Description

Join us on a 90-minute walking ghost tour of Boston!

If you are looking for theatrics and gimmicks, this is not the tour for you. In mixing Bostonian history and spooky tales, Haunted Boston Ghost Tours will show you a side of Boston rarely seen by visitors and locals alike. We will entertain you with ghostly and macabre stories and lesser known historical details such as:
  • Revealing which Boston subway stop is reportedly haunted
  • Visiting the site where all public executions took place
  • Learning about the creepy skin book in the Boston Athenaeum
  • Visiting the beautiful Omni Parker House Hotel to learn of all the ghosts rumored to haunt their halls
You will get a balanced tour discussion which includes provoking, goose-bump giving tales as well as reasonable and historically-grounded discussions about Boston's past and present.

Come learn about the ghostly history of old Boston!

“Had a great time on the Haunted Boston Ghost Tour. Entertaining, saturated with some of the seedier history of old Boston, and I learned a thing or two. Plus, a great bang for my buck.” -Andy M., Cambridge, MA

FAQs

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tours often sell out, so we recommend booking well in advance. Tickets can be purchased using Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
What if it rains? Will the tour be cancelled?
The tour is conducted rain or shine, unless there is severe weather with lightening and thunder. We do cancel the tour if it snows. If that happens, you will be notified by Haunted Boston Ghost Tours and will be able to reschedule (subject to availability) or receive credit to return at a future date.
Is the tour appropriate for children? What type of ticket do children need?
Yes, the tour is appropriate for most ages. We do many school group tours each year and all stories are appropriate for ages 8 and up. Of course we have had 6 year old children on the tour and it did not faze them, whereas the 40 year old parents went home and had nightmares; each person is different. We offer a youth ticket for those under 16 years old and while the tour is not recommended for young kids, if you will be bringing an infant or toddler under the age of 5, they may attend for free.
Do we go inside any of the buildings and cemeteries during the tour?
Yes. We start the tour at the Central Burying Ground Cemetery in the Boston Common. The cemetery is locked at sunset, so we cannot enter it. We do, however, end our tour in the lobby of the Omni Parker House Hotel.
How much walking is involved?
This tour lasts approximately 1½ hours and covers less than 1 mile. We walk at a leisurely pace and make frequent stops along the way to tell stories. All stories are told while stopped so there is no walking to try and keep up to hear the story.
Will local residents enjoy this tour or is it only for tourists?
Our tour is great for tourists, visitors, and locals alike! Not only are our tour guides fantastic story tellers, they also have a wide knowledge of local history, including lesser-known details. You will be surprised how much you learn about your home town.
Does the tour end at the starting location?
No, we start the tour in the Boston Common at the Central Burying Ground Cemetery, but the tour ends at the Omni Parker Hotel.
How many people will be on the tour?
We try to keep the tours under 30 people per guide, anything over that is too large of a group and it makes hearing the guide difficult. We do offer private tours of any size with multiple tour guides.
If a tour is sold out can I get on a waiting list?
We do not provide a waiting list. However, if a date is sold out, there is a chance that we may add an additional tour. Please contact us by clicking on the “Contact HauntdBoston” link to let us know what date you are interested in taking the tour.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Of course! Some of the best photos have been taken by unwitting photographers intending to shoot other subjects. Orbs and apparitions tend to show up in photos, even when you didn’t see anything while snapping the picture. So good luck ghost hunting and if you capture something interesting, send us the picture too!
Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Yes, it is, however there is one hill that has a slight incline and there may be some uneven streets and sidewalks. We ask that you let us know by including a "Message to the Seller" when purchasing your tickets if anyone in your group will be in a wheelchair or stroller so we can adjust the tour route to avoid stairs.
Is the tour conducted in English only?
Yes, at the moment we are only running tours in English. We have conducted tours for the deaf as well as Spanish and French speaking guests, however they provided the interpreters. If you would like to bring an interpreter, keep in mind that they will need a ticket as well.
Are tips for the guide accepted?
Tipping your tour guide is always acceptable, but not required - it is totally at your discretion. Our guides are highly professional and well-trained to entertain you and all of our guests. Many of our guests appreciate good service and choose to reward it, and the guides are always grateful.
Will restrooms be available during the tour?
There are limited public restrooms around Boston. We highly encourage you to find restrooms before the tour starts, however we can recommend restrooms for emergencies at the start of the tour. We end the tour at the Omni Parker House Hotel and there are restrooms available there.
Can dogs or pets attend the tour?
While it is not encouraged, we have had guests bring their dogs on the tour. Please notify us in advance by including a "Message to the Seller" if you are bringing a pet and be respectful of the group. We do end our tour in the lobby of the Omni Parker House Hotel and, although it has not happened yet, you might be asked to stay outside with your pet while the tour finishes.
Do you offer gift certificates for your tour?
Yes, we do. Please contact us by clicking on the “Contact HauntdBoston” link to let us know you are interested in purchasing a gift certificate.
Can I book a private tour?
Yes. Private tours are available for groups of any size. Whether you are looking for a unique birthday party idea or a corporate outing, we are able to accommodate your group. Please click on the "Contact HauntdBoston" link to inquire further.
