The girl that led the walk was funny, animated, lively and had a lot of knowledge about the ghosts in Richmond. I recommend this tour to anyone. It was my 2nd time. I brought my friend from work this time and we are going to go on the pub tour next time.

Interesting for the Older Group
Sat, Jul 25  9:00 PM dmessmer Female 30-39 Local Family With Children
Our group consisted of an over 65 couple, a 34 year old female, and 3 teen girls. The girls thought it would be much scarier, so they lost interest pretty quick. The tour was more of a historically informative description of certain spots in the City, but told using stories of ghosts. I enjoyed it, but I thought it was overpriced.

the guide was less than interesting

We signed up for this hoping for some history and a little spooky fun. The guide was somewhat informative on the poe museum grounds but when we left the "stories" became such a jumble of occurrences it was difficult to follow and boring. There was no story telling involved, it was more the guide relating experiences of others "a waitress felt someone touch her shoulder but when she turned no one was there" type of thing. I don't expect theatrics but give some details! Show some emotion! This could have just been the guide we got, I don't know.

A "must" in Richmond

Our family loved the ghost tour we took in Richmond. The stories were great and interesting , we saw parts of Richmond we had missed during our daytime walk and we learned about Richmond's history. I would surely recommend this tour to my friends!

Not only can you have shivers runnig up your spine as you tour a part of Richmond's ghostly past, you can also learn a little bit of the 400 odd years of history in Virginia's capital city. Murders....accidents.....and vampires, oh my!

Great, very scary ghost tour!

My children and I (16 yrs., 21 yrs.) had a wonderful time listening to the very scary ghost stories, and touring the city. The highlight was undoubtedly the 1925 train explosion in the tunnel. We went to the tunnel the very next day to investigate. Our tour guide was very peppy and entertaining! I would recommend this activity to anyone looking to do something a little different on their trip to Richmond.

My family, friends and I have done ghost tours in several different cities. If we are near a city that does one on vacation we usually go. I loved that this tour started in the Edgar Allen Poe museum. I wish I had gotten a chance to go back and actually go inside at a different time. The tour guide had many stories at each stop. The walk was about 1.5 miles with many stops. The guide was friendly and I would rate her average as guides go on these tours. They don't dress in halloween costumes like some ghost tours do. I LIKE this it makes the tour and stories seem more authentic. The thing I didn't like was I didn't feel safe in all areas we walked through. Usually, if you are in a group walking like that in a big city you feel pretty safe even if you go through some questionable areas, but we went by some people hanging out and yelling through the streets, a group that had drugs, and one of the stops for a ghost story was next to an abandoned warehouse that had weeds growing up and boards put over puddles for us to walk over. We didn't just stop at the front, we walked down beside the building as far as we could go into this overgrown area. After seeing the people in the neighborhood, I was worried we might encounter more than ghosts down this alley. The guide said it was the scariest stop and it was!!!

Entertaining!

We thoroughly enjoyed our "ghost tour" of Shockoe with an informative and enthusiastic guide, an English teacher with drama background. She had several interesting historical stories that I'm now curious about and will research further. I think the most fascinating aspect of the tour was how the present (lively partying people, music, busy restaurants, etc.) was juxtaposed with the past (the train tunnel collapse at the end of a dirt drive and Julep's - a restaurant- haunting by a murdered apprentice from another century. Beginning the tour at the Poe Museum's courtyard is an excellent idea, and we loved hearing about the little entity "Jonathan," who might peer from the upper window of the adjacent building. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes though! You will be walking vigorously and over some patchy areas of sidewalk here and there. I definitely recommend the tour.

This is fun for ghost hunters and regular people looking for a thrill. I thought the guide was well informed and very funny as well. The locations on the tour were very interesting and unique. I would like to go back to those locations we visited and investigate for myself!

terrible

If I wanted to go on a tour of Richmond's most haunted restrooms, I would have gone to VCU. With s ghost tour, people expect a level of suspense and scary stuff- I thought thats why it was at night. You could have at least put red lights in a window and had them flicker (would have been 1000x scarier). The thing scary about the tour was the fact that we went north of Broad Street (I was more scared of getting shot than getting spooked). Thank god I was from Richmond- most of the history the lady told only people from Richmond would have known. Her stories were unimpressive, unprofessional ('my friend went to this bathroom.."), and a bit silly. "There is a blood spot in Laser Tag that wont go away but is covered by a coke machine." We didn't go into anything and were told silly stories that barely made any sense without historical background. Waste of time and money- overpriced.

Waste of time
Sat, Jun 13  9:00 PM youmellal Female 20-29 Combination Group of Friends
Although our tour guide was mediocre, the tour itself was a waste of time. When we arrived, they could not get the door open to the Stone House and we had to walk into the back courtyard through the back garbage entrance past six, overflowing cans. We saw nothing on the whole trip, we were not allowed to go into any of the buildings (although most of them were public) so we overpaid $15 to hear about 3 ghost stories. I would have thought they may have used even the most primitive special effects or something to try and scare us a bit, but we saw nothing but cars and boredom. The tour guide said that she usually takes people to the Church Hill Tunnel, but that there was too much water. She then said that 75% of the tunnel is filled with water at all times, so one of those was not truthful. We could have saved ourselves an evening and just googled Richmond.
