour |

| Really wish the top deck had a canvas tarp for shade as the day was quite pleasant and I do love smelling the water but couldn't take 90 min. of sun. The tour was on an metal ferry type boat with an enclosed air conditioned main floor and an open air deck with light snacks (dogs, crackers, etc.) & soda. The head was also on the top deck. Boat was clean and loose wooden folding chairs were provdied for cruisers. Good for all ages. Detailed information was provided around the significant points of the harbor. Tour motored out to Fort Sumter turned back along eastern shore line for a nice water side view of the Air Craft Carrier Independence. Crew was very polite and helpful. Dock from land to boat is a little long if you have issues walking. Must be able to walk a metal approach ramp to decks and use stairs (has railings on both sides) in order to get from one deck to the other. They will fold and stow your wheelchair. I recommend for a causual boat ride with history lesson. | ||||||

| You guys at Charleston harbor tour and carraige ride are extremely fortunate to have Terry as one of your guides.She was very, very knowledgeable in the Charleston history as I also have studied for years.This lady was a 100% class act very professional and articulate in her description of the area.My wife and I both have recommended this ride with your company and we hope that they will be as lucky as we were to have Terry and Jake {the horse} conducting it. Thanks for a great experience! Chris Plyler | ||||||

Great Tour but watch out for bad weather! Combo: Charleston Harbor Tour & Carriage Ride |
|||||
| Sun, Jun 29 3:30 PM | StephanieS | Female | 20-29 | Domestic Tourist(s) | Group of Friends | |
| I went on the Harbor Tour first and as soon as we arrived it began storming pretty badly. We still went on the tour because we could not be refunded, but the weather became worse and worse and we were stuck in the middle of the storm. The storm was so bad we had to go inside and could not see the things the tour guide was pointing out to us due to the rain/fog. Other than that, the tour was great. It's interesting to see the city and surrounding areas by boat, so I'd definitely recommend it. Just make sure it's going to be a nice day when you book your tour. The carriage tour was fun and interesting. I wished we had seen more, but you're only allowed to go in certain "zones" and you never know which zone you're going to get until the ride begins. The tour also lasts about an hour, but the hour goes by rather quickly. The tour guide was informative and funny, and it was overall a great time. | ||||||
