Fun and Informative
Fri, Dec 29, 06   9:00 PM GodzStr8edge Female 20-29 Local Group of Friends
Not only was I intreaged to learn of the paranormal activity that took place in buildings I had dwelled in, and businesses I was familure with. But the our turned out to be one of the very few history lessons that interested me. Listing to the haunting tales and seeing where they took place gives you an image of Richmond's past no text book could describe. In short, I came for a good time and left wiser than before!

The tour was a lot of fun. I'm from the area and wanted to take my extended family out to see some of Richmond in a fun atmosphere and Haunts of Richmond provided just that. I highly recommend this as an activity to take out of town guests on.

Absolutely a Great Event!!

The Ghost Walking Tour was fascinating!! We got more insights into some of the many actual ghosts in the downtown Richmond area and more insights into other sights to see in downtown Richmond. We absolutely loved it. We also went through the Haunted Widow’s Mansion as part of the tour. We enjoyed that as well even though my son and my nephew chose not to go through the haunted house part of the evening.

It was a great time

The walking tour was a lot of fun! It was very interesting because you were able to learn a little more about the history of downtown Richmond as well as the ghosts that haunt the buildings. If I could change anything would be to have smaller groups, but it would have been fun with 100 people. Of course, the added entertainment from people going out on a Saturday night was funny as well.

A must for locals and tourists, alike

This was a terrific experience overall and made for a splendid date. We were even a little late, due to a dinner reservation run long, but the ghost host was very understanding and cordial. It was interesting because it offered a historical perspective as well as the supernatural element. The host told stories with such conviction I really believed. And all the creepy stories allowed for a close date in the cold! ; ) I couldn't recommend this event more! Next time I'll try the haunted house!

Paranormal in Shockoe
Thu, Nov 2, 06   9:00 PM ambrosia8901 Female 20-29 Local Group of Friends
Being a local, I thought I knew all the ghost stories of Richmond. This tour really proved me wrong by providing some of the lesser know but definitely not less interesting ghost stories of the Shockoe area. Walking around and seeing these places was great and 75 minutes was the perfect length to tour. This is a highly recommended tour for insight into a bloodier side to Richmond's past.

Instead of just telling the stories, be creative like scaring us with noises or something..

Dissapointing, for a Halloween Event
Tue, Oct 31, 06   9:00 PM Cindyspit Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Although the tour guide was very nice, and tried to entertain us, perhaps because this was the night of Halloween, the tour was like a bottle of fizzly without the fizz! For example, the tourgide was not in costume, and carried a bottle of water with her. Well, a bit of imagination could have had this person in a costume, to be a bit in the spirit of the night, and could have had the water bottle concealed, in , well a bottle labled BLOOD or something equally obnoxioius. I suppose, on any other night, the many ghostly stories would have been more entertaining. We expected more on this special night, and so, were dissapointed. On one point of the tour, near the Poe Museum, the tour stopped to hear a story, near a wall, and the smell of urine was unmistakable! Disgusting! Also, many of the people on the tour smoked, also disgusting. And, walking past filled, smelly garbage containers was not happiness either. So, we will never take this tour again, nor will we recommend it to our friends, we are sorry to say. The 15.00 per person fee was not a good value, not at all! We didn't even get a piece of candy! How lame is that? Anyway, I almost did not leave this review, because I could see that the tour guide was sincere, but was not given the tools she needed to be more entertaining. Hope this helps.

Leaves you wanting more

Good ghost stories, but not very scary. I would love to actually be able to go inside buildings at some point. Being outside is very distracting because the traffic is loud and there are people walking to bars in Shockhoe Bottom, so it's hard to hear. Guide was very knowledgable.

Very Disappointed
Sun, Oct 29, 06   7:30 PM bigsteve49 Male 20-29 Local Group of Friends
A group of my friends and I (nine of us in all) went on this tour. None of us had been before and we were all excited about going. As advertised on the website we were expecting to visit 10 places in all. By the end of the tour we had only been taken to 6 places...7 if you count the building where we met and the last minute attempt to get us to spend more money to go through the haunted house with the possibility of seeing "Mary" a ghost that has been sited through the haunted house. Our tour guide was not very ethusiastic and some of her stories seemed a bit "hokie" to say the least. I even caught myself spacing out and not paying attention to most of the stories because she wasn't very entertaining or excited about the tour herself. We spent $16.50 per person plus the service charges and tax and it was quite a disappointment. I would definately NOT recommend this to anyone else unless you are wanting to throw away your money on a tour that is extremely boring and not as advertised. The tour itself was supposed to take 75-90 minutes. We left 15 minutes late at 7:45 instead of 7:30 and were completely done by 8:30...so it only took 45 minutes. Not a single member of my group enjoyed the tour and we were all very disappointed. We briefly chatted with some of the other individuals attending the tour and they agreed that it was not as advertised and a waste of money. I cannot in good faith recommend this tour to anyone.

VERY INFORMATIVE & FUN ACTIVITY
Sun, Oct 29, 06   7:30 PM REBECCATIRS Female 30-39 Local Family Without Children
THIS WAS A GREAT OUTING. THE GUIDE WAS VERY THOROUGH IN HER DETAILS ON THE EVENTS AND TALES OF EACH PLACE WE WENT TO. IT WAS VERY INTERESTING TO SEE THE ACTUAL BUILDINGS AND HEAR THE STORIES, ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE RIGHT HERE IN OUR LOCAL AREA.

Great Fun

We had a great time walking and learning haunted history of the area. Before the tour we were standing outside in the garden, just looking up at the buildings. On top of one of them we saw a large bird when his head turned we were surprised to see it was an owl. What a way to begin a haunted tour. we would reccommend this tour to anyone with visitors or family. We would like to take a day-time tour now of the area!
