Money well spent

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. He definitely fit the part. Our tour was at least and hour and a half long so wear comfortable shoes. It was definitely worth the money.

boring

I thought it was very boring. They walked you around Richmond and told ghost stories. They didn't even take you close to the location.

A bunch of friends and I did this Ghost Walk as a Mom's Night Out (www.naprichmond.com). We all had a lot of fun! I would recommend this to everyone.

the tour was way too general and remote

We did glean a little bit of information that seemed somewhat authentic, but the general feeling of our experience was boredom, and there was really very little walking. Our cheerful tour guide rambled on with some general sounding legends, some of which were told in a vacant parking lot which was well lit but had no significance whatsoever. We actually saw a few of the really significant sites (like the site of the tunnel collapse, the outside of the Edgar Allan Poe House, and from a faaarrr distance, the roof of Monumental Church). We got to imagine some of the most exciting and creepy places (like Hollywood Cemetery, the haunted Governors Mansion, and Monumental Church that was the site of the great theater fire of 1811, and St. John's Church Cemetery which was only mentioned). If one is up for a walk, I believe that at least three of these sites are within walking distance. Rather than feeling up close and personal with the creepy side of our Capitol City, we left thinking that we had just heard a lot of rumors, many of which didn't seem to have much of a basis and didn't have the feeling of authenticity that one would like to share with others. All in all, if you can't put me in close proximity to what is being talked about (that would be a tour) and present the material with at least a hint of conviction, then don't bother to mention it. I believe the tour has a lot of potential but needs a lot of improvement.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the tour. It was very educational, and we learned alot about richmond's history. Loved the little scary stories that went along with the tour. We will probably do it again next year.

Good Tour, Needs better presentation

We certainly enjoyed aspect of this tour. Our guide was gracious and told us that if our little girl couldn't finish the tour and got cranky we could come back the next night with the same tickets. That was very nice. We especially liked the stop at the old train tunnel and the story connected with that. It seemed like the most "haunted" spot and no one would find it, much less know the story behind it, without something like this tour to direct them. Our one disappointment was that our guide was not the best storyteller. The historical aspect of the tour was well done, but when it got to the actual story behind the building/location, it seemed a little disjoint and anti-climatic at times. All in all, we got to see parts of Richmond that we would otherwise have not seen, learned more about the history, but thought that the suspense and excitement of the stories during the tour could have been presented better.

Too expensive.

Rather expensive ($13 per adult) to see 3 buildings (without even going inside them), stand in an empty parking lot, and be given inaccuarate historical information. Don't waste your time on this tour.

The stories were very interesting and well told. Enjoyed the walking and seeing the sites of downtown Richmond. Really enjoyed the tour at the capital and the governor's house.

Haunts of Richmond

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Richmond. She was great! I wish I could remember her name...sorry Ms. Tour Guide. The only downside was that toward the middle of the tour the sky opened up and it downpoured!!!!! Even with umbrellas our group was soaked. I understand that is rains, but it would be nice if some kind of discount could apply so I could come back at another time to re-do the tour. A discount even as small as15% off each ticket. With or with out a discount, our group plans on returning!!! I am looking forward to the book that the Haunts of Richmond plans on publishing.

We really enjoyed the haunts tour and would recommend it to ghost enthusiasts. We also enjoyed the widows house. It scared my step sister to the point of tears.
