Loved Harbor, Blah on Carriage

The harbor ride was informative, relaxing and interesting. The narrative provided by the captain was entertaining and easy to hear all over the ship.
The carriage ride was also informative. The driver asked where we were from and when he found out I was from Ohio, he used that as the brunt of quite a few anti-northern comments which I'm sure he meant as jokes. By the end of the ride, the humor had worn thin and I wanted to tell him ..."You lost the war, get over it." But I didn't. I must say thought that his comments spoiled much of my enjoyment of the ride. |

Tour was excellent. Need to supply directions as to where you can park a car. Tour guide gave great explanations and was very entertaining. Also need better signage directing passengers to boat. |

Our experience with the Harbor Tour was excellent! So much information to take in and the sights were awesome! Our tour Captain was so knowledgable and made it fun too. The only thing that was stressful was finding the ticket center. There was some construction and detour signs but we finally made it. The Boone Hall Plantation was excellent also. We took in as much as we could and Victoria conducted our tour of the house. She was excellent with details and stories as was the man who took us on the open tram. Since this was our first time visiting Charleston the tours were a great way to get familiar with the city. We will definatley be returning for some more of the charming city of Charleston! |

To be able to see an historic city from two perspectives painted a much more complete picture than either one could individually. Both tours followed a planned route, I am sure were traveled 100s of times before. In spite of this, both tour guides where still very interesting and informative.
Of the two, the carriage ride was more fun. The reason (I believe) was because the group was much smaller and the guide spoke directly to us and could interact with us. On the harbor tour, the guide spoke through a PA system, although I understand why.
We had perfect weather for both tours, which made them easier to enjoy. A day that is warm and sunny with low humidity and calm winds (what we had) is ideal. Check the weather forecast before you book.
Booking both tours at the same time saves you a few dollars per ticket. We did the harbor tour first. The tour company provided a voucher for the carriage tour. This permitted us plenty of time to take a nice leisurely lunch break in between in a restaurant within walking distance of both tours.
The carriage tour office is located in an historic part of town with narrow streets and little obvious available parking to a non-local. A bonus with the carriage tour included free parking (in a private lot) with enough time afterward to do some shopping.
My family has vacationed in North Myrtle Beach for the past 20 years. Every year we talked about seeing Charleston. Now that we finally have, I am so sorry we waited so long. It is a beautiful city full of very nice people. We had a wonderful time. |

The Harbor Tour was so beautiful and at a nice slow pace to look around and hear the narrator/captain of the boat. No choppy waters, no wind, no rain, no hurry ,absolutely perfect. You actually want to stay on the boat all day.
The Carriage Ride was comforting and I never saw such beautiful old houses in my life. The Narrator's voice was so clear and everyone could hear him PERFECTLY. He was so nice to all of us.
And finally the Plantation tour at Boone Hall was breathtaking. We saw an alligator in the swamp/marsh area and the ride on the big wagon around the land was fun because they were getting ready for Halloween and there were decorations on the trees and shacks. The House inside tour was short and quick just the way I like it.
Also in the Carriage tour, you learned so much history in that short amount of time because the tour guides really knew their stuff. You could ask lots of question and always get a good, precise answer.
I recommend this for anyone who wants to get to know Charleston in one day because there is so much more to learn and so many other places to go and it wasn't expensive at all. Loved it all!!! AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!! |

I organized a group of 13 for a trip to Charleston and Folly Beach. Everyone, young and old alike, LOVED the boat ride. It is such a fun way to enjoy the view of beautiful Charleston harbor, learn some historical facts and answer trivia questions from the captain. ( we won 2 items from the snack bar). There was plenty of seating with a choice of outdoor sun or indoor air conditioning. This activity just edged out the horse drawn carriage- most likely due to the lovely breeze on an 85 degree day. We've already recommended this boat cruise to our friends who are visiting Charleston this weekend. |

We were unable to attend. After purchasing the tickets online we found out that a member of our party had cancer and needed immedicate surgery. I called the agent that handled the payment on-line and was told that all they did was process the payment and that I needed to talk with an agent at the tour company. I called several times and left messages each time for someone to call me but I never received a call back.
As much as I am sure I would have enjoyed the tour I wlll never recommend your company to anyone and it showed me that you are better off to buy the ticket in person rather than on-line.
Hopefully, in the future you will be responsible enough to listen to messages and return calls. I really hope everyone in your family remains healthy and you are not faced with the future we are sure to have. |

We had several hours to kill and a tour of the harbor was a good alternative to shopping. It was a nice day, without a lot of rock to the boat so it was a comfortable ride in plastic porch chairs. There is a snack bar but we didn't bother using it. The captain's narration about Ft. Sumter and Ft. Moultrie were the interesting part of the tour. I would have welcomed more information during the 15 minute lull when we headed back to the high rise Cooper River bridge. Most people eat up history trivia. It's easier hearing it than reading a book. The price was fair for the time, about 90 minutes, and certainly a lot less than taking a half day boat or sailing tour. In the fall or spring, you will probably need a light jacket or fleece but you won't get wet, especially with an indoor cabin if the weather goes south. We sat on the forward deck to take full advantage of the breeze. |

Our day trip to Charleston was great. I took my two girls on the ferry tour where we saw Fort Sumter, James Island and even dolphins in the water. Then, we took a horse drawn carriage ride around the city. Both activities were fun and educational and I would highly recommend it! |

All three activities were enjoyable. The cruise was very relaxing and informative. The carriage tour -- once I found where I was to go for it -- also was enjoyable. Guides for both were informative. The one on the carriage tour demonstrated a neat sense of humor when one of the horses kept leaving "deposits" on the streets and the other horse refused to walk over a grate. The plantation tour was also enjoyable. The "carriage" tour around the plantation gave a nice overview with information about the wildlife of the plantation, the crops, and some of the history. The house tour was also enjoyable although it was limited to the first floor which really was only about four or five rooms. Due to arthritic hips and knees, I did not tour the slave street but I understand there are videos in each cabin which no doubt were informative. |

My family and I recently purchased the tri-combo tour and had a great time! The Harbour Tour was the only one you actually scheduled a time for (the time you pick online). The others can be done at any time - the same day, or another day that you choose. The tour company (located in charleston, where you can pick up the tickets after purchasing online) was very flexible.. we actually scheduled the 1:30 tour, but were told that we could go on whichever tour ended up fitting our schedule best... no need to call and reschedule. The harbour tour was nice. It's a 90 minute tour, pointing out different points of interest around the harbour. There are restrooms and a snack bar available, and the tour made for great pictures! The Carriage tours run every 20 minutes, so you can just show up whenever is most convenient for you. They run about an hour, and you're given a tour of 1 section of the city, drawn at random. (I think there were 3 sections). The Plantation tour was also really flexible. They were open until 5pm, and it's pretty much as long as you make it. It included a 40 minute trolly tour of the grounds, a self-guided (walk-through) tour of the slave cabins, and a 30 minute tour of the first floor of the House. I think there may have been another tour or two that we missed, but the pictures we took there were beautiful. All in all a great value! We broke the tours up into 2 days. We found that trying to do all 3 in one was pushing it just a little too much. I'd definitely recommend it! |

Took the combo tour - the boat part of the tour was boring and not all that informative. Would not recommend this to anyone. Waste of money, Now, the carriage tour was great. Very informative & enjoyable. The carriage part of this tour was so good we intend to go back next spring and do it again.. |
