Interesting, but needs improvement

| I felt it would have been more interesting to go into the places that are supposed to be haunted, not standing outside of or in two cases, down the street from the site. The tales were interesting, but not as spooky when looking at a house that looks like the house in the story. I am glad I took the tour and did enjoy myself overall. | ||||||

| While I (and my group of friends) enjoyed the tour, there are several areas that Haunts of Richmond needs to improve upon before I would give it a enthusiastic recommendation. The first and most important being that the price point is a bit high. For a one hour walking tour, 15.00 is a bit steep. (18.05 even after taxes and Zerve surcharge). 15.00 would be a much better price if the haunted house was included or 10.00 for just the walking tour. Secondly, water should have been provided free. Granted it isn't a hot tour, but complimentary water is usually a part of tour experiences. Even if it is a water cooler and paper cups at the home base. Also, on the ghost walk in Fredericksburg, hot cider & cookies are provided free. And the hot cider on the cool Oct/Nov evening really makes for a pleasant outing. Third, at the end of our tour we followed the tour guide (overall a good guide) back to the door and she said "Ok, go ahead in if you bought tickets for the haunted house". I think everyone there was expected a bit of a wrap up. Even "That's it for the tour... you've been a great group... hope you've enjoyed yourselves and will tell your friends about us" would have been just fine and provided closure to the tour. And fourth and last, Smoking should have been forbidden from the tour. People can walk away from the group if they can't wait 1 hr between cigs. Overall, I'm not disappointed I checked it out but it does have some areas that need improvement. | ||||||

| My husband and I are from out of state and wanted to do something fun for Halloween. I found this walking tour advertised online and it sounded like a fun thing to do together. Our group for the 9pm tour was rather large- I think it was around 20 people. At times we had difficulty hearing our guide and had to make a point to be at the front of our group at the stops along the way. I recall 3 of the 7 or 8 stops being particularly spooky the rest seemed to be for historical sake. We enjoyed our tour guide and found him to be very informative and knowledgable. The historical background at each stop was great. Quite a few of our group were younger highschool age people- from watching the younger of our group it seemed as though they were expecting a more scary or exciting experience- where in reality the tour was more historical. We enjoyed the tour immensely being from out of state and wanting to learn more about Richmond...the spooky part was just a perk for Halloween to us. | ||||||

| The tour was very entertaining and informative. I'd especially recommend that you follow up by going to the haunted house afterwards. The haunted house is filled with characters who act out the stories that you hear about on the tour. This makes it much more engaging than your average haunted house. Also, although all ages of people were there, my date and I felt very comfortable with the tour and the haunted house as a thirty-somethings. It was a great evening and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. | ||||||

| I really enjoyed the haunted tour, my husband and I went on our first haunted tour in New Orleans, LA we enjoyed it so much as tourists there(by the way, New Orleans still needs our help, desperately...), I decided we should explore some of the fabulous things Richmond has to offer. We loved our tour guide, I wish I could remember her name, it was Halloween and it was a large group, she was short with so much information and personal experiences from The Poe Museum, I thought she was fantastic! The haunted house I did not like, the only reason why is I realized I do not like live people jumping out at me, if you want a good thrill, knock your self out, I will never put myself in that position again. I do have to say I found the actors great, especially an actress who plays a widow as you come into the house she was awesome! In all I enjoyed our tour so much, I learned things about a city I have lived in for over 15 years, and I have more things I want to see and investigate as a result of this tour. I honeymooned in late April in New Orleans, since that time I have wanted to move there, this tour has helped in a way make me appreciate Richmond more, I will not be in New Orleans anytime soon, but I can explore and love both cities while living in one of them. Thank you, for anyone who wants to learn some of the things that make Richmond great, try the GHOSTS! | ||||||

| I haunted walk was a lot of fun! I learned about the unpleasantness in Richmond's past, and enjoyed the late-night walk. Our guide did a really good job of combining history with story, and was very entertaining! The haunted house afterwards was great, but doing the walk ahead of time really added a lot, because the scenes in the house corresponded to the stories told there. Overall, definitely recommended! | ||||||

| It was enjoyable evening spent in Richmond, VA.Activities were fine. Smaller groups are always more enjoyable. Ghost walk 1-10. Haunted House 1-4.....each activity had too many people. Also non-smoking events are always appreciated. | ||||||

| We went early for parking. No where to set to wait. Tour was good but the walk (pace) was way too fast. Wear comfortable shoes. They should open 1 hr early. | ||||||

| Not a lot of substantiated evidence of paranormal activity. The best stories were more historic in nature. The guide did a great job of engaging the group, though, and had a good sense of humor. | ||||||

| Our group as a whole was too large, the tour guide was all about Poe, and I felt like we being rushed along. None of the stories were exciting, it was boring enough that we left the group and went to dinner. A different guide might have made a difference.... I don't know. I have no intentions of going back to find out. | ||||||

| The tour was interesting, although the tour guide was a bit annoying, with adding little jokes that only she found funny. It is very much overpriced ($18 each ticket when all is said and done) and should be reduce to $10 each. Tickets were not even checked by the guide and it would have been easy simply to join the group touring for free. | ||||||
