Knowlegable Guide Through Ghostly Past

This is one of the best tours we have taken. Our guide was very personable and able to tailor her presentation to our interests. She encouraged questions and had a fine sense of humor. We could tell that she loved the history of the area. She was wonderful answering our questions about both the history and about the other places of interest that we should see while in the area. I recomend this if you are interested in history, ghostly stories, and enjoy a good walk. We had a wonderful evening!

So many ghost stories! Loved the reactions from the group! Beautiful buildings. Enjoyed all the walking and learning more about Shockoe's history. The haunted house was a great way to end the tour.

Very interesting and informative

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about both the ghost history and the "real" history of the Shockoe Bottom region and Richmond in general. We especially enjoyed the legend of the Church Hill Tunnel, but I won't give away the story here. The only complaint we had was that it was a bitterly cold and windy night -- unexpected for the first weekend in April. Otherwise, it was a lot of fun and educational too!

Fun and Informative

Not only was I intreaged to learn of the paranormal activity that took place in buildings I had dwelled in, and businesses I was familure with. But the our turned out to be one of the very few history lessons that interested me. Listing to the haunting tales and seeing where they took place gives you an image of Richmond's past no text book could describe. In short, I came for a good time and left wiser than before!

The tour was a lot of fun. I'm from the area and wanted to take my extended family out to see some of Richmond in a fun atmosphere and Haunts of Richmond provided just that. I highly recommend this as an activity to take out of town guests on.

Absolutely a Great Event!!

The Ghost Walking Tour was fascinating!! We got more insights into some of the many actual ghosts in the downtown Richmond area and more insights into other sights to see in downtown Richmond. We absolutely loved it. We also went through the Haunted Widow’s Mansion as part of the tour. We enjoyed that as well even though my son and my nephew chose not to go through the haunted house part of the evening.

It was a great time

The walking tour was a lot of fun! It was very interesting because you were able to learn a little more about the history of downtown Richmond as well as the ghosts that haunt the buildings. If I could change anything would be to have smaller groups, but it would have been fun with 100 people. Of course, the added entertainment from people going out on a Saturday night was funny as well.

A must for locals and tourists, alike

This was a terrific experience overall and made for a splendid date. We were even a little late, due to a dinner reservation run long, but the ghost host was very understanding and cordial. It was interesting because it offered a historical perspective as well as the supernatural element. The host told stories with such conviction I really believed. And all the creepy stories allowed for a close date in the cold! ; ) I couldn't recommend this event more! Next time I'll try the haunted house!

Paranormal in Shockoe
Thu, Nov 2, 06   9:00 PM ambrosia8901 Female 20-29 Local Group of Friends
Being a local, I thought I knew all the ghost stories of Richmond. This tour really proved me wrong by providing some of the lesser know but definitely not less interesting ghost stories of the Shockoe area. Walking around and seeing these places was great and 75 minutes was the perfect length to tour. This is a highly recommended tour for insight into a bloodier side to Richmond's past.

Instead of just telling the stories, be creative like scaring us with noises or something..

Dissapointing, for a Halloween Event
Tue, Oct 31, 06   9:00 PM Cindyspit Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Although the tour guide was very nice, and tried to entertain us, perhaps because this was the night of Halloween, the tour was like a bottle of fizzly without the fizz! For example, the tourgide was not in costume, and carried a bottle of water with her. Well, a bit of imagination could have had this person in a costume, to be a bit in the spirit of the night, and could have had the water bottle concealed, in , well a bottle labled BLOOD or something equally obnoxioius. I suppose, on any other night, the many ghostly stories would have been more entertaining. We expected more on this special night, and so, were dissapointed. On one point of the tour, near the Poe Museum, the tour stopped to hear a story, near a wall, and the smell of urine was unmistakable! Disgusting! Also, many of the people on the tour smoked, also disgusting. And, walking past filled, smelly garbage containers was not happiness either. So, we will never take this tour again, nor will we recommend it to our friends, we are sorry to say. The 15.00 per person fee was not a good value, not at all! We didn't even get a piece of candy! How lame is that? Anyway, I almost did not leave this review, because I could see that the tour guide was sincere, but was not given the tools she needed to be more entertaining. Hope this helps.
