Great time the tour guide was very pleasurable and had some good stories of Richmond that tied into the ghost theme. Would take it again. |

I thought it was informative and interesting but the tour guide walked so fast it was hard for my party to keep up. It felt rushed. I am glad I went though. We did have a good time. I can say I have been on a ghost tour and I did get a couple of interesting pictures too. The Poe Museum definitely has ghosts. |

This tour was a lot of fun for my friends and myself, believers and skeptics in ghosts! We tooks pictures and ended up getting orbs, which was really cool! There was some walking involved, so wear comfortable shoes, but it wasn't too much! |

My wife and I went on this walking tour on 8/16/08. The tour lasted for over two hours which was about 30 minutes too long. Lots of fairly strenuous walking up to the Capitol building and executive mansion. The ghost stories were fairly routine- tragic accident happened here, lots of people died kind of thing. The guide was an older male who did not have a lot of personality and was not overly enthusiastic. He had a bad habit of closing his eyes every time he addressed the group. He was knowledgeable about Richmond history and how it looked over the past 200 years. The highlights of the tour were the views of the Capitol building and mansion at night, the story about the Monumental Church, the visit to the sight of the buried train under Church Hill, and the Enchanted Garden at night. The tour may also interest those who want to know more about obscure Richmond historical events. My wife found this tour more interesting than I did and has more of an open mind about ghosts. Some people on the tour claimed to capture images of "orbs" with their cameras at some of the various stops. |

The tour is a very interesting look at some of the history of downtown Richmond. It is not very creepy or scary so dont go expecting to be frightened. Make sure to where comfortable walking shoes as you will walk about 2.5 miles, a lot of it uphill. The tour guide was pretty knowledgeable but in my opinion let her interest in the paranormal get in the way. Dont expect much from the Edgar Allen Poe aspect. All around it was an okay experience. |

Our family enjoyed the historical info on this tour and would have liked more of it. It is interesting to see Richmond on a night walking tour as we would never do this alone. The children ranged from 14 down to age 6. They all felt there was too much to-do about "ghosts" etc. We enjoyed walking around the governor's mansion and capitol building. Our guide did not wear the widely-mentioned "white robe" and I was glad of that. I wish he had shared much more information about Edgar Allan Poe and other historical figures. There was plenty of opportunity to share additional info while the slower walkers caught up.
I don't regret doing it as it was interesting. But, I won't be doing another "ghost" walk for a long time. |

The tour and the advertisement for the tour was very misleading, non-interactive and boring. Will not reccommend to any other individuals or groups. |

I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into but as it turned out, this ghost tour was really alot of fun! There is so much history to Richmond and this tour can really only touch the surface. Our guide, Marcia, was very energetic, personable and thorough with the stories she told us. In between stops there was a great deal of walking, even hiking up steep inclines and hills, but she was very patient and tried to stop occasionally to give everyone a breather as well as a preview of the next stop to come. Thank goodness it was not too terribly hot! We were encouraged to ask questions along the way and take pictures with our digital cameras whenever we wanted. And there were some moments when certain cameras wouldn't work! All in all, we were treated to a 2 hour tour in which we learned a great deal about haunted Richmond and got some great exercise to boot! Thanks Marcia! |
